"Sorry Klaes, but I preferred to not take chances. It did not seem very friendly to me." replies Aedar "But you make a good point, not all fights are won by sword or spell."

After Aedar slices and dices the floating potato the party continues westwards through the sewers for a further five minutes. Eventually they can see ahead of them an area where it looks like the sewer system expands and possibly joins with a north/south running sewer. 

Aedar moves his four globes of lights in order to illuminate the whole area "I'm sure that we will find another of those symbols around here." says as he starts to search the area (Investigation 7).
Aedar, as he searches, turns towards Klaes saying "The symbol may be well hidden, this may help." He then traces an arcane glyph in the air in front of Klaes enhancing briefly his senses.

"Sure, I will look this way." Klaes look for symbols on the opposite side from Aedar.

Investigation: 23 (saving inspiration for another opportunity)

When the little creature is finished off by Aedar, Ophelia says, "Whatever chips are I'll take some!" Following the group, Ophelia giggles to herself. "he was an ugly potato... whatever that is" she thinks to herself.  "Em, Mister Klaes, could you please retrieve my dagger for me? I don't really want to go swimming in that stinky water." Ophelia asks Klaes. (She is sure he will be delighted to get his suit in the water).

(Also, does Ophelia know what that creature was?)

"Errr... Of course dear." Says Klaes hesitantly. Still with one hand covering his nose with his handkerchief, he goes to the spot where he things Ophelia's dagger might be. He thinks for a moment. "Oh well." He says with a heavy sigh. He first rolls up the sleeve of one of his arm, and tries to find her dagger.

Winding back the clock a bit

Klaes reaches down into the muck and feels around. He eventually finds something that feels like it might be a dagger "aha" he says but as he lifts it out of the muck he realises that what he has found is in fact a piton. "Oh well better luck next time" he says as he reaches back into the muck. This time he feels something under his fingers that is small and circular, he brings it to the surface "ah what do we have here" (5) as he realises that he has found a ring. "Third time lucky" he says as he reaches back into the muck and this time finds Ophelia's dagger.

Unfortunately Ophelia did not recognise the creature.

As Aedar and Klaes examine the wall they find that the main sewer tunnel expands into a circular hub with a pair of arrow slits carved into its outer walls, directly across from each other. Two passages continue on to the north and south. A stone door is set into the back wall of a stone ledge to the west.

Aedar points at arrow slits "We should be careful..." says as he turns towards the rest of the group. "No symbols here, but I think that we are in the right place." Aedar then walks towards the stone door. He leans on it trying to hear if there is someone or something behind it (Perception9). If he does not hear anything, he tries to carefully open the door.

"Good," Eryn whispers, "the sooner we're out of this sewer the better. I only own one pair of boots and it's slowly turing into I own no pairs of boots."

"Do not worry Eryn, with Volo's reward, you will be able to purchase a pair of new boots." replies Aedar. "But we have to find his friend first."

Klaes quickly takes a look at the ring, trying to determine if there are any markings. Then he goes to help Aedar with the stone door. He checks to see if it’s locked. 

Aedar cannot hear anything behind the door.

As Klaes has a quick look at the ring he notices that it is in the shape of a skull and also cold to touch.

"It should be safe to open the door then." Aedar, with the help of Klaes pushes the door with all his strength trying to open it. (Athletics 18)

Aedar and Klaes easily open the door. They can see they are in a five feet wide corridor which immedately turns north and then 15 feet later turns to the west. In front of them is a door which Aedar carefully opens. He finds himself looking into a corridor running north south. To the south it looks like it opens out and to the north it disappears into the darkness although about 10 feet  along it opens up on the east side and to the north there is a set of steps heading downwards.

"Maybe there is a symbol hidden here to show us the way." whispers Aedar as he moves the dancing lights in order to further illuminate the area around the group. "Let's see if we find them." continues as he starts searching "or at least signs that indicate that one passage is more trafficked than the other."  

Investigation 13

Aedar leads the party down to the room to the south. It is empty with nothing but a few weapons and threadbare clothing littering the floor. 

Aedar then turns and leads the party back up the corridor (Stealth roll = 17).

As the party heads up the corridor Eryn manages to find the only loose rock and kicks it into Klaes who gives a muttered curse which is not so under his breath as he would have wished. As they reach the open area on the right (east) side a voice yells out "who are you, why are you 'ere, state your name and purpose quick smart!"

"Uhmmm. Klaes Ashford... At your service. We are here looking for a gentleman named Floon Blagmaar." Klaes steps forwards and announces himself.
