Dimple (Ben):
Having never spoken to a flower before, Ben all but forgets about the hide and seek game. “I have never seen such beautiful flowers. Truly your aroma is like unto ambrosia and your blooms a rare treat for my eyes,” he says, enraptured by the experience.
As he hears the final numbers being counted out in the distance, he suddenly remembers his purpose and approaches the flower with the longest petals, saying, “And your petals are magnificent! Would you do me the honor of aiding me in my attempt to hide for our hide and seek game? Surely no one would bother looking at me when your petals capture the eye so completely with their beauty!”

...Edgardo's snail limps along, recovering from its cramp. It falls far behind the others. Far ahead, the lead has been taken by #7, the red team, "Breakneck".
Round 4: (8, 7)
Round four begins with a roar from the crowd as the jockey on #1 ("Shellymoo") half stands up on his saddle in a frenzied (but crowd-popular) attempt to pass #3. Edgardo can only watch from his position well behind the pack.
Flower bed: Brightmite (Matilda), Cobweb (Alyeira), Dimple (Ben) try to crouch in the flower bed with a group of bickering wildflowers. "Why would I not?" responds a tall yellow daisy to Brightmite, defiantly. Fortunately, Dimple's smooth-talking convinces them to simmer down and help them hide. (Brightmite and Cobweb may make advantage rolls.)
Heron's Nest: Cotton Candy (Bob) may make a Charisma (Persuasion) check to try to get the heron's cooperation. (Make a second stealth roll, too.)
Jellybean Starfish (Cad) just waits in the palace, as quietly as he can.

Overjoyed by the discovery of Beatrice, Bob momentarily forgets all about the hide and seek game he is currently playing. "OH BOY!"he yells rambunctiously, "I surrreee have! Quite the sight, charging across the sky like a pack of ravenous polar bears. I was telling Primrose just the other day-- you know Primrose, right? My assistant. Tabaxi. The finest Tabaxi you'll ever meet y'know --well just the other day I commented, well perhaps pointed out, or maybe informed is the word. Well, I stated..."Look at those cumulonimbus clouds approaching over the eastern horizon, aren't they a thing?!" Well, y'know what she said?" Bob does not wait for an answer. "She said,"What's a cumulonimbus and why should I care?"She's like that, dear Primrose --what a hoot! OHH BOY!"
He proceeds to talk excitedly about the topic for the next few minutes, his feathery hands wildly gesticulating as he goes, completely disregarding any pretence of hiding.
Edgardo traces the spiral of Nimblefoot's shell in a playful caress. "That number 7 is pretty quick. You know who I heard is quicker? Who has the nimblest feet...I mean foot at the carnival? You!! Let's go get 'em"
Unsure of what to do with himself while waiting for the others, Horatio checks mirrors or mirrored surfaces. Perhaps his reflection is trapped somewhere?
Flower Bed: Brightmite (Matilda), Cobweb (Alyeira), and Dimple (Ben), having successfully quieted the flowers, have advantage in hiding (Brightmite advantage roll: 17; Cobweb advantage roll:13)
Heron's Nest: Cotton Candy (Bob) continues to chat weather with Beatrice the heron.
Starbug quickly finds Cotton Candy (Bob) in the nest and is eliminated from play. Found!
Honeymint calls everyone back out of hiding. "Another round?" Brightmite (Matilda), Cobweb (Alyeira), Dimple (Ben), and Jellybean Starfish (Cad) are all invited to play the next round. (If you choose to continue, you may pick new hiding spots or the same, together with two Stealth checks and a Persuasion check if you are hiding anywhere with resident occupants.)
Meanwhile, Horatio looks for anything reflective. Perception: 11 ...but finds little that would show a clear reflection.
Colin keeps an eye out.Perception: 9 ... but sees little of interest or concern.
Edgardo, hopelessly behind, tries to coax his snail onward, but his mount is not having a good night:

Round 5: (1, 7)
Round five begins without incident. The front of the pack is perhaps two rounds from the finish line. About ninety feet separates Edgardo from the next nearest snail. He may roll his next Animal Handling roll.
”But of course,” replies Dimple, rushing off as soon as the counting starts. As wonderful as he found the flowers, he craved a new experience for some reason, the power of the mystical seed working its magic on him.
Reaching the Heron, he says, “How marvelous it must be to be able to fly whenever you like…I just got a taste for it with the pixie dust and it was amazing.” Bowing a bit, Dimple adds, “My name—at least here—is Dimple. What is your name?”

Dimple (Ben): "Beatrice!" the heron replies brightly. Ben goes on to convince the heron to let him hide in her nest. "We had three-quarters of an inch of rain yesterday!" she whispers. Final stealth roll: 20
Cobweb (Alyeira): Alyeira manages to talk Biscuit into letter her hide in a wheel carriage with a sweet she had in her pocket. Final stealth roll: 12
Brightmite (Matilda): Fumbling over her words, Matilda relies on Alyeira to gain Biscuit's cooperation. Final stealth roll: 22
Jellybean Starfish (Cad): Having gotten a lucky break from Bob's absentmindedness, Cad may choose a hiding place. (Make one stealth roll if in the palace; two stealth rolls and a persuasion if in one of the three inhabited spots.)
Horatio and Colin continue to keep an eye out for trouble. Or clues. (Make new perception checks if you like.) Cotton Candy (Bob), now out of the game, is shushed and ejected politely from Beatrice's nest.
Snail Races: Meanwhile, losing badly in the snail races, Edgardo may make a new Animal Handling check.
If it weren't for his unexplained sense of humour, Edgardo would be slinking off in a huff. Not only was he losing, he was losing badly. This isn't how I pictured a snail race going. We should be near the front. Even with the entire compliment of snails in front of him he manages a chirpy word or two of encouragement for Nimblefoot. "Even last place in this race makes you quicker than any snail I've ever met. Well done Nimblefoot, hope it wasn't my fault we fell behind. Let's see if we can finish with flair". He stands in his saddle and waves his hand in a circle. "Woohoo! Let's go!"
Okay, he'd panicked the first round. He could do this -- children did it every day, right? He thinks back on his tour of the palace and thinks he knows exactly where he should hide.
Starbug takes slightly longer this time, nearly spotting Cobweb's (Alyeira's) foot hanging out of the basket. But it's Jellybean Starfish (Cad) who sneezes at the dusty miniature wicker loveseat cushions he is crouched behind. Cad is out.
Honeymint calls the remaining three back out of hiding. "Another round?" Brightmite (Matilda), Cobweb (Alyeira), and Dimple (Ben) are all invited to play the next round. (If you choose to continue, you may pick new hiding spots or the same, together with two Stealth checks and a Persuasion check if you are hiding anywhere with resident occupants.)
Colin sees nothing suspicious. But he does notice that carnival-goers are starting to drift in the direction of the Big Top. He expects it's getting closer to the midnight show.
Horatio and Bob hear the growing roar of the crowd at the snail races across the way. It sounds like the race is reaching an exciting conclusion.
"Ah, never was any good at that game!" He decides he's seen enough of the Pixie Kingdom. He goes back to the entrance and wills himself back to normal size. He can see the Snail Racing track across the way but there's already a race in progress. Remembering the treats he'd put off earlier he begins wandering toward the Big Top in the hopes of finding a vendor for those... oh what were those things called? The entrance to the Hall of Illusions catches his eye. An aspiring wizard could surely learn something in there, he thinks, and heads inside.
Matilda waits to see if Alyeira wants to continue playing.
" Did the nice cat lady with the wavy things say that her kitten is missing too......I wonder if they are with my brother? At least they would have company..."
