"Maybe the creature I spoke of earlier, the one Anator perceived, can turn flesh to stone!" Khessa resumes her notes, quill already in hand, adding this last idea also"A bat-winged chicken-like creature... It might be an unnatural being, with supernatural powers! Can you find the tracks, Zeminny?".
"a petrified wolf, it seems that the hunter has been turned into a pray" The dwarf mumbles "It's a bad omen, better keeping our guard up" he turns to the Halfling "A basilisk you say? I have never seen such a creature before, but being turned into a stone is pretty scary also for a dwarf"
Eric tries to find any trace nearby, as well any sign of struggle or another one that may indicate how much time has passed from the event...
"Flesh turned to stone..." Khessa murmurs, still incredulous of really being there, in first person, in front of such an uncommon event, starting to caress the rock fur "Really indistinguishable from carved stone, if it weren't for the incredible richness of detail. And also the smell, the texture... All the same as the common rock".
"This could have an application in food preservation" points out the blonde arcane warrior, as her practical country girl side suggests her. "By turning pieces of meat to stone, it could all be stored without fear of it to ruin. It could be stored at will, even centuries, if needed; it would not rot, it would not be eaten by worms, and it would always be available. Whenever necessary, the reverse process could be applied to the quantities to be consumed... and one would immediately have fresh meat in the quantity he needs to prepare his meal. I must really write down that," she begins to make yet another note on her spellbook with its cobweb-patterned cover "in case one day I learn to do something like this..."
"If we can find and follow the tracks, we could end this danger for us as well as for everyone..." ponders Khessa "I don't like very much the idea of a stoning monster lurking around free. Art production could experience a sudden growth..."

The comment about the Basilisk put you on the wrong. You only notice some wolf tracks and that of a large chicken.
(Lol I'm thinking Cockatrice but i'm not sure if they are different in dnd. Either way, Zale has no clue what the thing is anyway. :'D)
"I had no clue such a thing was real." Zale comments, "But it doesn't sound like something I want to deal with. How do these Basilisks turn things into stone? Is it some kind of spell?" She shakes her head, "Ahhh, never mind. Let's just get moving and hope it doesn't do the same to us..." She glances at Khessa, "Unless you really really want to find it...."
"I agree" the dwarf nods to Zale's words "there is no clue suggesting an involvement of the Cult, and we need to meet Leosin, better keep going, we just need to keep our guard up"
"I would have preferred to at least look for the traces of the monster..." Khessa reasons to himself "if we had found them immediately, we could have freed the area from danger. But I agree on the fact that our mission should take precedence - the Cult is a far greater threat. If you all prefer that we go, then let's continue our journey".
The blonde arcane warrior definitively places her grimoire in her backpack, telepathically exchanges her impressions of the petrifying monster with Anator and gently squeezes her legs to Zewna's hips, making her restart.

Kriv looks around for any dangers. “We shouldn’t linger. Whatever did this could do the same to us.”

Nixi stifles a giggle at her friend's comment about sculpture-making becoming a new local industry.
Calvin perks up at the mention of a basilisk, "Wait, are we talking about the many legged, reptilian creature that turn turn its victims into stone?"

No dangers in the eara. Whatever caused this is long gone.

Calvin, you would probably put 1 and 1 together and figure out this could be the creature Acorn talked about.

" I agree, we better get out of here before the Basil- liks or bat chicken comes back..."
At that time, Kriv with your high Perception roll, you notice 2 riders on the road (way in the distance but approaching fast), coming from the north.

As the get closer you recognise the colors of the Company of the Prince on the riders. The bigger one could be Anne, you think.

Khessa has never met Anne, but does she know anything about this 'Company of the Prince'?
