You can't help overhearing that the Half-Elf (who is apparently called Beyd) is planning to join the next caravan heading north. Ackyn tells him that ale and beer are so common that not much money can be made hauling them long distances. Beyd replies that he will make his money on the road, selling his stock to his fellow travelers in the caravan. Once Beyd leaves your contact turns to you.
Khessa checks with one last look that indeed there is no one else (apart from party members) within hearing, then replies: "Indeed, you can be of great help to us, Ackyn. You see, it is Ontharr who sent us , Ontharr Frume of the Order of the Gauntlet. A caravan of looted treasures is due to pass through Baldur's Gate shortly (treasures that will probably be used for evil purposes), heading further north. We need to infiltrate, in order to sabotage these plans. Perhaps by getting us hired as guards by the caravan. Or maybe by getting us hired by merchants who go the same way. We know that merchants from different companies commonly join together to form larger trains for protection... Can you help us with this? That Half-elf from earlier, for example... Beyd... could he be a good choice? And do you think he could hire us?"
Hmmm looks legit. Ackyn says after taking a look at Eric's symbol. Ontharr isn't one for scheming though. What can you tell me about those evil doers? When will they be here? With me to vouch for you, you should have no trouble getting hired on as guards for a northbound caravan. But I don't think I can make those evil doers hire you.

“Those evil doers are members of the Cult of the Dragon” Khessa explains. "While we do not know the ultimate purpose of the loot they have collected, they have not hesitated to raid population centers and attack (and massacre) innocents to get it, so I suppose their plans for the future also do not contemplate peace and love. They were headed here in their caravan and ahead of us, but we traveled by boat so we should have gotten ahead of them. They'll arrive between today and within a few days I imagine. It will be a large convoy, they will not be able to pass unnoticed".
"If you don't think you can make those evil doers hire us," reflects the blonde arcane warrior "it will be fine getting hired on as guards for a northbound caravan that plans to join them. How do you want us to do it? We'll tell you where we stay and you warn us as soon as we have to move? Or can we help you in some other way, while we wait?"
Zeminny stays out of the long legs discussion and wrings the water from his giant wizard hat/ disguise and looks around the place. His momma always told him, listening is the most important skill
Hmmm... seems we're in a hurry... Ackyn contemplates. From what you've told me, I'd gather they don't want to linger here. They'll need new wagons though, so even if they arrive today they won't leave until dawn. Come... we need to find you a place in next caravan!
Ackyn ushers you out and closes his store. As he does so he tell you about the rest of his plan.
We should keep an eye on any incoming travellers. Some of you should stake out the Outer City east of the wal and maybe one of you at the docks. They'll need new wagons and I'll probably be the one that sells them. But I'd like a warning.
[Now let's see of you can find a job as a Guard. I need you all to make a Persuasion or Athletics check, whichever you prefer]
Khessa nudges Nixi: "Anator can control the Outer City east of the wall and Isidore can control the docks... Both can fly or lean on a roof and control without attracting any attention - and come back to report to us as soon as they spot the big caravan of the Cult. What do you think?"

That could work. I suggest you find a place to sleep in the Blackgate district.
You are hired as bodyguard by Aldor Urnpoleshurst, a Human lawyer that is relocating from Baldur’s Gate to anywhere that isn’t Baldur’s Gate. He's paying 1 gp per day plus food and living expenses on the road.
Edhelri Lewel (a female Moon Elf Merchant) hires you as a basic guard (5 sp per day). Lewel’s wagon is loaded with exotic wood from the Jungle of Chult for the master carpenters and cabinetmakers of Waterdeep to turn into exquisite furniture.

"Great choice, Aldor" Khessa smiles confidently. "Everybody will think twice before trying to lay a hand on you. After all, people have only two hands, usually, so they are keen to keep them".

Nixi smiles, "Great idea!" She then whispers to her raven, who flies off to monitor the traffic at the docks.

The dwarf nods, showing the symbol of the Gauntlet.
'Well done Eric' thinks Khessa, with a smile on her lips. 'Always so ready to support me...'
Zale follows Khessa and Eric trusting they know what to do.
(Sorry for disappearing for a bit. I’m kinda sick right now:’D)

Calvin listens carefully to Khessa and Ackyn discuss the plans for infiltrating the Cult of Dragon. However, he cannot think of anything to add.

Eric accept the engagement with enthusiasm. He hide his Gauntlet's symbol under his garments.
