Anator isn't much use to Khessa, but her own eyes are sharp enough. No danger during her watch. Eric notices a flickering light far away. It's gone before he could rub his eyes. Calvin's watch is uneventful , but during Zale's watch... Well even Zale notices the indistinct, flickering lanterns passing nearby. Looks like 3 lanterns and judging by the course of the bobbing lantern lights they haven't notice you.
Carefully as not to startle her comrades, Zale gently shakes Kriv and the Khessa to wake them up. Then she does the same with Calvin and Eric assuming the other two don't wake them up first. She puts a finger to her lips and points out the lights.
Khessa sends Anator to check more closely - a bat is a nocturnal animal, no one should have suspicions. She concentrates to see through her brother's senses. Who is using the 3 lanterns? Lizardfolk on patrol in canoes?
Khessa makes a mental connection with Anator, who is hanging from a branch. She tells him what Zale saw and asks him to investigate who is carrying the lanterns. Anator understands and flies away. He follows the lights, which slowly move through the swamp. He sees that they are not torches or lanterns, but floating balls of light. He recognizes them as will-o'-wisps, evil creatures who trap their victims with their light. He knows that they are often near dangerous places, such as quicksand, swamps or graves. He sees the will-o'-wisps heading towards a large pool of water, which looks suspiciously still.
Anator telepathically relays to Khessa what he sees.
'Thank you, brother, your help is invaluable as always!' Khessa mentally communicates her gratitude to him 'Probably those evil creatures try to lure unwary travelers to some dangerous place - like that large pool of water, which looks suspiciously still. Look around and look for some landmarks, please... so tomorrow, when we resume our journey, we will try to avoid passing by there! Then come back to me'.
The blonde arcane warrior then communicates what she has learned to Zale and Kriv: "They are not torches or lanterns, but floating balls of light, evil creatures known as will-o'-wisps! They lure their victims with their light near dangerous places, such as quicksand, swamps or graves. At the moment, they are heading towards a large pool of water, which looks suspiciously still... probably a dangerous place where they wish to lure eventual travelers. I asked Anator to remember where it is - so we avoid passing there tomorrow. In my opinion, we can ignore them and go back to sleep".
Calvin is not happy to be woken up in the middle of the night, "Hey, I just had my shift. I was dreaming about being a powerful lizard that defeated all of his enemies."

the dwarf nods "Yes, Anator senses provided us good information. I also think we can go back to sleep, just keeping our guard up during nightshifts in case those things moves closer" he ads "we will try to avoid that pool tomorrow, my bless will also prevent anything from dragging us into deep waters"
You get back to sleep and whoever is on guard keeps a close eye on the will-o'wisps. Just as daylight comes again and the others wake up again, Kriv (I believe he had last watch) sees 9 Lizardfolk paddle up in 3 canoes.
Khessa proposes to the others: "Let's keep out of sight and wait for them to get out of the canoes, so that they can't easily escape and raise the alarm. Then let's attack them and eliminate them. I don't think we need talking now; they must be allies of the Cult. Maybe, if we can, keep one alive to try to interrogate him and discover what awaits us. Now we can stay completely hidden, without peeking - Anator will stay out and warn us as soon as they get out of the canoes".
Since there probably isn't much time, the blonde arcane warrior quickly searches for a place where she can keep herself completely out of sight (though, of course, she minds her companions — if anyone suggests something different she listens).
"I know well your fighting spirit" laughs Eric "but we could be able to avoid them, hiding here while they pass by; swiftly continuing our journey. Of course, if they get closer, we'll do as you said"
"Ok, you stay in sight and talk then..." Khessa suggests "If they listen, it's better for all. Else, we'll be here, out of sight but ready to help you".
Zale eyes the wisps warily. "I don't be likin those one bit, I agree with avoidin that water."Zale nods to Kriv approvingly, if they can be on relatively good terms with the lizardfolk, it would not be a bad thing. However, when he steps out and confronts them...she facepalms. So much for negotiation. You're supposed to start friendly before jumping strait to threats!
Looks like the Lizardfolk didn't expec any trouble near their camp. They are dragging their canoes on "dry" land and don't notice Kriv until he calls out. One of them let's out little scream that reminds some of Eek. However, they quickly recover from the surprise.

L1: Snapjaw, I know you are unhappy about the situation in the mere, but what can 1 Dragonborn do to help us?
Snapjaw: I don't think he's alone. Is that right, Dragonborn?
Hearing the conversation, Zale decides that staying hidden is no longer necessary. So, she dashes out to stand by Kriv, "Eye, Maties! Me friend here don't be alone! And he be right!" She gives them a wry toothy grin, "You lot help us, and we may be able to help ye out."

Kriv shakes himself awake and summons The Fist. “Do we talk if they’re Lizardfolk? Or fight?”
Khessa, focused on Anator's senses, can't use her owns... so she does not hear Kriv's words, at the moment.

"Ok, I trust your wisdom" Khessa smiles, staying out of sight while Anator watches. "No fight unless they spot us, then".
“They will listen to reason. I can talk to them.” Kriv looks to the group for their thoughts.
"Ok, you stay in sight and talk then..." Khessa suggests "If they listen, it's better for all. Else, we'll be here, out of sight but ready to help you".
Kriv summons the Fist and steps out to meet the Lizardfolk. In Draconic, Stop now and you may live.

Kriv keeps his attention on the Lizardfolk. Trying to kill me would be foolish. My friends and I may be able to help if you can help us.
