Khessa leads then her friends back up. From the castle, how does the situation look like? Did the lizardmen win? Can we take our long rest in the now secured castle?
Khessa is a little surprised... The Lizardfolk should have won by now against the Bullywugs, who were deprived of the help of both their leader and druid, and the Cultists... Who are these other Lizardfolk? She suspects that they may be the victorious Lizardfolk (better armored if they have requisitioned the Cult's armor), who want to understand if the group is part of the Cult... to kill them if so!
The blonde arcane warrior tries to study their expressions or pay attention to other details that can confirm or deny her impression...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Zale laughs, "Heh! Ye should know cultists don't have friends!" She replies in Draconic, "Heh, that be some mighty fine armor ye got there. Might I ask where ye got it? Eh, never mind. How's about ye fill us in on what be goin on here?" She purposefully doesn't say who's side the party is on.
She also tries to gauge who's side these lizardfolk are on.
Well, with those roll you both guess that these must be Borngrey's elite guard Lizardfolk. They must have joined the fight against the Bullywugs, but it sounds like they didn't turn on the Cultists.
We got 'm from the Elf. The Lizardfolk gives you a curious look. You not with the Cult? You must be with Snapjaw. Where is he? He'll be glad to know that we secured the castle. We'll need Spattergoo's head on pike though. That will break the Bullywugs outside castle.
"Snapjaw fell during the battle against Spattergoo" Khessa is saddened as she breaks the news. "But Spattergoo too has fallen. Come with us to the scene of that battle, it is safe now. So you can recover the body of your leader to honor his sacrifice - and the head of your enemy to definitively break down the morale of the Bullywugs".
The blonde arcane warrior is ready to lead the Lizardfolk, if they agree to follow her. If so, along the way she converses with them and finds out what happened to the surviving Cultists.
Zale nods to Khessa and replies to the lizardfolk, "Eye, we'd been helpin Snapjaw. He may have fallen, but he'd be pleased to know that Splattergoo has become nothin more than splattered goo on the floor, and his comrades have come out victorious. We'd be more than willin to show ye his sorry corpse, parading that slimy toad's head around'll honor Snapjaw's memory."
"He does. He fought well and bravely to free your people from the plague of the bullywogs. Unfortunately, I have exhausted my strengths in fight and I have no power left to bring him back" he says while leading the Lizardfolks along the others down the way.
'I didn't like him much, that grin...' Khessa muses, as she leads the way 'The large Lizardfolk seemed almost satisfied... I hope it's because he plans to replace Snapjaw as leader, rather than any disagreements he had with him ... considering that Snapjaw was our ally, an enemy of his... an enemy of his might even see us as enemies in turn!'
During the journey, the blonde arcane warrior inquires from the large Lizardfolk: "And what happened to the Cult? Borngrey is dead no less than Snapjaw and Spattergoo... and Rezmir fled with Azbara Jos. Without any guide, I would have expected the Cultists to be quickly massacred, considering the very little respect with which they had treated the Lizardfolk, preferring the Bullywugs to them. But did they manage to organize themselves? Or did you save them? Where are they now?"
(I'm assuming your friends translate the Draconic part)
The large Lizardfolk replies: Rezmir is a fool! But Borngrey treated us with respect. He favoured us and I'm sure that's why the Bullywugs killed him. We joined Snapjaw's rebellion in part to avange Borngrey. In his memory we have decided not to turn against our alliance with the Cult.
The Lizardfolk looks you over.
You do not frear them do you? They are dedicated but not fanatics, and they are laborers, not soldiers. I saw them fight, their attacks are uncoordinated and hesitant. I told them to barricade themselves and try to ride out the slaughter.
Kriv subtly tries to get the party's attention. When he does he tells of his plan to stay behind with the Lizardfolk. Maybe he can be an "advisor" to this new Lizardfolk leader, but mostly he thinks he can keep the Cultists in check.
Khessa looks at the large Lizardfolk with blue eyes that sparkle with approval and respect: "You were right to save them, then. War should not touch the common folk. You know? I think you could be a good leader for your people".
"But remember, my friend," the tall adventruess points out "no matter how much you respected Borngrey, he is dead and will not return. While Rezmir, even if he escaped, is alive, and in position of power inside the Cult. So, any collaboration with the Cult will likely only bring new bitterness to your people. You would probably have a better future either alone, or with an ally who respects you, rather than with allies who have already shown you that they will put you aside as soon as it suits them".
As Kriv informs of his projects, the blonde arcane warrior is saddened by the impending separation of another party member... but she understands the dragonborn's reasons and wishes him good luck.
Zale nods to the lizardfolk, "Aye, It do be a pity Rezmir wasn't caught in the crossfire. If that had been the case perhaps a more respectable leader would have been raised."She shrugs, "Ah well, at least we succeeded in riddin this place of slimy frogfolk." She then nods along with what Khessa says, "I be respectin yer decision, but as me friend says tread lightly especially with Rezmir..."
She blinks as Kriv asks for a word. A variety of emotions cross her face, this doesn't seem like the best job for the big dragonborn...but if he thinks he can do it. She shakes herself and forces a grin. "Well just be careful mate. I'd hate to add your name to my list of 'those i must avenge.'"She slaps him on the shoulder, "Luck be with ye, and may the wind be ever at yer back."
Kriv and the new Lizardfolk leader seem to hit it off. With the castle secured and Spattergoo dead the remaning cultists still keep to their own rooms. The Lizardfolk put Spattergoo's head on display above the main gate and some Bullywug outside the castle leave that night. Most others run when they wake up.
With the castle secured, Khessa before taking the long rest gets help from Zale to transport the matched onyx carvings of Black Dragons near the top of the staircase in Borngray's fight room to a safe place.
The tall adventure then looks for a room where they can have a long rest with Eric (so before resting they can possibly... appreciate each other's company).
The next day, the blonde arcane warrior wakes up relaxed and smiling next to her beloved dwarf, she wakes him up with a kiss and, once he too is ready and both have reunited with the others, she tries to summarize: "We have inflicted a another blow to the Cult, wresting control of this Castle from them. Now that we are stronger, if you want we could try to explore the few underwater routes that are still unknown to us".
"Or"Khessa shrugs "we can decide to continue on the Cult's trail immediately, through the portal".
"Anyway, we should probably also warn the Gauntlet and the Harpers of what we've done," the blonde arcane warrior concludes "maybe they'll want to send someone here and make sure the Cult can't take the Castle back once we're gone".
The dwarf kisses her back, and is delighted to have the chance to spend some time with her, and having her resting with his harms around. "Yes my dear, I'm start thinking we may actually take down the Cult together one day, I feel your powers are growing at a pace beyond my imagination" he smiles and hugs her tighter. " I would suggest Informing the Order of the Gauntlet. I there is a way to do so, If Moradin wills, maybe you can help me in the task" (Eric describes to Khessa the Sending spell)
"Although dwarf dislike getting underwater, as you can imagine, also there is an enchant that can get us out of trouble in case we find ourselves stuck into the water" (he also describes Water Walk spell). So, Although I would prefer getting straight through the portal once we have delivered our message to the Ontarr, We have a Jack for all trades!" he laughs.
Khessa is flattered by the words of her beloved dwarf... as well as very interested in the description of the two spells, so much so that she takes out her own Spellbook (unmistakable, with that cover decorated with web-like motifs that betray its drow origins) and takes notes.
"Yes, I also feel like I'm becoming more and more effective every day at doing these things. It probably helps a lot to have inspiring company," the blonde arcane warrior smiles. "Anyway, the spells you described to me are really interesting. Maybe one day not too far away I'll be able to master them too".
"I myself have mixed feelings about exploring underwater..." the tall adventurer admits, also looking around for the other fellow adventurers "We could find something interesting... but we could also simply waste time or take unnecessary risks. I don't know what to advise".
The next moning Kriv finds you when you're having breakfast.
Are you still here? I thought you'd be hunting Rezmir as soons you gotrested
Turning to Eric he adds: But it's still good to see you before you leave my friends. Can you give a few pointers on turning these guys into something that resembles a blacksmith?

As you get back from beneath the castle you are greeted by a group of Lizardfolk. They appear better armored than other Lizardfolk.
The leader barks (Draconic): You Cultists? No need to hide anymore. Go find your friends.
