Khessa is astonished by the incredible speed with which the usually clumsy, rocky opponent avoids the blades. She stares at him with renewed determination, gripping the Greatsword in both hands and looking for a gap in the enemy's guard...
[[ OOC: But in the meantime it's Eric, Zale and Calvin's turn ]]
The last Gargoyle goes down by your rerentless attacks.
When the sounds of battle die down, the same Human from before pops in (it seems he waited for the fight to end).
That wasn't necessary. Who do you think gets to clean up the mess? Since it is your first time: the guest rooms are on the ground floor in the west wing. But I advise you to introduce yourself to Talis first. I think she's in her chambers. Upper floor, south west.
"Oh, so sorry, ny friend..." Khessa tries to speak to the human "We had no intention of causing 'this mess', but all of a sudden those things attacked us... They must have mistaken us for invaders, instead of guests".
"Could you do us a favor?" the blonde arcane warrior fixes her blue eyes with confidence on the speaker "Are there other areas where we might have 'incidents' like this? And are Rezmir or Azabara here too, by the way? We had news that we would find them here..."
Zale sheaths her daggers and brushes some loose gravel off her clothes. Then she turns and watches Khessa interact with this man. She raises an eyebrow at the man's sudden questioning as to their loyalty. Hmmm, that seems suspicious. What if he'd been wrong? He's outnumbered. Is this a trap?
Zale tries to gauge if this man is trying to trick them or not.
I can't talk long... the Kobolds... they spy on every visitor and report back to Talis if they see anything suspicious. And I think Arlaenga is trying to ingratiate herself. The man looks over his shoulder and continues: I don't think you are in danger. Just don't do anything you wouldn't do if you were a guest, like drawing your weapons. All people here are all formidable warriors... well... expect us servants.... we were hired by the lodge’s prior owner... Stay away from the kennel, they have a four-armed Troll there!
Khessa returns to Eric, taking comfort in the closeness of their hips touching, and explains: "The servant spoke of a 'lodge’s prior owner'... Perhaps his loyalty was primarily to that one. The Cult may have succeeded, either legally or by force, and are now a much less pleasant master. So, yes, I think he tried to help us. If he wanted to harm us, he might well not have waited for me to approach, but instead fled, screaming alarm cries".
"So," the blonde arcane warrior recaps "we are in a lodge that the Cult has turned into a base. And all the people here are formidable warriors - so if there are so many of them, a frontal assault might be risky. There is a four-armed troll in a 'kennel'; who knows if he serves them willingly... or could be persuaded to change masters, as Mr Long Arms was?"
"But for now," the tall adventuress concludes "we could still be mistaken for guests, if we act like them. Perhaps guests of the Cult regularly pass through this lodge. If we want to try this card, to convince everyone that we are guests... then we should probably first go and talk to this Talis who has her own chamber on the upper floor, south west".
"What do you say, then, my friends?" the blue eyed woman meets everyone's gaze. "Shall we play the part of guests... or invaders?"
"Well..." Eric laughs hugging the flanks of his beloved "playing the role of the intruders will give us no benefit, furthermore if our role as guest won't be appreciated, we can always switch role and play invaders!" "
Zale watches the man run off, though her skeptical look has faded a bit. She nods along with Khessa as she speaks with Eric, "That one be an honest fella. I could see it in his eyes. Honest, but scared silly."
She shrugs, "I suppose we may as well be playin guest with these fools. As long as we can anyways. Ye know as soon as Rezmir figures out we are here our cover will be blown right? Ah well, we must use the tools we got."
Placing her hands behind her head, she follows Khessa towards the chamber.
Crococalvin stays in his croco form. He probably agrees and follows the party.
So you take the stairs to the upper floor. Opening the door you think the servant meant you you find yourself in what looks to be a well-appointed chamber. It's filled with furniture and can serve as a place to eat food or discuss important matters. Three men in the room wear scale mail and carry swords; a woman wears robes over white scale mail, and she holds a wand set with a blue gemstone. It seems she was already expecting you: Welcome. I consider you to be my guests. Perhaps we can do business.
I feel like our goals could be aligned.... The woman thinks out loud. I am Talis the White and I have been deeply wronged! They made that insultingly incompetent Dwarf the bearer of the White Dragon Mask!
Composing herself she continues: But there's stil time. I have a lot of support among cultists. What I need is for my rivals to fail spectacularly. And that's where you come in!
"So, you would like us to cause the fall of your enemy in front of all the cult, basically bringing the White Dragon Mask into your hands" the dwarf replies; with his harms crossed and one eyebrow raised quite suspiciously "and why should we help you in achieving you're goal? What do we get back in reward?"
Khessa is very interested in Talis's proposal... Of course, an evil Clutist plotting to betray her fellow Cultists will probably try to betray the party as well... but probably, collaborating, at least initially, the party could further damage the Cult's plans... and maybe even find out more about their ultimate goal. Talis seems to be a key player - she probably knows a lot...
The blonde arcane warrior stays by Eric's side, understanding his skepticism... but convinced that, in any case, the possibility of collaborating is too good to be rejected lightly.

The man turns to Khessa, a glimmer of hope in his eyes. He whispers: You're not with the cult?

“No way” Khessa whispers back. “Give us as much information as you can and the Cult will soon be nothing but a bad memory".
"I promise,” the blonde arcane warrior winks “that I’ll even help you clean up the resulting mess, after we are done with them”.

@Zale: he seems to be honest but scared.

I... I need to get going!
And with that he leaves the room (NE door).

Erics calms down, "I do not understand, is he trying to help us? or he just doesn't care about strangers rushing into his master's house? "
Khessa returns to Eric, taking comfort in the closeness of their hips touching, and explains: "The servant spoke of a 'lodge’s prior owner'... Perhaps his loyalty was primarily to that one. "You are as wise as you are tough, my love!" Khessa smiles "You convinced me, let's play guests!"
The blonde arcane warrior then tries to lead the party according to the directions received... towards a chamber on the upper floor, south west.
