Telurion is flabbergasted by such an experienced warrior as Cyanwrath dropping his spear. He is so distracted that he's too slow to avoid the Lightning Breath and takes the full brunt of the attack (24dmg). Strange, it doesn't hurt. The crackling blue sparks just tickle. You don't even feel your body hit the ground. Time seems to slow around you. Light and Darkness both pull at you. For a moment Darkness seems to win the fight, but when you're just about to accept your fate the Light grows stronger and completely surrounds you. It seems your god has deemed you worthy, despite any flaws you see in yourself.
The other party members see Telurion falling to ground with a little smile on his face. Dead... (massive dmg insta kill)
Cyanwrath seems sad to see Telurion die.
We are truly the same. You died a warrior's death! It's a shame we won't have another one-on-one combat.
As Cyanwrath walks back the Kobolds release Markguth's sister. She runs immediately to her children, hugging them tightly.
With the fight over, the raiders retreat en masse from the town into the darkness, marching away toward the southeast.
Zale clenches her teeth. She didn't know the paladin very well, but she had grown to like him. This cult, the dragon, had already taken so much from her, they would continue to do so until someone ended them.
Zale tries to give one of them to Telurion, but in her heart she knows it's hopeless. When it fails, she lays his head back down on the ground. She glances up at the rest of the group, then shakes her head. "He's gone."
Zale stands up, clutching the second potion. "He deserves a hero's funeral." She says sadly. If she had been home, he would have been placed in a boat, and set to float off to the afterlife. However, this was not possible, so she would have to find another way to honor him. Looking back up to Nighthill, she holds up the potion and says, "Thank you for this. Next time, I wont be to slow to use it." After stowing it away with her other belongings, she walks over to pick up Telurion's sword. Then she brings it back to Telurion. Placing it in his hands she says, "Safe journey onward my friend. Someday, I'll see you on the other side."
She silently adds, "Your sacrifice will not be forgotten."
Zeminny is stunned by the unfortunate turn of events. Telurion appeared to be winning, even knocking the dragons man's spear from his hands...then it belched a massive bolt of lightning and our Paladin, a paragon of virtue and holy strength, lay on the field of battle. A smoking ruin, beyond the aid of even Leera's magic...
" Me and Eek will plant an oak in his honor!" He declares as he shuffles through his bag looking for an acorn worth planting.
After the battle, Kriv becomes quiet and sullen. Another death that he could have prevented, but once again, he let things go too far. He heads back into the keep to find a bottle of whatever alcohol is available.
Zale watches Kriv leave, wondering if he feels the same way she does. Once he is out of sight, she asks some of the villagers to help her carry Telurion to the hill, where she plans to bury him under where Zeminny and Eek plant the tree.
Calvin just stands there, mouth a gape. A former ally in the struggle against the cult is now dead. Yet, he wonders if the former man had received blessings from him, maybe Calvin could have helped him... somehow. Maybe.

Once the tree has been planted, Zale takes a moment of silence to honor the fallen hero, then turns back to the keep to seek out Kriv. Once she finds him, she will sit a few seats away from him and order a drink for herself.
Zale takes the bottle. After taking a swig of it, she looks at Kriv. "Don't blame yerself mate. I've been down that road before. Trust me, it only leads to more guilt. It was his choice to fight. Now we get to decide what happens next." She takes another swig from the bottle before handing it back to him. "I choose to keep fighting. I've already lost me family and me crew to that dragon. Now I've lost a friend. I will keep fighting back against them cultists even if it be the death of me."
"I keep getting blinded by the adventure, the fight... Then people die. When I left home the same thing happened. I jumped on a ship and at first it was nothing but the waves, fresh air, and some light theft. Like here, I was caught up in all of it and didn't stand up until things went too far."
"There aint' nothin' wrong with a little theft--" She stops herself from finishing that statement. "What I mean to say is, everyone gets blinded by the adventure at some point." She thinks about how she reacted to seeing the dragon. "At least ya saw yer mistake. Now ya can try and make sure it don't happen again."
Whenever the bartender comes over to her, she asks for a bottle of rum.
A father and son walk through green flieds to a hill with a massive oak tree on it. It's a nice sunny day and the father picks up the boy when they walk up the hill. Under the tree, but facing the sun, is low but beautiful headstone. The father sets boy down in the shade, they both sit down.
Father, why are we here? The boy asks.
Remember the statue in the village? The hero of Greenest? Well, tonight it will 50 years ago that he died in battle. His friends burried him here and planted this oak tree in his honor. The father replies.
Oh! I know! Telurion Oakenshield! He killed a Black Dragon Wyrmling in the old tunnel! The boy says enthusiastically.
The father laughs and answers: Not every story about him may be true. Sometimes stories get exaggerated. However I know one story that's true. On that night Telurion and his friends defended Greenest against an attack from the Dragon Cult. They'd been fighting the whole night. The Cult was retreating, but then a Blua Half-Dragon stepped into the dim light of the dying fires around the keep. Some say he was the offspring of Lennithon himself. Could be, I don't know. Anyway he had 4 prisoners and he was willing to release them in exchange for personal combat with Telurion. Telurion accepted the challenge of course, eventhough he was tired and wounded from previous battles. He was even winning the fight! He knocked the Half-Dragon's weapon from his claws! But he didn't saw the lightening bolt comming from the mouth of the Half-Dragon.... It was his end... The prisoners were released and even the Half-Dragon was impressed by Telurion's prowess...
The boy is silent for a while and then askes: But how do you know that this story is true?
Well... my father, you grandfather, was one of the prisoners!

Eventually the party goes to bed. Some have better rest than others, but none sleep really well. It was a long night and it would around lunchtime when the characters wake up. In the warm light of day Governor Nighthill approaches the characters with a proposal: If they locate the raiders’ camp and find out certain information, he offers to pay them 250 gp apiece. He wants to know where the camp is sited, how many raiders are there, who their leaders are, what’s motivating these attacks, and where they plan to strike next. If characters recover valuables that were stolen from the town, he would like them returned, but he does his best to arrange a reward from what’s left of the town treasury. Recovering treasure, however, is a lesser goal when compared to the other objectives he brings up.

Eek agrees. Together you find a small hill, not far from the village. In your mind's eye you can see a mighty oak there years from now.
The villagers heard want happend and you get the feeling that Telurion will be known as Telurion Oakenshield.
