“Both sound like worthy causes, but I don’t know if either of them are a fit for me.”
"Oh, don't worry too much" winks Khessa. "Eric is joining the Gauntlet, I'm joining the Harpers... and you are a friend of the both of us... so you'll end up helping both factions, of course!"
[[You don't have to join a faction btw. And maybe you want to join another faction later in the campaign. Or a faction you already know (Company of the Prince and King Eek (I looking at you Zale!))]]
(Lol, Sureeee Zale would definitely want to join one of those groups. hmmmm lol Anyways, We shall see what happens.)
Zale listens to the paladin and the monk with mild interest. This idea of factions was appealing, but she doesn't feel like she will fit in to either of them. "I'm with me friend Kriv here. I be honored by the invitation, but don't think I be a good fit for either o yer factions."
She congratulates Eric and Khessa when they come back from their private meetings.
Nixi nods as Khessa speaks, and agrees, "Harpers would be a good fit for me as well."
"You know?" Khessa confidentially whispers in Nixi's ear "Anator is very impressed by your choice to become an Harper, he believes that you are good and brave at least as much as you are pretty!"
And in fact, the bat has somehow poked its tiny head out of the arcane warrior's sea of blond curls and is looking at the she-gnome with... well, they're not human eyes, yet they do seem to express... admiration.
Calvin thinks about the factions and tries to recall what knowledge he has of them and what knowledge he has of the rest of the factions in the world.
(History: 18)
You suddenly seem to remember some things about the Order and the Harpers, most of which you've just been told. You also know of the Lords’ Alliance; a coalition of rulers from cities and towns across Faerûn (primarily in the North), who collectively agree that some solidarity is needed to keep evil at bay. And the Emerald Enclave which you particularly like: it's a far-ranging group that opposes threats to the natural world and helps others survive the many perils of the wild. There are other factions, but you don't care enough about them to learn much.
Anyway... Ontharr continues We now know that the cult is amassing treasure and shipping it north. Where exactly this treasure is going and what the cult plans to do with it are the next two questions that need answering. We would like the you to join the cult’s caravan and accompany it on the journey. You could get hired as guards—if not by the cult’s wagon masters, then by other merchants who are traveling in the same direction at the same time. Merchants from different companies commonly join together to form larger trains for protection. I have contacts among the many merchants of the region. I'm sure a job can be arranged.
Leosin adds: Baldur's Gate is the logical place. No road conveniently bypasses the city—a situation that the gate’s profiteering intermediaries work hard to maintain.
Frume: Baldur’s Gate doesn’t allow wagons, pack animals, horses, or even dogs into the city. The streets are so narrow, steep, and slick from frequent rain that heavy wagons would be a menace. This is actually one of the reasons why Baldur’s Gate is such a bustling commercial hub: for goods to pass through the city from south to north, for example, they must be unloaded in the Outer City east of the wall, carried through the city by porters on foot, and reloaded onto different wagons north of the city for the rest of their journey.
Leosin: The River Chionthar flows directly from Elturel to Baldur’s Gate. A sailing vessel can make that trip downstream in about three days if it ties up overnight for safety, or two if it risks pushing on through the night by lamplight.
Frume: Way ahead of you, my friend! I have already arranged for such a boat to leave at dawn. I will also provide 50 gp each to cover expenses on the trip.
"Sounds great!" exclaims an enthusiastic Khessa "We will be able to reach them and Zale is great at bluffs... we'll get hired by the baddies in no time! Only one thing: did you think of any special mean for us to contact you? You know, just in case we find important information about threats we can't face alone... Are we simply supposed to get back here to warn you, if we need and time allows?"
The first thing you should do when you reach Baldur's Gate is contact Ackyn Selebon. Onthar Frume replies. It's a Human trader that operates an equipage business in the Outer City north of the city wall, in a district called Blackgate. He'll help you along. By the time you reach another big town our contacts there will know of you. And the Order doesn't hide. You should be able to find a member by just asking around.
Zale nods along with the conversation. She hopes these people will do something with their horses, they only payed for one day of stabling after all. Though she supposes Savanna may just sell the animals if the group left them there.
She grins wryly at Khessa's comment. "That be right. I do fancy meself a fine actor and a grand liar." She laughs thinking back when she first met the group. Back when Fisker and Telurion were still with them. The memory was a bittersweet, though she couldn't help laughing at the fact that she and Zeminny had fooled those cultist thugs into thinking they were rounding up prisoners. Ah yes, fun times.
She looks back at Frume, taking in the information about this Ackyn person. Then she grins at Kriv, "Eye, it will be good to be back on a boat. I haven't been on one in, well a long time. Not since..." She trails off, expression falling a bit. Shaking herself she grins again, "Anyway it'll be good to be on the water again. Even if it lacks the salty smell o the sea."
"I thank you for the offer to you in alliance," Calvin replies. "However, I regret to say that I decline your offers."
He then turns to the rest of the group, "I am ready as I ever will be. I am not one for the open seas, but I think the recent encounter with the crocodile will ensure my safety."

Then it's settled! Frume tells you Meet us at dawn at the port, ask for "the Fist" if you can't find us! He gives you guys a look. And make sure that you change your appearance as much as you can in simple ways, to reduce the odds of anyone you might have met at the cult camp recognizing you. Maybe I can provide some new clothing and gear.
Where did you leave the horses if I may ask. Leosin adds.
"My armor is what contributes the most to my appearence..." reflects Khessa "I could swap my chainmail for a splintmail if the Order has one... I'll pay for the difference, of course".
To Leosin: "We left the horses by Savannah, while we were looking for you".
Nixi hears Khessa's comment about appearance and snorts. "Tall, blonde, beautiful warrior... I don't think the armor's the problem. You and I both should probably dye our hair and invest in some makeup to alter our faces a bit."

"Ok, ready to sail away then," smiles Khessa "as far as I am concerned".
"I'm ready too" nods the dwarf.
“It isn’t as pretty as the sea, but it will be nice to be on the water again.”
"I hope so..." Khessa's blue eyes get a little dreamy "I've never been on the water... Can't wait to experience firsthand what it's like!"
Zale nods along with the conversation. She hopes these people will do something with their horses, they only payed for one day of stabling after all. Though she supposes Savanna may just sell the animals if the group left them there.

Zeminny perks up at the mention of boat.." I've never ridden a boat before, this will be amazing"
"Neither did I" shrugs the dwarf "But I saw the sea once. From the top of a mountain"
