On the seventh night, the convoy camps on a hilltop from which you have your first sight of the Mere of Dead Men. It is a chill tangle of trees, brush, boggy ground, standing water, reeds, and cat-tails stretching farther than the eye can see. The rest of the trip will be within sight of the mere. Although it is summer, the nights can be quite chilly this far north.
Not picking up the irony, Kriv remarks as he joins his friends, “Seems pretty dreary to me.” He takes a seat and practices summoning and dismissing his upgraded hammer.
Zale looks between Khessa and Kriv, snickering a bit at Kriv since he clearly didn't catch Khessa's sarcasm. Then she turns back to examining the landscape, "Eye, ya do be right."She says, without directing her words towards either one of them in particular.
Her grin fades as she concentrates farther on the path before them, "It's gonna be a right devil of a time is any of the wagons get stuck in that there sludge."
"I've heard that the rest of the trip will be 'within sight' of the mere," Khessa replies to Zale "not through it - so at least we shouldn't run that risk. However, predators could certainly see us and try to... taste us! Of this, I was mostly worrying".
While Calvin is thinking about lizards and other reptiles Briferhew calls out. Looks like you're under attack this time... Nixi and Zeminny are ordered to join him and Jamna (because they've lots quite a few guards last time).
Khessa, Eric, Kriv, Zale and Calvin are facing about 13 Bandits. They look Human.
Roll for Initiative!
Bandits Initiative: 5 + 1 = 6
Perception check DC 12 reveals:
There's a Bandit Captain among them. Initiative: 15 + 3 = 18
I think you all tell Calvin about the Bandit Captain if his roll isn't high enough. He's in the centre (6 Bandits on the left of him and 6 on his right side).
Round 1
Bandit Captain (18)
Khessa (15)
Eric (12)
Kriv (10)
Zale (7)
Bandits (6)
Calvin (?)
Post when able (this should be a quick fight).
The Bandit Captain oversees the situation and yells: I'll take out the big one! Timon you're with me!
He moves to attack Khessa. And sings twice with his Scimitar: 2 + 5 = 7 to hit (miss) and another 2 + 5 = 7 to hit (miss). With other hand he tries to stab Khessa with his Dagger: 11 + 5 = 16 to hit (and misses again... lousy rolls...)
If I had taken a liking to breath like a dragon (maybe, gradually, Tiamat is influencing me! Lol!)... how many enemies could I fit in a 15' cone? They're still quite grouped, aren't they? The battle has just begun...
Khessa raises an eyebrow, not at all impressed by the opponent's hurried blows, which she easily deflected: "Ah, so you're 'taking me out'? Uhm... Your plan is boring me to death, I suppose?"
After that: If Khessa can include 5-6 enemies in a 15' cone:
A) The blonde arcane warrior takes a hand off the hilt of the Greatsword for a moment, touching, not without a smile of affection, her trusty Steff's Rod and pronouncing ancient words of power.
The next moment, the power of dragons awakens within her... a power she lets out, breathing acid against as many foes as possible.
If she can't include that many:
B) The blonde arcane warrior quickly intones a mysterious whispering psalmody.
The figure of the tall adventuress becomes blurred and indistinct and she takes advantage of the confused expression that appears on the Bandit Captain's face to whirl her heavy blade in a diagonal slash at the collarbone (OOC: using Action Surge to attack).
Moving on!

"What a nice place!" Khessa mutters ironically.
Then she asks Calvin: "You are our nature expert... Do you have any idea what predators or hazard we might have to cope with in this environment?"
Not picking up the irony, Kriv remarks as he joins his friends, “Seems pretty dreary to me.” He takes a seat and practices summoning and dismissing his upgraded hammer.
Calvin considers Khessa's words, "Well... let me think."
