Zale cautiously follows Eric and Khessa deeper into the cave. Hearing Khessa warn of the Violet Fungi, then seeing Eric stumble, she tries to reach out and grab him, but misses. Jumping down the last few nonexistant steps, she moves to help Eric up, "I tried to catch ye, but me depth perception must be off cause o this darkness." She nods to Khessa, "At least ya took care of it before the rest of us ran into it."
Following Khessa towards the next path. After the she points them out, Zale looks up to see the stirge hanging from the ceiling. "Well, I know I can be quiet, but I don't know about them two." She whispers then gestures to Eric and Kriv.
Nixi will creep toward the ledge and carefully look down below.
Stealth 7
The Stirges beginto stir... but nothing happens yet (that a fail, 3 fails and they wake up)
Anyhow, peeking over the legde you see a 10 ft drop to a plateau, another 10 ft drop and finally you see see tantalizing glints of metal and parchment. A strong, foul smell hangs in the air.
Khessa doesn't know (yet) what Nixi saw, but she does know that she heard Nixi inadvertently move some pebbles as she walked... and that noise (perhaps because it is amplified by the echo of the cave) was enough to make the Stirge begin to stir!
"Guys," the blonde arcane warrior whispers "these Stirge are light sleepers... We all will never be able to move without waking them. Especially those in heavy metal armor."(OOC: Which gives disvantage to stealth checks!)"Let's hit them now, while they sleep. At that point the survivors will wake up... but at least we will have already culled their number. If each one of us has at least a ranged weapon and scores a hit... there shouldn't be that many left to wake up. And Nixi can stay prepared to cast a spell of hers, as soon as they wake up, that should be also able to take down all the survivors. She knows a spell" the tall adventurer remembers from studying with her gnome friend "that can put a lot of weak creatures to sleep... The Stirge falling asleep while flying will most likely get killed by their own fall. If you agree, get ready to shoot (or throw) together... Or does someone prefers a different strategy?"
occ: Eric doesn't have any crowd control spell except Silence, of a little utility in this situation, he is very likely to fail stealth check btw xD. I think that it depends by how many Stirges are there and how many we could kill before waking them up... if there are many and we could not kill them (almost) all, we could try sneaking by, reserving Sleep spell in case we fail ( Eric and Khessa have high chance to fail anyway)
(OOC: As you all prefer... but it is exactly because it is easy that we fail, that I was advising striking first. DM wrote about 10 stirge, If Khessa, Eric, Zale and Kriv hit, only 6 stirge should survive - I have 2 handaxes I can lend, if someone hasn't any ranged weapons. And sleep should then be able to take them all. If we try and fail, sleep must take down all 10 stirge... I have no idea if it can take down that many at once or not. If not, some lucky stirge could hit one of us.
So, to summarize:
if we strike first, we are sure to use up a spell slot for sleep, but we are also almost sure to take down all stirge without damage.
If we risk stealth: if we succeed, we save the spell slot. If we fail, we use up the spell slot all the same, but we have also a small chance to get damaged. That said, if we prefer to risk stealth, that also works for me, we can try)
((One thing you might want to consider is that you can only target about 5, maybe 6 of them from were you're standing now. Calvin and Nixi can easily target the other from where they are now. But others will have to press on to reach them))
occ: considering that Eric has no area effects and could takes down just one Strirge and so it will make little difference , I would try to sneak by :D
Stealth check: 10 (7 + 3 from guidance) in the game log
Eric holds up his chainmail and garments, trying to sneak below the Stringes, sliding on the tips of his heavy boots
After hearing Nixi inadvertently move some pebbles Khessa does her best to not make any noise and fails miserably. Not being used to sneaking around Khessa trips over her own feet, the sounds of the Chain Mail (with Khessa in it) hitting the floor sounds ridiculously loud and echoes through this part of the cave. What followed is what can only be described as the "Pippin at the well in the mines of Moria"-scene from LOTR. The Stirges toss and turn in their sleep... luckily they do not wake up!
Khessa blushes visibly, at her clumsy performance. As she manages to get up and cross the critical area without causing further trouble, the blonde arcane warrior murmurs: "Sorry..."
After that, not knowing what else she could add, the tall adventurer sticks to an embarrassed silence.
Nixi makes her way beyond the Fungus garden withour further issue. Some fungus from the Fungus garden dots this area, but she also notices dead bats on the floor. Straight ahead she sees that the floor drops at a ledge (she'll need to get closer to see more). To the right a ruined spear with a pitted blade lies on the floor near, what apears to be, steeply descending steps. To the left there's a wide path that continues further.
For now you can move freely through area 4 without disturbing the Stirges. (As a group you have passed the check)

Calvin looks up and sees the sleep stirges begin to stir. He continues to press on whilst trying to remain quiet as possible.

(Will the stinky stirring stirges strike with strength or stumble and succumb to sleep?)
Oh boy... let's wait if you're saved by your friends...
