Tamryn claps Jhaartael on the shoulder. “You’re the best means to see if the roof is a way in. I know you and that bird of yours can find the answer.” He gives Bardic Inspiration to Jhaartael.
Startled by his familiar's thoughts, Jhaartael reaches out and attempts to see through Artaquetië's eyes. As he does so, his own eyes go black, mirroring those of the raven.
Akyan doesn't bother to try to recognize the creatures. Aside from horses, animals aren't things he knows much about for the most part, besides he's sure one of his companions probably knows at least a little about them. So, rather than studying the creatures, he studies the building and the area surrounding it. He's not against climbing up, but he doesn't want to do that unless he knows here is a way in from up there. Otherwise it would just be a waste of time and energy.
He's specifically looking for windows, though if the house has a chimney that looks large enough for them to fit through that could work as well. He's also keeping an eye out for any other guards, whether they are outside or if there are windows if he can see them passing by.
(Also, what time of day is it? Need to know if I have to roll at disadvantage...)

This very large circular building is flat-topped, and you cannot really see the roof (although the raven reports back to Jhaartael that the roof is flat with a small walled structure in the center that could be entered through a closed door).

At first the rooftop appears empty to Jhaartael's raven-eyes. But with the encouragement of the new bard ringing in his ears, he concentrates more fully, and begins to notice a shimmering in the air around the mid-roof structure. Suddenly his vision snaps into focus, and he realizes that the shimmering is actually the outlines of a huge, cube-shaped mass of transparent jelly, nearly invisible when not moving. Although... perhaps there are two of the cubes. It is extremely difficult to discern the outlines of the creature(s).
Jhaartael stands stark still a moment. His eyes shift back to their normal elven form. As a gazing monument he stands. Then, "Most interesting." he says clearly to his companions, "The cats are apex predators of the Feywild. Rather intelligent, and difficult to kill. The roof does appear to have a possible entrance, but it is blocked or guarded by one or possibly two huge, transparent, moving, cube-shaped masses."
As he finishes talking, he extends his right arm as a perch for the returning Artaquetië, then transfers the familiar to his left shoulder.
Akyan replies to Tamryn, "That actually makes me a bit more wary of him. Since there's only one, that means he has to be strong enough to hold his own. Though if Mina wants to go through with talking with it, whether it be telepathically or not, then maybe it would be best just to take him out."
"I still think talking to the sphynx is a way to start. Definitely appears to be an intelligent creature, even has a name, Hammurabi. Not only that, he was able to block my senses in finding out more about it. I just am kind of at a loss where to start? Telepathically can make sense, but he already knew which direction I was just by sensing.. not sure if that matters. I mean, we could start out asking what he is doing there?" Mina looks a bit frustrated, was hoping the roof had more luck than these two guarded doors.
“Well” Lyndaran says “he is guarding the entrance so people like us cannot enter to the building… and he is helping those people to hold a kid hostage…. I mean being intelligent doesn’t mean that he is willing to talk, even more, help us o let us inside. I am open to try to con him into thinking that we are in their side, but despite his impressive looks I think we should treat it for what he is… a guard. A guard with powers for what you are saying Mina, so I doubt that our usual magic and mental means of deception are not going to work, if we are going to talk our way in it must be just that… smooth talk. “ Lyndaran shrugged “I mostly growl and bark so… I cannot help with that”
It seems we have no good options, Kyrsa thinks before saying. “I must agree with Akyan. The sphinx seems like the larger threat. And like Lyndaran said, it might not be willing to talk. We’ve seen how well smooth talking has worked in the past, so I rather think we should take our chances with the panthers. Even if they are intelligent and difficult to kill, we only need to get them out of the way.” She pauses, “Perhaps we should split up into teams. A team of two to create a distraction while the rest of us sneak in. Hopefully the two person team can make it into the building, but right now we just need to make sure someone gets inside unnoticed. We are on a time limit.”
She eyes the panthers for a moment, “ Though we might not need a distraction if we can all move quietly enough. But if we try that we should try our luck with the sphinx. It’s harder to spot intruders with only one set of eyes.”
"Wouldn't making a ruckus in one gate will attract the attention of the other guardians? I mean... if we fight the panthers like creature perhaps the sphynx will join them. But if we just draw some of them out of the gate and the others manage to sneak inside... the sphynk will not leave his post... right? "
Tamryn thinks for a moment. "All right, my friends. Percy said time is of the essence and that means we will have to act on insufficient information. One door has one guard, one has two and the third has three. None of us has ever fought these creatures before, correct? Nor are we particularly familiar with them. There are two doors with handles and one without. The raven reports something on the roof, but a shimmering outline could mean anything, perhaps including an illusion. I would tend to think that we can dispatch three cats relatively quickly and quietly and that is the surest way inside. Do you foresee a reason not to? Surely we must get moving."
We'll say 10 minutes have passed in surveillance and discussion. It occurs to you that of the three guarded entrances, only one of the guardians is of humanoid-level intelligence. So, if you want to talk your way in, that would be the way. If you want to hack and slash, probably choose the cubes. And if you want to play cat and mouse... well you can figure that out.
"I agree with Tamryn. I think we should try the door guarded by the panthers and just try to sneak in. We could even go in two groups that way if one group is spotted, then the other still has a chance to get through."
As the groups focus turns towards the cats, Mina shrugs and uses her Hunter's Sense on those creatures as well.
Hunter’s Sense
As an action, choose one creature you can see within 60 ft. You immediately learn whether the creature has any damage immunities, resistances, or vulnerabilities and what they are if the creature is not hidden from divination magic. You can use this feature 2 times per long rest.
As his companions' plans begin to focus on the fey cats, Jhaartael says, "I have never known a cat that could resist chasing a spot of reflected light... I could provide lights enough for each of these cats to chase."
"Yes, let's try that," Kyrsa says to Lyndaran. "Tamryn is right, we should be able to deal with the panthers, and we need to get moving." She pauses, "If one of us must play bait, then I'll volunteer. If it comes to that, I will do my best to lure them away, and then reach the door as quickly as possible, but don't wait for me."
She takes a step towards where the panthers are guarding the door. "Well?"
"Can't you cojure an illusion for those panthers to chase? it should be sight and smell I think... " he takes his bow "If we are going to kill them... Just give me a few moments to prepare and allow me to take the first shoot please. That will give me some advantages... "
Mina smiles at Jhaartael, "Now lights for them to chase? That could prove to be a clever idea. Kyrsa, hang on, I would like to share what my hunter's sense gives me first on these cats...."

Jhaartael offers, "my illusion magic is limited. I thought instead to provide some dancing lights for them to chase."
Seeing his group preparing to engage, Jhaartael utters "sandastan" as a protective field shimmers briefly about him.
