Tamryn curses. Looking at his two companions, he decides to tackle Lyndaran, rope in hand, in an attempt to hog-tie him (rodeo style). (Grapple, of course, but then Survival?)
Grapple Athletics Check: 11
Survival (or whatever I ought to use): 23 (nat 20, fwiw)
(If I still have a bonus action (not sure if the item interaction counts for that), I'll use it to look for secret doors in the hold.)

So the grapple is fine, but the attempt to restrain will have to be next round, if the grapple succeeds (Lorna/Lyndaranshould roll Athletics or Acrobatics, her choice).
For the restraining attack, if the target is grappled, simply make a second grapple attack (Athlet vs Athlet or Acro) and if that succeeds, we'll say you have restrained the target.
After that, to escape the restraints, it would be their Acro or Sleight of Hand vs your Survival.
Akyan feels his body move without his approval. Still able to see and feel everything, but unable to do anything. It’s like his own body has become a prison, a living prison bent on killing his friend.
As Kyrsa struggles with the trap door she hears Akyan’s voice in her head once again. He sound extremely panicked, “H-He’s got me! The ghost, he’s controlling me! The other one’s got Lyndaran, they-they’re making us fight! Hurry! I can’t—can’t make him stop! ”
Kyrsa blinks, quite unsettled by the panic in the young drowns voice, "Oh...dear. Okay. Don't worry, we are coming. ...Just got to lift this blasted door!"
"Mina, Jhaartael, it sounds like Akyan and Lyndaran are possessed. We need to get down there. Quickly!" She heaves again on the door, unable to do anything else without a crowbar. As she struggles, she glances around the deck to see if there is anything that could be useful in this situation.
(I have a rope...is there anything we could use to loop it around so we can tie the door open? Or was that destroyed with the pulleys? I'm thinking if there is any sort of mast that is still intact we could toss the rope over it and use it to create a new pulley.)

The pulleys are still present up in the rigging, it was the winch (The crank that pulls the rope and keeps it from slipping back) that broke. If you reattach the rope to the pulleys, it will give you advantage on strength as you pull the rope. Yes, there is a nearby mast that could secure the rope (Mina would have advantage on the rope-tying due to her nautical background), and yes, there is some lumber lying around that could be used as a lever and fulcrum (which could be used instead of pulleys for advantage).
"I have a rope in my pack," Kyrsa says. "Mina, perhaps you could attach it to the pulleys? Or the mast? Anything to help give us some leverage. Theres also some lumber over there, perhaps it can compensate for our lack of a crowbar." She nods towards the lumber, "I think I can manage lifting the door enough for one of you to wedge the wood in there."
Strength check (without advantage, can make a second roll if conditions change): 6

(sorry, been a bit under the weather)
"Possessed? Are you, are you sure?" Mina pulls out her spear, grabs some lumber to help solidify the shaft and jabs the tip into the crack of the door for leverage.

Yes, but I would call that an item interaction next round, meaning you could still move and have your regular action afterwards.
Tamryn 20- tests the door, and finds it unpickable. He then tries to grapple Lorna/Lyndaran. (Need roll from Lyndaran to counter grapple)
Akyan - 19- will not act until Barty's turn in round 3 (although mental communication is available at any time)
Lyndaran - 17 -will act on Lorna's initiative
Mina - 15- begins applying leverage to the hatch
Kyrsa - 14- The Eladrin gets her knees under her and lifts the hatch further
Lorna/Lyndaran- 13- pending
Jhaartael - 5 - With an unexpected burst of raw power, the wizard grabs the edge of the door and tosses it up and over. Next round all three of the elves on the shelf (deck) can descend.
"Ye think I care what this body looks like ye silly lass?" Akyan laughs evilly as he let's Lyndaran's sword fall past him harmlessly, "It's just gonna add more bones to the pile, just like the one ye be puppitin around!" He flourishes his rapier again, pointing it at Lyndaran. Giving a slight bow, he lifts the hat off his head in a mocking gesture. Unbeknownst to the ghost, this drops the spell which had disguised Akyan as a human. "Now, if ye don't mind, let's get on with this little contest shall we? Hehe, if I win this one, that'll be puttin me two ahead a ye!"Placing the hat back on his head, he lunges forward once again trying to stab Lyndaran in the shoulder.

"Don't worry?! DON'T WORRY?!!!!"Akyan replies frantically, "He's going to make me KILL Lyndaran and I can't do anything about it!" The drow isn't getting any less panicked as he tries to struggle against the ghost's will but to no avail.

Now that the hatch is finally open, she hurriedly grabs the rope from Kyrsa, and ties it to the nearby mast to ensure they don't slam close on them as they decend.

The voice of the children comes out of Lyndaran's mouth and she produces the shortsword of the elf and heads dirtectly on against Akyan.

Tamryn tried to grapple Lorna/Lyndaran, you need to make either an Athletics or an Acrobatics roll to contest it.
