"My hope was that my spell would lift this dark curse from her body. Unfortunately I was unsuccessful in this endeavor. I ask this of you however. Leave her with us. She need not join your pack, but I have a feeling. I don't think her time has yet come, and I see her impact on this world still has potential to be great. All life is precious, and I do what I can to preserve it. I can't reverse the suffering she's caused you, but in exchange for her life, I can offer you something. Take your pack and roam north, up a great many miles to the forest outside Thundertree. There you'll find a very old friend of mine, he's particularly fond of wolves such as yourself. He can help you restore your pack to their former glory. What do you say?"
Valathar again extends his hand, and smiles as warmly as a dragon man can.
At the mention of the party's agreement to kill the She-Wolf, AB's face shows surprise, and he looks about at the others before turning to watch Val again. Then, after Val's final offer, AB begins to smile warmly at the wolfpack.
The Alpha She-Wolf turns away from the outstretched hand, and offers a sideways look at the entire party, which settles on the cursed wolf.
“You’re excuses and meaningless hunt for peace will be your unduing Druid. You have freed me, which is a life debt that you are fruitlessly wasting now, if I ever see you or you’re like, you will be just another intruder in our territories. Enjoy your new slave, just remember what she did to her previous masters.”
The She-Wolf will make to leave the camp site. Unless anyone has anything more to say, either to them or your new captive, we will progress to the next chapter of the story sometime later. Also before I forget, Bat-Ears and Stone Bitter rejoined their clan sometime yesterday, so the only NPC you currently have is ‘S.W.D.I.T.H’
Kor couldn't say that he was happy about the lost opportunity to gain a magic item, but neither was he disappointed at Val's decision to spare the wolf. Kor wouldn't flinch from putting down a wild animal, but it would make him more than a little uneasy if that animal had just had a full blown conversation with two people.
On the topic of animals, Kor got to work a task he had been looking forward to. After he had gathered the necessary materials, Kor cast the spell linking his mind to the fey plane his familiar came from. Since the familiar was already in the Material Plane, this casting of the spell simply allowed the spirit to take a new form. Eager to no longer have close contact with a spider big enough to latch onto his face, *Kor shudders at the though*, he mentally selects the new form the spirit will assume.
The spider appeared in front of him, wriggling its multiple legs in excitement, and began to glow with a fey light. When the light died down, in it's place was an owl the length of Kor's forearm. It looked quite majestic with feathers in varying shades of green and gold, with piercing eyes that shined like bullion. As if aware of the majesty of its form, the owl stretched its wings wide and began to pace in a slow circle as if to allow everyone the pleasure of seeing its glory from all angles. When its back was to Kor he further admired his familiars wings as the were stretched to their full span. "That's actually fairly pretty," he said to no one in particular, "After seeing that spider form, I was expecting it be a bit more creep--"
Kor's words died in his throat as the owl quickly rotated its head 180 degrees to stare him directly in the eyes. "Nevermind."
It seemed the spirit had a penchant and a knack for trying to get under his skin. Reminds of someone I know. As his thoughts drifted back to his not-so-buried past, Kor had a thought. I know the perfect name for the spirit. It's weird having to think of it as "the spider" or something, especially since it can change form. It definitely reminds me of Naomi, so why not name it after her? She wouldn't like that, but she'll never know.
Coming to a decision he said out loud to the spirit, "I've decided you're a girl spirit and your name will be Mimi!"
The owl closed its wings and rotated the rest of its body around with a soft "HOOOOO."
Mav watches Kor, admiring his knack for the arcane. "That's much better than that spider before!" Mav packs his back pack and finishes his meditation, noticing that the wolf is still with them embraces the new friendship and ally "I will say, I am not too fond of you staying with us, bt welcome the extra friend. I hope you will be more loyal to those that spareed you.."

AB packs his things as well and grins a broad grin at the party. "Well, lads, I appreciate the save, and I appreciate the breakfast. If you're ever in Neverwinter, look up ole Abraham. You never know — I might still be there." He gives one final glowering look at the now-empty cave before turning north and beginning walking.
"AB, wait. Come with us, you prove a greater fighter and we could use your help in searching for our employer. He may even be willing to pay for his rescue!"

Feeling much more comfortable having his familiar outside of her pocket dimension now that she wasn't a spider, Kor sends Mimi out to survey the area for any goblins or wolves and to get a feel for her new wings.
Kor turns to the fat ranger to say farewell, but is cut off by Mav. Well, one more sword arm can't hurt, we were hard pressed to fight that giant goblin by itself, I'm betting these Black Spiders will be even tougher if this turns to blows.
Mimi Perception: 21 (Owls had advantage on perception checks for hearing and sight; and dark vision for 120ft.)
OOC: Forgot to mention before, but Kor prestidigitates all that ash and blood off of him before he goes to sleep and asks Val to mend any damaged items.
Also, FYI, Kor gets Cunning Action at lvl 2. It allows him to use the dash, disengage, or hide actions as a bonus action each turn.
After the wolves left, Valathar stood and walked back to the group. Still holding the wolfs collar, he motions to Ab. "If I may, I'll third the sentiment. It wouldn't be bad to have someone else help us along to Phandelever at least. I'm sure Gundren could find some coin for you as well. Might make up for the lost wages these goblin's promised you. Plus you saved my scaly hide in there. Without you, Klarg would have smashed us to bits. What do you say?"
AB grins broadly as he looks at the motley group. "A reward, you say? As my last venture ended so abruptly, I am in need of a new ... direction. You're headed to Phandelever to rescue someone else, you say? Is that what you three do? Rescue those in distress?"
The time passes, and your wagon gets rolling back along the Tri-Boar trail. With periodic updates from your owl familiar who flys hundreds of feet above the party, you make your way out of the forestry area that marked the southwest end of the Neverwinter woods, into open plains and praries. Miles of flat, dry grassy land greet you in a few hours of nearly unbearable boringness, before Mini sets down on Kor’s outstretched arm and reports of a town up ahead.
A series of hills gently test the groups legs, and on top of one of the many hills those with good eyesight can make out buildings in one of the gentle valleys in a nest of hills. The town consists of about forty to fifty simple log buildings. Remeants of old stone buildings, crumbling and covered in ivy and brairs, surround the newer buildings. Going by the ruins, the town could have been twice the size it currently is in years past.
Most of the newer log buildings surround either side of the main road. The road leads up a hill on the far side of town, ending at a overly large manor house that looks almost like a fortress looking down at the town. In the center of the road and town, halfway between you and the manor house, a large well springs up in the middle of the road, making a sort of roundabout, and many townspeople are congregated there, firming a tight ring around something obscured by the sheer number of bodies.
As the group approaches Phandelver, Valathar will pull the wolf in a little closer. Reaching out, he scratches the beast behind the ear. "Stay close now. I can't protect you if you do anything rash.." he whispers almost inaudibly, positive she heard him. "Let's find out." Valathar replies to Berrus' query. "Hello, what's going on?" Valathar shouts to the nearest townsfolk over the sound of the rumbling cart, gesturing with his hand at the crowd.

Seeing an opportunity to test their connection in Mimi's new form, Kor sends her to land on a nearby rooftop with a good sightline looking over the heads of the crowd to whatever they are gathering around. Using the owls sharper senses, Kor attempts to see and hear what the crowd seems to be focused on:
Kor: You’re familiär reports that several of the towns people are congregated around a old looking human that has collapsed next to the town well. His arm is nearly glowing in a sickly green light, pulsating, even in the bright noon daylight
Val: The person you asked is a ordinary looking young maiden, 16-18, and she does a double take upon looking at your rather unique build. Not everyday someone sees a large lizard with a wolf on a leash. “Oh-ah-Ah—ahm-wa-well... a.. an old man apparently came stumbling into town, nobody knows from where, a few minutes ago, and his arm is covered in weird green marks, I-I think.” She then tries to subtely scooch in another direction as the crowd looses and gains onlookers, coming in and out of the buildings surrounding the Well.

Did Dancer get breakfast?
On the trip to the town, AB introduced himself again, suggesting any who would like to may call him "AB" instead of Abraham. Someone asked what the B stood for, and Abraham laughed heartily, saying, "You'll have to get me on the other side of several pints of ale to find that out, laddie!"
Once they reach town, AB will perceive what's going on and the type of people living here (simple, wealthy, etc.?): 4

Quick question before I detail Valathar's actions. Would it be considered strange to bring a wolf into town with us, assuming she'd leashed?
Not leashed: towns people would panic unless you had a reputation
Leashed: you’ll get a lot of weird and terrified looks but no outright chasing you out of town
"Wonder what the commotion is all about"
