"What's the plan?" Sam asks. "Is there a plan?" Answered or not, Sam is right there besides Elthana ready to follow her play. He had intended to head to the Treasury and try to figure out what was going on from there but hopefully she has a clue about that already.
"If we broke the remaining chains at ground level then at least they wouldn't fall and crush more buildings..." Sam huffed out as he ran. Of course he was being sarcastic, cutting the Treasury loose would send it floating off to who knows where... Or flying off into the sky... Both of which would probably be bad. Probably.
Muir the giant loxodon blares his trunk making a loud horn noise as Elthana and Sam get moving. Hoping to get their attention he bends down allowing them to get on so they can traverse the city with speed.
Neferox gives a nod and vin receives a signal to return, Iver looks to Elthana understanding but hesitant, "I have my orders but sod it, you're right." He rushes off and begins yelling orders to the guard over the din, having some of them collect supplies and having others direct the masses toward a place called the 'block fire memorial'.
As Mammoth Muir takes direction and speeds up the groups traversal, they make their way back into the council District and over to the west side where a Gondola station awaits them.
The wires holding the Gondola up are slack and look to need attention. Several people in a hanging cart are stuck in the middle, as the sagging line makes their descent to the station itself impossible. By the mechanism there is one monk with their hand on a shining stone, they look over to the group and yell frantically, "Elthana we need to get this line taught or this ain't gonna work, those at the top can't do anything, if the line is pulled or raised from there the entire thing could fall off the pulley system! We gotta do something this end, it's the only way."
The snow that had collected on the ground and buildings of the treasury start to slip off casting walls of heavy frozen slush down onto part of the city. The slack chains on the east of the floating island seem to groan and sag a little more, as if the island itself is slowly and surely losing height.
“So you need us to pull the line taut?” Sam asks. “Or is there more to it?”
If that is the basic immediate need, Sam figures with looping a bit of it around their pachyderm so they can lend their strength and weight, Sam can try his Bag of Tricks to see what he pulls as well as enlarge himself… Perhaps this may be enough? But he waits to see if it’s more than just the line needing to be pulled…
Vin was being busy saving folks and directing them as best he could when Nef relayed the message to them. The half-elf makes their way flying back over to the group. Nef seems relieved to have him on the ground where she can protect him. He come sover to the others and says "Nef said you needed me? What do you need me to do?" He takes a moment then says "Is Muir a mammoth? That's so cool."
Gewyn runs up behind the others, a little out of breath. "Oh that's not great,"he says, looking at the suspended gondola. "If only we had a way to just get a few people off of there, to lighten the load, it would make it easier to get the right angle on the cable on our end."
"Ooh, good call Gewyn. Vin, are you able to take passengers on that broom of yours? Even one at a time? It could help at least." Elthana watches Muir as she says this, hoping the giant mammoth is making leeway with the slack rope.
"Could always just have them jump," Sam says sarcastically.
Sam is happy enough to go and try to use his strength to assist Muir in making the cable taut once more if he can get to a place where he can brace himself and grip the cable. "I could try my luck and see if I pull the giant boar or goat to assist," he says aloud, half talking to himself and half putting it out there. "But they'd likely have to stay down here once we find a way up and may need them more up there... Assuming I even draw lucky,"
As Muir starts pulling the weight of the mass of cable as well as the Gondola filled with people don't make for an easy time, even with Sam's help the two struggle.
Some screams from behind signal that something is coming, and vin hovering in the air sees a white streak make its way through the crowds to the south and through the gates of the council District. Before anyone can react a familiar giant white wolf leaps over the group and onto the top cable which is being tightened by the weight of the Gondola below, it deftly begins running up the cable and toward the treasury district. The Gondola wobble even more precariously at the new movement, the people inside seeing a massive white wolf approach them start to panic and scream.
Vin was about to fly up and see what he can do. He wasn't sure if the broom could support anyone except him. He feels the broom isnt ready for that kind of thing.... but he has to try right? At the very least he has rope and other things. Perhaps he can do something to help folks calm down. He nods to Elthana and says "I dont think anyone too heavy but if there are kids, maybe. I can at least get to them to help in other ways."
It was then the wolf sprints up the line and Vin isn't sure what to expect from it but he hopes it doesn't attack anyone. He quickly soars towards the gondola unsure what he could do if the wolf does attack anyone. The situation dark as it is. Why was it here though? Did it chatge through the city gates when the beam of light shot up? He doubts it would of come all this way just to target folks on a potentially falling gondola. Whatever brought it here he flies up to help folks trapped in mid air.
Nef looks lividly angry. She barks a ferocious warning to the white wolf. In that moment Vin flee up towards where it was running along the line making the black hound panic a bit. Neferox begins looking for a way to follow. Eyeing the line that the white wolf ran up and it's clear she's planning the same.
The wolf doesn't glance back at Neferox though it does bark and howl a little in response.
Vin is fast on the broom, but wobbly. He reaches the Gondola just as the wolf does, and then without stopping, the wolf continues sprinting up the cable and toward the treasury.
The people in the Gondola appear to be clerks and administrator's fleeing the falling district, no children are aboard. Though as Vin gets close they carefully open the door and let him in decrying his help.
As folks cry for his help Vin reassures them and says "Don't worry, I'll get you all down. Going to be one at a time though as my broom can only handle one person at a time. So let's get started. Alright, let's get started, you first." He points to whoever is closest.
Vin will help them on the broom making sure they have a good grip saying "Alright hold on tight, it'll move on its own. Let go once you touch ground and get off quick so i can summoj it back." Vin then uses the brooms name to command it down to the ground saying "Bry'ze. To the ground." Sending the first person down nearby Elthana as she might know them. As soon they get off he calls the broom back and gets the next person on it. While waiting in-between broom deliveries he gazes back in the direction the wolf went to see if he can tell where it is going. He's quite glad he was right in assuming it wasn't here to hurt anyone. But what is it after? What did it want?
He'd have to wait to go scope out the wolf's agenda once he finished saving folks here though. Working as fast as he can he keeps sending onendown, summoning the broom back loading another on and repeat. Each time the broom returns he looks it over quickly to make sure the broom is okay. He flew a lot on it on his way back to Marblestead so hopefully just carrying one person at a time won't be too hard on it.
When the wolf first appears Sam drops his maul and grabs his longbow, immediately notching an arrow… But before he can let loose it is already out of range. Seen Vin using his broom as a ferry to rescue those in the gondola, Sam looks desperately around for other ways up.
“Our strength doesn’t seem to be enough to make the cable taut,” Sam concedes looking at Muir but mostly talking to himself. “I could grow but that doesn’t increase my strength…” (adv to STR. checks but we already had adv due to help…)
“Is there another way up?” He asks idly, looking at the cable and the chains and trying to gauge likelihood of being able to climb those to the top…
The wolf quickly disappears once it has reached the floating island but not before barking a couple of responses at Muir, not stopping or taking a moment to look back as it does.
It takes vin about 30 minutes to get all ten people to the ground, the broom descends slowly as the people white knuckle it all the way down clutching onto the wobbly broom for dear life, they are thankful for the descent and quickly run off into town as a group.
"There is another way up, bit it's only traversable by people trained in what I'm trained in" Elthana says holding a hand up and showing tendrils of shadow that waft off it like smoke to punctuate her point, "we need to get up there Sergor is going to meet us and then we can see what we can do to help with the portal situation, I've no idea what the wolf wants... But this cable needs stretching out, though it still needs to be able to move freely back and forth so the Gondola can go up and down, or else it'll be useless." She looks between Sam and the mammoth Muir "The people are off now, it should be lighter yes? Can we get something for it to wrap around and then we shove whatever that is back as far as possible and wedge it in place? A big boulder or a statue or something? Either that or we could weigh down the top line and that would tighten the bottom, right? Though we'd have to find the middle point or the weight would block the pulleys as it travelled back and forth..."
Sam stands looking from Muir’s mammoth shape to the pillar to the gondola and back again for a couple lengthy minutes…
“C’mon big guy, let’s try this…” Sam says as he begins sauntering over to the pillar, waving for Muir to follow. “We might be able to make some things happen, if what they said about my armor is true…”
"What's the plan?" Sam asks. "Is there a plan?" Answered or not, Sam is right there besides Elthana ready to follow her play. He had intended to head to the Treasury and try to figure out what was going on from there but hopefully she has a clue about that already.

Mammoth Muir toots his horn and trots over to the line and begins to pull with all of his mammoth might

Muir angrily toots his horn at Nef and the Wolf
