Elthana watches her friends attempt and well, fail. Seeing the boy at the far end of the room hanging from a lower platform, she uses the reaction Gewyn bestowed upon her to run towards the boy and as she jumps up to invert gravity...
she gets 2 feet off the ground and crashes on her ass. She glares at Griff. "C'mon, you have to have some more teachings than this? None of us are getting it!" the frustration obvious in her voice.
"is about a force of will, you have to be believing truly in your core that you are choosing which way is down" Griff calls out, "you must be accepting your failures and embracing that this is play, once you are beginning to have fun you will be stopping the over thinking, the doubting of yourself, you are needing to let go, yes?
I am being happy that you all tried to go full force, attempting to invert completely, not walking up walls, you are brave to not take the gentle roads and go first to the walls"
The kids flap and jig around as they move places,
The first child now with only two ribbons flaps his wings and flies toward the middle of the room hovering mid flight upside down between the ball and the door (20ft away from Muir and 20ft above his inverted position)
The second child on the ball stops running around it's axis and stands triumphantly on top of it instead a mere 10ft from vin who is still standing sideways on it attempting not to shift his weight too much.
The last child blows a raspberry at Elthana and giggles at her before jumping from the underneath of the platform and running along the wall 30ft from greens position on the ceiling and 30ft from Elthana on the floor.
Griff looks to Sam and laughs, "if you are being concerned that you will be too big and be crushing my kids, I understand" he puts a hand on Sam's pauldron and calls out to his kids in Auran, looking back to Sam he says "they will be happy to be having more players on their team, after all four Vs three is not being fair now run!" As he lifts his hand the whole party sees three strips of cloth are now stuck to Sam's shoulder.
Sam eyes Griff and lets out a bit of a growl. "You think they can't get crushed just because I am 'on their team?'" Sam asks. Then Sam shrugs and jumps at Muir. It's maybe a toss up of which of the two is larger, Sam or Muir, but if Sam is going to consider anything besides the ground as the source of gravity it may as well be the biggest thing he can see.
"You two flank me, keep everyone away from my shoulder!" And with that Sam jumps into the air and decides Muir is the center of gravity!
Wis: 11
Sam catches some air... Perhaps even more than he should be able to from just a jump... But then he falls back down to the floor. On the bright side nobody knew exactly what he was trying to do so it wasn't as embarrassing as it could be. Ógra and Boris just shift position around Sam and look around for threats, not having to try to do any of this craziness themselves yet. (The animals are basically holding their actions to shove anyone who gets too close away...)
Muir lays there watching Sam fall to the ground beside him. He decides to get up and try again leaping to the ceiling (floor?). This time he is sure he got it....alas he did not fallling back to the ground landing on Sam.
Gewyn winces a bit as he runs, but he doesn't seem badly injured. He sees the second kid now standing on top of the ball, and changes targets. Running along the ceiling until he is nearly above him, Gewyn plays another song on his pipes, bolstering spirits once more. (Mantle of inspiration: everyone gains 8 temp hp again [non-stacking], and can move for a reaction once more).
Gewyn once more loses his bearings in the flip, and lands on all fours on top of the ball, reaching for a strip but missing. (Wisdom Save: 9 | Attack: 6)
Sam swears and rolls to the side just before he is made a cushion for Muir. "Sorry," he calls out to Griff with an apologetic face, not having meant to swear in front of the young ones.
"But not to you!" Sam then grunts and pushes Muir away with a grunt.
Watching Sam and Muir tussle like children, Elthana chuckles and feels a bit of lightness return as the game is underfoot and Sam is now batting for the other team. She winces as she sees Gewyn fall again, but is bolstered by his music and Griff's words of making this feel like a game...
She's about to run at the wall and get the kid, but she wants to try something else. She again pushes off from the ground and flips herself around, landing upside down on the platform above her head, right in the spot the kid vacated. Grinning maliciously at the poor child, she runs after him and attempts to grab a strip... and easily snatches it off the poor child.
"Boooo!" Sam yells up at Elthana as he watches her handling this all with annoying ease and going after the child. He was, after all, on the kid's team now!
Sam makes a fist and begins to bring it quickly to his chest to pound against and invoke one of the runes there... But stops at the last moment. Elthana is too far away, he can't stop here from stealing the small kid's flag.
Vin sees an opportunity to flank the kid on the ball as Neferox and Gewyn seem to have them cornered, and so vin moves quickly from tye side of the ball to the top, buy fails in adjusting his gravity properly and slips off falling toward the back wall of the chamber and landing with a crash (5 dam). Neferox seeing vin in danger goes sprinting off to bark at him on the wall.
The first child with only two ribbons, seems a little sad that no one chased him this round and decides to fly over to the platform at the rear of the room 20ft from where vin just landed.
The second kid still having all three strips, on the ball flips upside down falling away from Gewyn and goes sprinting off toward their dad by the north wall standing on the wall behind him only 10ft away from Muir and Sam.
The last kid on the wall with Elthana squeals in mock terror as she takes a strip off of him, he jumps off with a flap giggling as they touch the ceiling and then fall toward the opposite wall, landing softly with the aid of their wings. Now 40ft away from Gewyn in the middle.
"Now you are beginning to understand, remembering the lessons I said before, if you are feeling you are losing balance, be keeping low you will be moving slower but easier yes? And if you are needing to go somewhere, gradual change in orientation is easier, like I am saying before, you are all trying hard to get far fast yes? This is good, but some risk are being unnecessary."
Pfffft, Sam sees no real reason to listen to Griff. He's not chasing ribbons but to protect his own he decides to go on the offensive... Sam grabs ahold of Muir, who is laying right next to him, and attempts to turn gravity from the floor to the ceiling. He plans to try dropping Muir about halfway between the two, if the scheme works.
Wisdom Check: 18+2 for 20...
Grapple check 12+8 if needed for grabbing Muir and bringing him with... halfway.
Muir still staring up at the ceiling feels hands grab him and hoists him up. Seeing it’s Sam he doesn’t fight Sam picking him up. However he was not ready for what Sam was about to do as he figured Sam was helping him up. About halfway through the transition from floor to ceiling , Sam hurls Muir towards one of the kids…..Muir squeals a bit but gracefully recovers pirouetting through the air grabbing one of the flags
The kid positioned on the wall just above Griff is not expecting a falling loxodon to whip a cloth strip off of him and doesn't have much chance to avoid it. At this point all three kids are down to only two strips left with Sam still having three.
Vin quickly recovers his balance and stands on the back wall, "up on the wall nef, you can do it, flank!" He shouts over to bed on the floor who full runs to the right and deftly pushes her gravity to the side, now running up the wall she positions herself behind the child on the platform and barks loudly distracting the kid. Meanwhile vin leaps from the back wall using his broom to swing on as he changes his direction to have gravity pull him toward the platform. Vin lands smoothly next to the child and easily takes a cloth strip as the kid is distracted.
Five cloth strips now remain with the kids, and three on Sam.
Boris, pig headed and thick but obedient, blindly tries to follow Sam in his foolishness. As Sam begins to basically fall up towards the ceiling Boris jumps after him and almost accidentally stumbles into the wisdom needed to change his point of gravity and follow after the Orc...
Ógra is a little more intellectual, however, and still needs convincing that which was is up and which is down is malleable. As the lion grunts and tries to follow Sam it too leaps into the air, but then finds itself falling right back down to the ground like any logical lion should. Ógra lets out a roar as he hits the ground with a thump on his ass... He is not amused!
After being able to handle the gravity situation a little better, Elthana takes a look around, amused by the kids antics. But then sees that Sam has apparently joined the other side. "Traitor!" she yells out, and jumping from her position, changing gravity in the middle of her leap and landing next to her friend. She reaches out to take one of Sam's ribbons.. (attack 14 - does that work for this? I don't remember lol)
((I forget how we are snatching flags... But Boris is also under orders to shove anyone who gets too close away so they have that readied action! lol))
Elthana runs across the ceiling quickly covering ground to go for Sam when Boris gets in her way attempting a shove, she deftly feigns left and then confuses the beast as she circumvents his intervention, but it is enough of a warning for Sam to dodge her grab for his flags.
Noticing the commotion by Sam, Gewyn reappraises the situation. He grins slightly, and then vanishes into a puff of mist. He then appears next to Sam and Elthana, taking advantage of Boris' distraction, and reaches for one of Sam's flags. (Attack 18)
The child on the back wall now with only one flag left looks a little worried and flaps on over to stand on the large ball in the middle away from vin and the others.
The two other children call out to eachother in Auran, their language not understood, though most of the group who have been rambunctious kids know that the sound of the planning of mischief transcends language. Griff calls out too warning them not to do whatever it's that they are planning, but it appears that his warning went unheeded as both kids fall toward the center of the room and at the last moment before they collide into one another, their clawed feet clasp around eachother and they begin spinning in mid air above the ball, giggling as they begin to speed up, becoming a whirlwind of beaks, feathers and flags flapping in the tumult.
One flag remains on the child standing on the ball, two on each of the spinning children giggling above, and the final two on Sam's shoulder as he is surrounded by Elthana, Gewyn and Muir to some degree who is below them.
Sam is not happy about the shenanigans and less so about Gewyn thinking he can win! As a reaction Sam invokes the Could Rune on his armor and thus Gewyn finds himself trying to snatch the ribbon from someone else who is within 30' of Sam... (In preferential order: Kid with one flag left, one of the other kids, then Muir then Elthana... Not sure if any of the kdis are within 30' of Sam or not though.)
Seeing as how Elthana is right there and has (I think?) successfully stolen one of the ribbons from the kids, Sam attempts to steal it back from her!
Dex based Attack vs Elthana: 16 to hit.
Dex Attack 2nd Attack: 18....
If both attacks miss (and I suspect it does?) Sam uses his Inspiration that he's had sitting on his sheet for 50 years unused to try to grab it anyway!
Inspiration Attack (if needed): 10, which definitely misses...
Succeeding or not in grabbing the ribbon, Sam whistle for Ógra to get their butt up here and defend him! Ógra, being an obedient lion and a good friend (unlike these others trying to steal his flag!) tries again to change gravity and move to where Sam is... (Wis: Nat 1) The Lion roars and tell Sam to pound sand! Gravity is what Gravity is and the lion is having none of this nonsense!
Boris, on the other hand, is already up there (wherever there is) with Sam and takes the Shove Action against Gewyn, trying to push that trickster away! (Athletics 14, Gewyn must meet or exceed with Athletics or Acrobatics or be pushed prone... (Not sure, would that make them fall to normal ground?? lol))
(Annnnnnnd... I believe that does it for Sam. Though I have to go back and find how much he spent on what he bought cause I obviously forgot to deduct it from his gold...)
