Muir sees the bird swoop in and try to attack and deftly steps aside dodging and quickly casts summon beast....a rather large bird appears right behind the cockatrice.
Elthana's arrows blow in the strong winds but threatening to be caught and sail away, but before they do each of them find their mark on the cockatrice attempting to attack her, the beast is bloodied but survives for another round of attacks. Hector next to her reaches out with one hand to touch the beast attacking him bestowing a curse upon it, with the other hand he strikes out, his fingers forming a sharp clawed point once more he strikes and pierces the chest of the creature necrotic energy flowing through it from the wound it goes limp and falls by the wayside,
As the wound in Vin's side hardens and begins to petrify he fells his body constrict, making it difficult to strike out. Despite this disavdantage his eldritch blasts strike true both times and bloody the beast attacking him.
Over with Sam his first strike on the cockatrice does indeed restrain the creature, the firey shackles holding it in place as his next two attacks hit. It then begins falling away out of striking distance and he is forced to refocus his last two attacks on the second bird attacking his dragonborn, just to say bloodying the creature which would have successfully attacked had sam not been quick with his runework. The dragonborn himself pulls his longsword and uses two hands to make sure he has full control of the swing, he strikes out and sinks the sword into the creature, a dark radiant magic obliterating the beast into strips of flesh which blow away on the winds. there is a look of shock on the dragonborns face but not at his own actions, he looks to Sam and in giant asks, "giant magic, yes?" a broad smile crosses his face as he looks at sam and then down to the cockatrice falling away encased in firey shackles.
Muir's summoned bird pecks and claws at the cockatrice attacking him and successfully bloodies the creature, causing Eaos to laugh as he too brings out a longsword and with discipline strikes out toward the creature attacking muir, protecting the loxodon before himself. Eaos obliterates the beast and prepares to defend himself next.
As Gewyn not getting a response from Hector due to the high winds, summons a massive Fairydragon looking creature in the center of the group slightly above the entire party, it roars out the sound cutting the winds like a knife and demanding attention, in response every single cockatrice that is bloodied sees it and flies away in terror.
As the remaining cockatrice begin attacking once more, Sam feels his hold on the firey shackles dissapate as the cockatrice somewhere below him perishes.
The remaining cockatrice next to Gewyn bites at him as he finishes casting his spell, (9 to hit) but misses as the distraction of the realisation that it has been somewhat abandoned by the flock sets in.
Beside Eaos the cockatrice attempting to get through his armour doesn't suceed but the place at which it attacks does begin to crack. (17 to hit)
The one Cockatrice in the middle of the battle field dives toward the back of the party and swoops at Vin and Gewyn's Smeagle, but misses it entirely (6 to hit)
The shimmer of cockatrice flows around in a mesmerising pattern as it releases more beasts to attack, seven more cockatrice enter the field of battle closest to Elthana and Sam's Smeagles. The Smeagles themselves caw in fear as the fighting goes on around them, Vin and Gewyn's specifically as it was just attacked, but all Smeagles stay the course for now.
Amazed by the sight of what Gewyn conjured up, Elthana then turns to the next wave of cockatrices. As she draws back her long bow, she asks Hector, "What are these creatures coming from?"
She releases her arrows, but the air is about too much to deal with..
"My magic," Sam grumbles in Giant. "Passed down from Giants... Sure..."
Sam sees more of these birds flying in towards the group and looks at his handaxes with a frown. Quickly stowing them he draws instead his longbow and takes aim at the cockatrice most in front of himself. He's a bit slow on the drawing and shooting, he doesn't quite practice his bow as much as he does the more up close and personal weapons, but he still knows how to shoot...
He hopes.
First Longbow Attack: 17to hit for 9piercing damage Second Longbow Attack: 23to hit for 10damage
"Nice!", Vin shouts across to Gewyn, feeling elated as his friend inspires him and then creates the illusionary fairydragon to scare off the cockatrice that was attacking him. Of course then another cockatrice tries to attack the smeagle they are riding, which could be catastrophic.
He reaches forward and channels as much harm as he can muster into the new cockatrice.
Special: Bardic Inspiration from Gewyn - 1d8 - 10 minutes-ish Action: Cast Inflict Wounds Level 3 on cockatrice attacking his smeagle. To Hit: 16+8=24, Damage 8+8+5+2+1=24 [necrotic]
Muir quite pleased with his birds attacks looks at his friends to see if those birds are within firing range (30 feet) If they are, he hurls a tiny flame at the bird attacking Gewyn
Ducking the one next to him, Gewyn looks for the highest concentration of enemies in a 20 foot area and plays a sleepy melody, focusing his will at them.
Elthana suceeds striking into the breast of one of the newcoming Cockatrice but not enough to bring it low.
As Sam's dragonborn passenger gives him a nod of understanding, Both of Sam's arrows fly true bloodying a second of the incoming hostiles.
Vin's inflict wounds succeeds on the cockatrice attempting to attack his Smeagle, the hostile bird shrivelling and having to find a perch on the smeagles head as it begins to vomit its own blood.
Muir's summoned bird seems to have some sort of understanding of the prey it sees before it, expertly pecking and clawing at exactly the right weaks spots to tear asunder the cockatrice attacking Eaos, leaving nothing but falling viscera behind the path of the smeagles. Muir similarly succeeds in firing off his flame at the cockatrice attacking Gewyn, the thing is momentarily wreathed in flame and gives off an awful burnt feather smell in Gewyn's direction before the wind carries the smell away and leaves a crispy and angry Cockatrice facing off against the group's bard.
Gewyn turning his attention away from the hostile in his face, sees the cluster of new hostiles on their way toward Sam and Elthanas smeagles, his melody is lost to the winds but his arcane intention has one of the incoming Cockatrice falling out of the sky before it even properly arrives.
The Dragonborn riding along with Sam readies a longsword attack to hit the cockatrice heading toward Sam, the Half-Orc's arrows still sticking out of it. As it arrives it becomes no more at the swing of the dragonborn's blade (26 to hit, 12 damage) cockatrice slain.
Muir's Dragonborn Eaos, having no ranged attack skills sees nothing else within his melee range and instead mumbles a prayer in draconic, casting sheild of faith on Gewyn, (Gewyn's AC raised to 16! for up to 10 minutes)
Hector quickly casts ray of frost to the cockatrice Elthana just attacked and though the spell hits just right the damage is not enough to kill the creature, though it does slow (19 to hit, 8 cold dam) cockatrice bloodied. "must be a small landmass nearby!" He answers back to Elthana through the ripping winds
The cockatrice attacked by Elthana and Hector swoops in to attack Elthana(8 to hit, miss)
Another follows it beak snapping it drags a slice out of Hector's arm spilling blood down his sleeve (20 to hit, 2 dam, con save successful)
One more of the incoming hostiles attacks Sam, but its beak merely glances off his armour,(12 to hit, Miss) It is quickly followed by another which flies around Sam as he is occupied by the first. With a flanking advantage it snaps and draws blood at the joints in Sam's defenses. (21 to hit, 4 piercing dam, and DC 11 con save or be restrained and repeat save at end of next turn) The next incoming Cockatrice goes for Sam's dragonborn passenger, but glances off the half plate harmlessly (15 to hit, miss)
The crispy cockatrice that Gewyn was ignoring snaps at him but it's wounds cause it to falter (4 to hit, miss) And the vomiting and shrivelled Creature attacking Vin makes a half hearted attempt but ultimately focusses on holding on to the Smeagle and the blood trying to make it's way out of it's body (7 to hit, miss)
Notably every single new cockatrice seems unwilling to fly past Gewyn's illusory Fairy dragon, choosing instead to attack those in the front right of the battlefield, the last Cockatrice is no different but instead of attacking the group and passengers it dives for Elthana and Hector's Smeagle, it tears a line in the back of the Smeagle, Both heads screech out in pain as blood spills getting caught on the wind and stone like growth begin spreading around the Smeagle's body, Its wings go stiff and the Smeagle, along with Elthana and Hector, Begin to plummet! (15 to hit, 3 damage, Con save failed)
Vin sees the smeagle ahead of his begin to freeze, and knows exactly what has happened. He hopes it can recover as he did, because there is not a lot he can do to help right now, especially with his own smeagle also under attack.
He reaches towards the cockatrice he bloodied before, and once again fires a bolt of eldritch energy at it from point blank range, hoping to finish it off.
If that takes out the cockatrice, he will turn and take aim at the one next Gewyn, if not he will hit the same one again.
If he does manage to drop the cockatrice by himself, he will use the power of his Hunter's Coat on the one attacking Gewyn.
Special: Bardic Inspiration from Gewyn - 1d8 - 10 minutes-ish Action: Eldritch Blast x 2 - disadvantage for being in melee (for the first at least) Attack 1 - To Hit:(5, 12)+8=13, 7+5=12 [force] Attack 2 - To Hit:(19, 5)+8=13 (27 if against the second cockatrice), 1+5=6 [force] + 7 [necrotic] (Hunter's Coat - if against the second cockatrice)
Muir pleased with his bird, new friend Eaos, and himself instructs his bird to go help Elthana and Hector. The bird flies 60 feet and attacks the bird attacking Elthana.
Bird attack: 12 hit 13 dam Bird attack 2: 16 hit 12 dam
Muir then once again hurls a tiny flame at the cokatrice attacking Gewyn: 14 hit 4 dam
It's just a scratch, Sam thinks to himself. At least until he feels himself stiffening... And not in a good way. "Uh oh..."
With the birds in melee Sam quickly, as quick as the lumbering, hardening Half-Orc can anyway, stows the bow and once again draws his handaxes to chop at the necks of these jive turkeys. He finds himself a bit hesitant considering he doesn't want to miss and hit the bird that is keeping him up in the sky... But he may not have much time left anyway.
(Disadvantage on rolls due to restrained...)
First Handaxe Attack: (7or 5)+8 for 13to hit, 11 slashing damage Second Handaxe Attack: (6 or Nat 1)+8 for 14to hit, 7slashing damage... Using my Inspiration on this attack roll to negate disadvantage!! Bonus Action Handaxe Attack: (19or 12) +8 for 20to hit and 5 slashing damage...

End of turn Con Save vs DC 11: 19 (D'oh! I'm an idiot... First I am like Phew! Should have saved my inspo in case this Con save didn't work out... THEN realized I should have just used Inspo on my first Nat 1 Con Save... *sigh*. But I've typed too much to change it now so it is what it is.... lol)
Seeing their situation worsen by the second, she asks Hector if he can help their smeagle but he just answers in the negative with panic in his voice. Great, well first need to get rid of these things... she thinks.
She reaches out to hit the cockatrice next to her and just as she thinks she is going to go wide she hits the bird with 8 magical bludgeoning damage.
If that one goes down, she moves around Hector to continue her beating of the birds.
Attack: 13, Dam: 7
Attack: 24, Dam: 12
If there is a remaining cockatrice, she focuses her ki and brings on the flurry of blows making another hit.
Gewyn heart drops as he watches Elthana and Hector falling away.
Then he acts. No thinking, just feeling. He extends his awareness to the ripping currents of wind going by, drowning out the sounds around them. Find the tune. Find the song in the wind. It's not just sound. It's a music of its own.He then bites down hard on his pipes to keep them in place. Grabbing on to his ride tightly with one hand, he lunges and reaches out with the other to stab through the Cockatrice trying to bite him as it swoops past. Gewyn blows hard into the pipes in his teeth, trying to match the song of the wind in its harsh intensity.
Just as the wind may eddy and swirl, doubling back unexpectedly, giving, taking and twisting without warning, Gewyn weaves his power through the air twists strands of the music that is the wind. He tries to tangle the stark threads of the life of the cockatatrice attacking Sam with those of the falling Smeagle, taking from one and giving to the other.
[Attack: 26 to hit, 8 Magical Piercing Damage]
[Reaction: Silvery Barbs to give disadvantage to the Cockatrice and advantage to Elthana's Smeagle on its Con saving throw]
Vin's Eldritch blasts both fire out perfectly, the first obliterating the vomiting cockatrice and the second turned toward Gewyn's crispy friend, the crispy Hostile seems to be made of some tough stuff as it remains steadfast.
Muir's bird, swoops over and yet again finds exactly the right soft spot to rip the cockatrice atttacking Elthana to shreds, it then moves over infront of Hector and injures the one attacking him.
Muir himself succeds in flaming the crispy cockatrice attacking Gewyn once more, even despite the high winds, after another moment of burning smell this time toasting the creatures already sizzling skin, the cockatrice remains screamin at Gewyn.
Elthana turns her attention to the right and punches out at the cockatrice attacking Hector, it falls limp after her first two strikes and she leans over to thwack the last one, leaving it injured but not bloodied.
Gewyn weaves his magic tapping into something primordial, something arcane that is special to this plane alone, he subverts the potential of what could have happened and sucessfully prevents the cockatrice attacking Sam, not satisfied with twisting fate itself Gewyn then lunges forward and skewers the beast attacking him, its limp body falls off his blade and out of sight below.
Sam, watches the previous bird swoop to attack him, knowing that its aim is true and its strike will bring him not hing but annoyance and possible petrification, and then something takes hold, a new chance given. Likely filled with confusion Sam chooses not to start questioning things he doesnt understand, all of his hits succeed as he hacks and slashes at one of the three cockatrice around him but unfortunately only manages to bloody one.
Hector stabs twice at the remaining cockatrice, successfully hitting it twice for (17 dam) it is left bloodied but not dead. He shouts over the wind out to Elthana, "be ready to cut the sled!"
Sam's dragonborn passenger slices at the one cockatrice attacking him (21 dam) his longsword held firmly in two hands to avoid hitting either Sam or the smeagle. On his next swing his form is alot weaker as he slips forward, seriously fails his swing and slashes the back of Sam's hand (11 dam) he curses in a highly apologetic manner in the giant tongue.
Elthana's smeagle screeches out as it feels the petrification take hold, its cries come to a sudden stop as Elthana watches in horror as it bends one of its necks to look at her, just as she sees one of its beady pleading eyes turn completely to stone. It is petrified and plummets 200ft away from the group followed only by the cockatrice continuing to attack Hector from the petrified birds back.
Eaos, seeing no enemies in sight watches his master's transport plummet. Wit hquick thinking he takes a rope attatched to his smeagle and swandives off of it, inverting his gravity to be centered on the petrified smeagle but with only 50ft of rope he cannot reach. Instead he uses his weight to try coaxing his Smeagle to avert course toward his falling comrade (18 animal handling) "Muir! do what you can help make the beast follow!" he calls out in the only language he knows that the two of them share.
The sled attatched to the petrified bird lunges forward with the plummet, a dagger pierces the canopy of the sled from within and bursting out comes Griff, hefting the blade that Sam had sequestered away with him. His bonds and restraints are burnt from apparent lightning strike within the sled, he perceives the situation, looking first to the doomed beast his sled is attatched to and then to the group above quickly dissapearing from sight. He also grabs a rope holding the sled canopy down and he begins flying upwards attempting to slow the stone Smeagle's descent, (athletics 22!) he does well but is immediately surprised by the exertion he needs to slow the statue, his eyes meet Elthana's, "be getting on! I am not knowing how long I can hold this!".
The Cockatrice in melee with hector misses As do each and every one of the three cockatrice attacking Sam and his dragonborn passenger.
"#^@$!" Sam calls out as the Dragonborn slices him worse than the damn birds have managed and glares over at him for an instant trying to determine if they're the real threat if that was an accident...
"Can you steer this bird?" Sam calls out angrily in giant. "We need to go after them!" he calls out indicating the falling bird.
Not really paying much attention to the response, Sam continues swinging... Just at the cockatrices for now.
First Handaxe Attack: 17 to hit for 6 slashing damage Second Handaxe Attack: 17 to hit for 10 slashing damage Bonus Action Handaxe Attack: 24 to hit for 6 damage
"Nice", Vin calls across to Gewyn as the last of the cockatrices harrying them is dispatched. He then looks down to see the smeagle Elthana is riding turn fully to stone and plummet.
He reaches for his broomstick, but has second thoughts. With the headwind and the fact it is currently unreliable and could break at any time, he would likely only become another casualty needing rescuing.
Instead, he looks about for any remaining danger to the other smeagles and his other companions. Spotting some still over by Sam, he whips his hand out in that direction releases two bolts of eldritch energy at the cockatrices over there.
He then looks back to the sled their smeagle is pulling, just to make sure nothing has attacked Neferox.
Special: Bardic Inspiration from Gewyn - 1d8 - 9 minutes, 42 seconds remaining Action: Eldritch Blast x 2 - at the cockatrices next to Sam, on the same one unless the first blast downs it Attack 1 - To Hit: 12+8= 20, Damage: 5+5= 10 [force] Attack 2 - To Hit: 3+8= 11, Damage: 8+5= 13 [force]
Between Sam's axe swings and two eldritch blasts coming from left field, the two cockatrice flanking Sam are slain in a perfect 'set them up then knock them down' scenario each of the hostiles being hit by a blast, distracted and then carved into by sams blades.
Muir has some difficulty coaxing the Smeagle. He senses it's fear in the situation and it's desire to follow the pack away from danger and continue it's path homing toward the broken isle. Eaos' actions anchoring it to a downward path is slowly making it avert course toward Elthana and Hector, but Muir realises that this is only really panicking the two headed beast more.
The dragonborn with Sam forgoes attacking once more and instead grabs Sam's shoulder, expending a use of lay on hands to heal Sam up (20hp back)
Elthana looks around in wild desperation as their ride starts plummeting. She turns and is about to try and get Griff out of the sled when the aarakocra surprises her by bursting out of his cocoon. As Griff tries to pull them all upwards, Elthana sees they have seconds to spare. She jumps on the sled and looks back to Hector, "GET ON!"she shouts. And she readies her action to cut the sled from the sinking smeagle once Hector is on.

Muir sees the bird swoop in and try to attack and deftly steps aside dodging and quickly casts summon beast....a rather large bird appears right behind the cockatrice.
The bird attacks
Attack 1: 17 to hit 8 Damage
Attack 2: 17 to hit 11 Damage

Eaos obliterates the beast and prepares to defend himself next.

Gewyn heart drops as he watches Elthana and Hector falling away.
Then he acts. No thinking, just feeling. He extends his awareness to the ripping currents of wind going by, drowning out the sounds around them. Find the tune. Find the song in the wind. It's not just sound. It's a music of its own. He then bites down hard on his pipes to keep them in place.
The Cockatrice in melee with hector misses
As do each and every one of the three cockatrice attacking Sam and his dragonborn passenger.
First Handaxe Attack: 17 to hit for 6 slashing damage
Second Handaxe Attack: 17 to hit for 10 slashing damage
Bonus Action Handaxe Attack: 24 to hit for 6 damage
Muir nods and does what Eaos asks of him 11 animal handling
Special: Bardic Inspiration from Gewyn - 1d8 - 9 minutes, 42 seconds remaining
Action: Eldritch Blast x 2 - at the cockatrices next to Sam, on the same one unless the first blast downs it
Attack 1 - To Hit: 12+8= 20, Damage: 5+5= 10 [force]
Attack 2 - To Hit: 3+8= 11, Damage: 8+5= 13 [force]
She jumps on the sled and looks back to Hector, "GET ON!" she shouts. And she readies her action to cut the sled from the sinking smeagle once Hector is on.
