"What, you kidding? You saying a dead dragon can hold the line longer than all of us?" Sam scoffs back at Elthana with a grin. But yeah... he damn well wished that dragon would hurry up and get its spectral tail back here.
Muir steps forward and says "Everyone back, I must do this quickly before more come through the portal to give us a moments reprieve."With that he drops his concentration on the thorns, bangs his staff and points it towards the portal where a wall of thorns springs up out of the ground and surrounds the portal enclosing it in a giant prickly wall. Muir takes a breath and turns to the others "Alright quickly now who could use some healing?" Muir casts Healing Word on Elthana healing her for 6HPs. As Elthana feels the refreshing breeze heal up some of her wounds the glowing chalice floats from Muir above Elthana's head healing her of 12 more HPs for a total of 18.
ROUND 11
Upon hearing Geywn Muir casts healing word. As Muir does this one of the chalices is removed from Muir and appears over the top of Gewyn washing nature's healing over him for a total of 19HPs. "Alright folks get ready. I will stand back here and focus on keeping the wall up. It should slow them down enough, maybe more so than the spikes before. I am pretty spent but will do my best to keep you all alive."
Vin smiles as Neferox dispatches the last two who came through the portal, then looks around for more. As Neferox backs off to lick her wounds Vin swoops down on his broom.
"I have a healing potion if someone is in need. Well, in more need than Nef", Vin says, landing next to the large hound and checking her over.
He looks across as the wall of thorns replaces the spikes and takes a deep breath, the potion now in hand.
If no-one speaks up with a better claim to take the potion, Vin will indeed let Neferox take it, and then look to make it back to his position on overwatch.
Whatever happens Neferox will take up a position opposite Sam across the portal, a little way outside the thorns so she can't be reached from within them.
Gewyn dutifully runs over and ties off the other end of the rope as instructed and then runs over to retrieve his dagger. Next he moves over to retrieve the fallen iron bands. he drops it in the first attempt from his numb feeling, blood-slicked fingers. Looking to his shoulder, he realizes how bad his recent cut looks. He holds up his other hand. "I could use just a little bit of healing over here. Starting to feel light headed."He moves to take up position next to Vin
As the wall of thorns go up and people prepare for the next wave there is a warbling from the portal, four humanoid shapes form and make a few noises of disgruntlement before three of them begin to move through grunting and cursing in common before getting out the other side. Two of the humanoids are male, undead humans, one in simple breastplate with long black hair and armed with a mace and shield, the other a darker skinned man wearing halfplate armed with a meaty looking warhammer. the two male undead look down and easily step over the rope by their feet. The last form emerging through the wall of thorns is an undead tiefling who does not see the rope and completely faceplants, she appears to be unarmed and lad in leathers. The long haired man speaks up, "Greetings! I didn't expect this realm to be so spiky and unaccommodating..." he looks to the decimated corpses of zombies and the bones of the lifeless allips, "oh, it looks like our minions were less than accomodating in return... We are embassadors of Lord Nectyran. I am Halorin, this warhammer wielding brute is Jedar, and that is Mycete... Lestheris you can get through yes!?" As if in response to Halorin's question the fourth form behind the wall of thorns disappears, teleporting 60ft into the room and looking around at the group, an undead half elf woman with long blonde hair, no armour and no melee weapons to speak of, "they mean us harm" she hisses and clicks her fingers summoning 6 shades within a 30ft radius of her who face the group and stare you all down.
All stated round 11 readied actions go off! (unless you choose to refrain)

Sam moves to interpose himself between Serafina and these new undead, basically in front of Mycete and Jedar, besides Halorin...
Sam is worried about the numbers Lestheris has summoned but he figures the ones with names are likely the biggest dangers so he aims to try to take them out first. He'd like to make Lestharis his first target but she's a bit out of striking distance. Instead he targets Mycete first and focuses on her.
1st Maul Attack vs Mycete: 20 to hit for 25 magical bludgeoning damage... 2nd Maul Attack vs Mycete: 27 to hit for 24 magical bludgeoning damage... If this hits Sam uses his Crusher feat to shove Mycete back 5', hopefully back into the wall of thorns for more damage... And maybe tripping her up with the rope? 3rd Maul Attack: 12 to his for 20 magical bludgeoning damage... The first blow that hits also does an additional 2 damage due to Giant's Might.
Muir was about to open dialogue with the invaders but before he can Sam starts swinging. Muir was hoping to stall enough to let Lumithor fly back but that doesn't seem to be happening now. He moves beyond the Lumithors head and neck near the wall of thorns and lets out his thorn whip hoping to strike Halorin and yank him back into the thorns. (19 hit 8 dam)
Sam's first swing hot Mycete cracking some bones and causing her to scream, the yellow fungal growths that appear to cover her body give off necrotic spores which hang in the air. On Sam's second swing and concurrent swing after that, suddenly Mycete is no longer there. Halorin using his reaction switches places with her and grits his teeth at Sam as the axe sinks into the undead shoulder, "you'll regret that!" Then as soon as he is pushed into the thorn wall once more, Muir's thorn whip wraps round his neck and drags him around inside the spikes. He calls out to the shades in the area "Forward assault! Take the big guy down"
(Introducing villain actions! Groups of villans that you may face from here and in the future may have access to villain actions, similar to legendary reactions, though these are more limited, each group member brings one villain action which can be used only once per encounter, and only one villain action can be used per round. These can provoke after any enemies turn (any of your turns), but only if the specific villain who performs the villain action is present and not incapacitated)
At the call of, forward assault, the four left shades rush up to Sam without taking attacks of opportunity and strike at him. (14 to hit, miss. 8 to hit, miss. 20 to hit, 1 necrotic damage and hp max reduced by 1. 24 to hit CRIT, 2 necrotic damage and hp max reduced by 2) additionally as Sam, Serafina and Elthana are now within 5ft of the shades each must make a wis save at the start of their next turn (DC equal to 10+ the amount of shades within 5ft) or become frightened of the shades. (Sam DC14, Serafina DC12, Elthana DC11)
As the possibility of discussion quickly dissolves into battle, Elthana targets one of the shades between Serafina and herself. She does start worrying about the onslaught of shades on Sam though.

As Elthana steps forward and hits Halorin, she focuses her ki and stuns him as well. (All attacks against him are at adv till the end of Elthana's next round)
Vin moves to the edge of the top of the shrine to survey the scene below him, interested in the fact that these newcomers seemed to want to open a dialogue. Of course, until they summoned more shadowy creatures, causing Sam to kick things off less cordially.
He watches as the one Sam attacks disappears to be replaced by one of the others, making him think that she is more valuable, and so of course decides to target her. He also does not like the fact that the one who teleported in instantly summoned more creatures to attack them. She was also a target.
He sweeps his hand forward, releasing two blasts of eldritch force, one at each of the female interlopers. As he manifests the first blast, he concentrates on his training with Sam, and tries to use what he learned to push his target back 10 feet into the thorns.
If it works he lets out a little whelp of joy and surprise, "See that Sam, see that? Boom! Nailed it!"
Either way he then steps back into cover once more.
Neferox sees one battered into the thorns by Sam, then dragged through them towards him, with Elthana tagging him on the way. She moves over and snaps at him a couple of times trying to finish him off.

Vin's eldritch blast catches and pushes Mycete back into the thorns (49 dam total, mycete is heavily bloodied and visibly hanging on by a thread), his secondary blast strikes at Lestheris but it simply draws her attention to him and Griff.
Both of Neferox's bites fail to pierce through the thorns to take down Halorin.
Gewyn gets a little closer to the group, stopping beside Lumothors skull and offering assistance to those within his vicinity.
Serafina fails her Wisdom save (9) even with gewyn's assistance, she moves away from the fighting and pulls out a bow, hands shaking she attempts to fire upon the shade to the southeast of Sam, (14 to hit 10 piercing) she fells one shade and takes a moment, hands on her knees she attempts to bring herself out of her fright.
Griff scoffs at serafina's actions and pulls out his own bow, he too aiming at lestheris his whispers a word in auran and the tip of his arrow crackles and glows, letting loose a bolt of lightning which strikes down on the lone undead halfelf, (Crit 26 to hit, 40 Lightning damage) as the strike lands the lightning shoots out in a 10ft radius from where the woman stood, but she is no longer there, (reaction Ethereal step teleport up to 60ft) instead appearing closer to lumithors bones and Serafina.
Halorin, is stunned, (he automatically fails his dex save for ending his turn in the thorns and takes 40 damage) his body goes limp but does not fall as the thorns piercing his flesh hold up his lifeless form in a macabre pose reminiscent of a discarded puppet.
Mycete screams out seeing her fellow undead succumb to his wounds, she moves back out of the wall of thorns, back toward the portal and begins chanting a spell imbuing five of the previously fallen zombies with necrotic energy. The freshly risen, again, zombies take in the spores left in the air buy Mycete and fungal growths begin to form all over their bodies swelling them to deformed masses, one between Elthana and Sam, and another between Gewyn and Neferox bursts spores clouding within a 5ft radius of each zombie (Sam, Elthana,Neferox,Gewyn make a DC13 Con save or take 15 necrotic damage, 7 on a save) the reamining three zombies then attack neferox (24 to hit , 3 bludgeoning)
Jedar takes a step round sam (AoO if sam still has reaction, at disadvantage because of frightened condition) Once out of the reach of Sam he points his warhammer up at Griff who just struck Lesteris a devastating blow and from the end of his weighty warhammer an inky void of necrotic energy shoots out, (9 to hit) the necrotic energy dashes against the shrine to The Raven Queen which discolours in reaction to the undead magic.
Lestheris, now closer to Lumithor's bones takes out a book and points toward Gewyn and his incessant counter charm, she curls her hands and destroys a shade near her, gathering up its energy she throws a necrotic lance at the bard, and without hesitating does it once more destroying the second shade near her. (19 to hit, 14 necrotic damage. 24 to hit, 14 necrotic damage. if Gewyn goes down she will throw the second lance toward Serafina)
The thrill of taking one of the embassadors down is fleeting. The zombies rising around her and now full of disgusting spores... she coughs as she gets a lung full and has a brief moment of remembering her state before and looks down at her limbs. Seeing they are all normal and not affected she makes a quick decision and the folds of the Raven Queen surround her like a shadow blanket.
And she disappears from where she stands, reappearing right next to Lestheris. She goes to pummel the woman for attacking their bard.

Using another ki point, she attempts to stun the woman. CON save of 15.
Con Save vs Spores: Nat 20 for 26 - Just 7 dam taken
AoO vs Jedar: Maul Attack: Crit! Nat 20 for 30 to hit and 50+ magical bludgeoning ((grrr! Forgot rolling at Dis...)) Make that 17 to hit for 23 Magical Bludgeoning damage. AND if 17 hits Sam will use the Crusher feat to move Jedar 5' back towards (hopefully into) the Wall of Thorns so hopefully he takes more damage and loses enough movement to slow him down.

On Sam's turn...
Sam coughs and sputters and chokes on undead zombie spores. It is not a taste he ever wanted in his mouth and the smell is akin to wet Neferox! The necrotic ick of it takes a bite out of Sam. Not a huge bite but Sam is running out of bites to be taken... As such, as much as Sam wants to take down the main players here he just doesn't feel up to opening himself up to free attacks. With a shout of frustration, Sam swings out at the surrounding minions targeting first the Shades and then the Zombies...
((Targeting the most dangerous he is in melee first, not knowing when one drops so he can move on to the next I'll leave specific targets up to DM...))
First Maul Attack: Nat 1or 14 Second Maul Attack: 4 or 12 for 14to hit and 29magical bludgeoning damage plus an additional 5 from Giant's Might Third Maul Attack: 2 of 17 for 12 to hit and 22magical bludgeoning damage...
((I'm assuming Sam didn't free himself of being in melee with enemies so he stays where he is, not wanting to take AoOs...))
Popping back up and seeing Sam on his last legs, Vin decides to try and clear the half-orc's immediate vicinity by sending a couple of bolts of eldritch energy at the creatures surrounding him, picking of the shadow-like ones first. Fresh from the euphoria of pushes the lady back into the thorns, he tries once again to push his target, to no avail though. He ducks back from edge once more.
Neferox meanwhile inhales the spores and starts to gag, thrashing wildly at the zombies who are attacking her as she suffers far more from the spores than the zombies themselves. If she manages to clear a path, she will move away from the portal and the cloud of death and decay.

Muir hides behind Lumithor's bones a bit and watches the horrors unfold before him. He notices the witch towards the back pierce Gewyn. Muir tries to react by calling upon the cosmos to distract the undead but fails (-1 from an attack roll).He sees all the shades and zombies appear near Sam....He quickly heals Sam for 19HPS
Muir throws a guiding bolt towards the witch who pierced Gewyn (16 hit, 11 damage advantage on whoever attacks her next)

Vin's eldritch blast catches and pushes Mycete back into the thorns (49 dam total, mycete is heavily bloodied and visibly hanging on by a thread), his secondary blast strikes at Lestheris but it simply draws her attention to him and Griff.
Both of Neferox's bites fail to pierce through the thorns to take down Halorin.
Gewyn gets a little closer to the group, stopping beside Lumothors skull and offering assistance to those within his vicinity.
Serafina fails her Wisdom save (9) even with gewyn's assistance, she moves away from the fighting and pulls out a bow, hands shaking she attempts to fire upon the shade to the southeast of Sam, (14 to hit 10 piercing) she fells one shade and takes a moment, hands on her knees she attempts to bring herself out of her fright.
Griff scoffs at serafina's actions and pulls out his own bow, he too aiming at lestheris his whispers a word in auran and the tip of his arrow crackles and glows, letting loose a bolt of lightning which strikes down on the lone undead halfelf, (Crit 26 to hit, 40 Lightning damage) as the strike lands the lightning shoots out in a 10ft radius from where the woman stood, but she is no longer there, (reaction Ethereal step teleport up to 60ft) instead appearing closer to lumithors bones and Serafina.
Halorin, is stunned, (he automatically fails his dex save for ending his turn in the thorns and takes 40 damage) his body goes limp but does not fall as the thorns piercing his flesh hold up his lifeless form in a macabre pose reminiscent of a discarded puppet.
Mycete screams out seeing her fellow undead succumb to his wounds, she moves back out of the wall of thorns, back toward the portal and begins chanting a spell imbuing five of the previously fallen zombies with necrotic energy. The freshly risen, again, zombies take in the spores left in the air buy Mycete and fungal growths begin to form all over their bodies swelling them to deformed masses, one between Elthana and Sam, and another between Gewyn and Neferox bursts spores clouding within a 5ft radius of each zombie (Sam, Elthana,Neferox,Gewyn make a DC13 Con save or take 15 necrotic damage, 7 on a save) the reamining three zombies then attack neferox (24 to hit , 3 bludgeoning)
Jedar takes a step round sam (AoO if sam still has reaction, at disadvantage because of frightened condition) Once out of the reach of Sam he points his warhammer up at Griff who just struck Lesteris a devastating blow and from the end of his weighty warhammer an inky void of necrotic energy shoots out, (9 to hit) the necrotic energy dashes against the shrine to The Raven Queen which discolours in reaction to the undead magic.
Lestheris, now closer to Lumithor's bones takes out a book and points toward Gewyn and his incessant counter charm, she curls her hands and destroys a shade near her, gathering up its energy she throws a necrotic lance at the bard, and without hesitating does it once more destroying the second shade near her. (19 to hit, 14 necrotic damage. 24 to hit, 14 necrotic damage. if Gewyn goes down she will throw the second lance toward Serafina)

Everyone is up!
The thrill of taking one of the embassadors down is fleeting. The zombies rising around her and now full of disgusting spores... she coughs as she gets a lung full and has a brief moment of remembering her state before and looks down at her limbs. Seeing they are all normal and not affected she makes a quick decision and the folds of the Raven Queen surround her like a shadow blanket.
And she disappears from where she stands, reappearing right next to Lestheris. She goes to pummel the woman for attacking their bard.

Crit! Nat 20 for 30 to hit and 50+ magical bludgeoning((grrr! Forgot rolling at Dis...)) Make that 17 to hit for 23 Magical Bludgeoning damage. AND if 17 hits Sam will use the Crusher feat to move Jedar 5' back towards (hopefully into) the Wall of Thorns so hopefully he takes more damage and loses enough movement to slow him down.---
On Sam's turn...
Sam coughs and sputters and chokes on undead zombie spores. It is not a taste he ever wanted in his mouth and the smell is akin to wet Neferox! The necrotic ick of it takes a bite out of Sam. Not a huge bite but Sam is running out of bites to be taken... As such, as much as Sam wants to take down the main players here he just doesn't feel up to opening himself up to free attacks. With a shout of frustration, Sam swings out at the surrounding minions targeting first the Shades and then the Zombies...

Popping back up and seeing Sam on his last legs, Vin decides to try and clear the half-orc's immediate vicinity by sending a couple of bolts of eldritch energy at the creatures surrounding him, picking of the shadow-like ones first. Fresh from the euphoria of pushes the lady back into the thorns, he tries once again to push his target, to no avail though. He ducks back from edge once more.
Neferox meanwhile inhales the spores and starts to gag, thrashing wildly at the zombies who are attacking her as she suffers far more from the spores than the zombies themselves. If she manages to clear a path, she will move away from the portal and the cloud of death and decay.

Muir hides behind Lumithor's bones a bit and watches the horrors unfold before him. He notices the witch towards the back pierce Gewyn. Muir tries to react by calling upon the cosmos to distract the undead but fails (-1 from an attack roll).He sees all the shades and zombies appear near Sam....He quickly heals Sam for 19HPS
Muir throws a guiding bolt towards the witch who pierced Gewyn (16 hit, 11 damage advantage on whoever attacks her next)
