Before Sam leaves the room, Elthana grabs hold of his hand and gives it a little squeeze before letting go.
She finds Khoso's speach creates more questions in her head than answering them, but seeing as they are willing to give them what they need, she doesn't ask. As by the sound of things, they will be here for awhile and she'll have time to ask then. As Serafina looks directly at her, she averts her eyes, as the strength of them and who Serafina is and what she herself represents, Elthana is surprised she isn't being asked to wait outside.
Impressed with the persuasion of her friends, she huddles with them as they move towards the door.
"expect a test, I will be around if you need anything else, and I truly wish you luck on your journey" Khoso remarks as the group gets up to follow Serafina, at this point Sam peels off from the group following the mist giant to the east wing, where the rest of the group follow Serafina to the west wing and up the stairs. "Come, I have maps... We can discuss your expectations and plan further."
Serafina's room is obviously furnished for two, and has an actual bed in it, thought the frame is made from the same thing the land is, a straw stuffed mattress is somewhat of an uncommon sight here.
She brings you all over to a table and brings out a rubbery scroll depicting the shattered isle, with several towns and settlements noted upon it. "Lumithor's bones are interred within a cavern at the center of the shattering, it is located next to the gate, so that his soul can continue his task, the question is the approach... the cavern is the only piece of land in tact around the center MD the remnant energies from the shattering make elemental forces strong there, we will have to pass through an energy field of sorts if we approach from above. Alternatively we could approach from below, this would take more time but would be safer as long as you can all control your gravities and stay together."
Having a task laid out in front of her, Elthana finds her voice again. "Time is seriously of the essense. What do you mean by an energy force? Do you know how it will affect us?"
She keeps looking back to see if Sam is going to join them soon...
"the effect is quite painful but only if it gets you, how are you at dodging lightning?" Serafina asks in a very matter of fact way. She then unclasps her gauntlet and pulls off her glove, showing the group a nasty looking scar that forks up her arm from the palm of her hand, the red a striking contrast against her otherwise alabaster skin.
"That looks nasty. I'd like to avoid that, but then we have the issue of the gravity. I am not the best at controlling mine", Vin admits. "Do you not have any birds that we can use to make the journey, just to be on the safe side?", he asks.
"Although I do have my broom, if the rest of you are comfortable with the gravity control", he says looking around, before his eyes land on Neferox and something passes between them.
Vin startles slightly as Griff's talon touches his shoulder, as he was distracted by Neferox.
"Well, it seems you and Neferox both prefer the option of entering from below", he says to Griff with a smile. "And seeing as I trust you both with my life, who am I to vote against you".
He then looks to the others to see what they might prefer.
Muir thinks for a moment....Does he dodge lightning or take the chance with gravity and plummeting to an eternal death by falling...."I will volunteer for the gravity part of the trip. I am not the most nimble and dodging lightning seems out of my capabilities."
Gewyn looks thoughtful. "Neither option seems great. Time is important, true, but I haven't had a proper rest in ages, and hardly feel my fastest. I am, however, confident in my ability to fall precisely where I mean to. Now if I had my way, I would sing a song and through the power of friendship everything would work out. But I'm not particularly used to getting my way. So we will go with either plan b or plan c. My vote is for plan c."
Serafina sighs, and draws people's attention to the lower parts of the broken isle, a plethora of hundreds of small islands all circling the sphere containing the cave. "If you want to one in from below here is where to do it. Like I said, you'll circumvent the point of impact and have to navigate through using whatever means you can to hop from one splinter to the other many many times, apart from it being slow and strenuous, the winds will be an issue for you, this being one of the lowest points you'll be buffeted upwards, not too much of an issue because the rest of the isle will be above you and so you have lots of chance to land somewhere, but you may also be thrown up through the lightning field...
If you would like to split up and attempt both paths at once I can ask Ömertyr to guide one of the groups, he cannot take lasting damage from the lightning so likely the top way in..."
"If you think splitting up would only help our chances, I would like to try and come in from the top, I am much better at dodging than inverting my gravity to this plane. I would imagine Sam would feel the same way? He's hated the gravity switch since arriving. Speaking of Sam.. do you think he'll be long?" Elthana looks back towards the way Sam went.
"The path below sounds like it will take a lot longer. What about the path above? Is it significantly quicker? Are we talking about dodging one bolt of lightning or a period of time when we could be subjected to many?", Vin asks, not entirely convinced.
"And would the path be suitable for Neferox here?", he adds, motioning towards the hound.
Wandering in with Ömertyr behind him Sam calls out "Path? We heading out? Good, sooner the better as time is ticking away quickly back home..." The mention of Neferox that Sam heard as he walked in caused Sam to unconsciously pat the bag tied to his belt. Then pat it again with more actual thought... It was full again. Sam couldn't help but smile a moment at that.
"Um, it is quicker back home, right?" Sam asks, looking to Muir for confirmation. "We must rush rush rush to save home?"
"slower in your realm" hector interjects before Serafina can properly answer vin's question. "Time here moves faster at a rate of roughly four times, so a day back home is around four days here, speaking of which I'm about ready to hit the hay, fighting you guys and then travelling for a full day has me wrecked. Oh crap I need to dismiss Kudd and Eaos" with that Hector gives a glance and a smiling nod to Elthana, before he leaves the room and wanders off down the stairs, out of sight.
Serafina clears her throat and addresses vin, "the lightning field itself is remnant energy from the blast that killed Lumithor, it lingers because it is Vox Tontritor's magic, the very essence of this realms creation... Ömertyr here can tell you more about that." She gestures on over to the blue giant crouching in the doorway who looks puzzled and says something bact to her in auran. "Ah, he doesn't speak your tongue I forget..." Serafina continues, quickly moving on from her blunder, "in any case it it unpredictable and it is constantly striking out with many forks of lightning all at once."
Muir muses to himself but loud enough for the group to hear if they were paying attention to him "Too bad we couldn't speak to Vox Tronitor to end this madness"
"But if more days pass back home, then time moves faster there...?" Sam says, mostly to himself, trying to keep it right in his head. "So if Sergor said we have less than a day then he was talking 6 hours here... We should do whatever we're doing. And it sounds like the slower we go through the lightning field (Lightning field??) the less chance of getting struck. So let's go!?!"
Muir rubs his temples having to explain this again and takes a deep breath. He steps forward with a smile on his face, puttin on his best performance (19). "Sergor said 1 day, which means we have 4 days here to get the stone back to him. To be safe let us say 3, to ease your minds. Sergor would speak of his time because he is a self centered egomaniac. So we have 3 days left here in this realm's time to get him a stone to prevent the catastrophe of his making."
"three days is more than enough to get to Lumithor's bones, provided none of you die, however we shouldn't linger too long..." Serafina says in a serious tone, "with that in mind you need to decide.
Do we stick as a group and pick one approach
or do we split ourselves in two groups and double the risk, but also double the chances of at least some of us making it there in time?" She looks around the group meeting each persons eyes and lingering slightly on Elthana more than anyone else.
Muir looks at the others "I will do my best to nimbly dodge the lightning. Perhaps shifting into something smaller with the same speed as I have will allow me to dodge the lightning easier....Let me think about what animal that would be"
