Calwin, Thornton and Lu make thier back toward the caravan at a steady clip (anyone else is welcome to join if they would stop thier other activities). For convince let's say you intercept the caravan just before it crests the hill that would look down on tree line and forest. The Friendlies and Gunnar's Gang have rejoined Gehir. As they see you and the injured women approach Gunnar and Sarai draw thier weapons and rush forward, "My God's are you all ok? Who is this she looks terrible. No offense my lady." Thornton scowls but doesn't say anything.
Sarai let's out high pitch whistle, three consecutive blasts. The Friendlies snap into action drawing thier weapons and fanning out creating a perimeter. The remainder of Gunnar's gang close in on the wagon looking for danger.
Those of you digging and mending make steady progress. You think if you combine your efforts and work through the night you could make the wagon functional again but it is no small task.

When Sallah brings it up, Calwin suggests that the company buy the foodstuffs from Thornton to add to Shorty's larder, if she'd be amenable to it. He'll also seek out the halfling cook to see if he has an interest in trying to prepare some sort of lizard based dish. Where would you all like to make camp? It is getting dark. For simplicity, your options:
1. At the woods edge where the lizard carcass and wagon are. If you camp there you would have the food stuff and the lizard for a meal. Plenty of time to do whatever you want with the carcass etc. Downside, creepy forest...
2. The top of the hill gives an excellent view of the surrounding area. No real chance of being ambushed with a watch. You'd have to butcher and carry stuff from the edge of the woods. Not a big deal but will take some time.
3. The other side of the hill. Gives you the best protection if something comes out of the woods it is not going to see you but you won't see what happens on the other side either. It would be strenuous to carry things from woods edge to the camp site.

(I think with your disk it would be trivial to carry the carcass to the top of the hill along with food stuffs. If that is what everyone wants to do I'll move you along then.)
As a group you finish your post-battle chores. Shorty loses his halfling mind when he sees the fresh meat, "MY MY MY, its a bit burned and the cuts might ruin some of the steaks but I bet we could eat for a month off this meat! Well if we had a way to keep it cold... Hey can you freeze it like you did while we walked?" He eagerly starts butchering the meat. He works with a surprising agility. He starts a fire and begins grilling the meat after seasoning it with a course salt and some other concoction of herbs.
As he works the rest of the company finishes survey the perimeter, eventually Gunnar returns. "Your story is rather incredible but I see no sign any more beasts. If it has grievously injured as you claim it may have retreated to the forest to lick it's wounds or perhaps it died. Either way I don't think it will bother us again this evening."
Gehir was also very interested in your report and the beast your brought back, "This creature is like nothing I have ever seen. I suspect the rift is already open, this monster is almost certainly a beast that has entered our world from some strange plane."He looks almost excited at the prospect and you sense an eagerness in his voice.
Shorty will eventually serve you a wonderful steak dinner. He made another salad and gives it to Gehir who seems a bit confused but smiles and eats it.
Sarai speaks up as everyone is finishing their meals, "We should stand guard carefully this evening. I suggest three guards one from each of our groups and we should get through the night safely."
What is your watch order for the night? You all may roll perception for your watch with advantage given the high ground.

There isn't really a single entry point. You are basically on the grassy noll that is an elevated clearing above the tree line. You are maybe 30 feet above the top of trees and I think I said a half mile from the tree line. You could certainly cast alarm in area that would to the east of the camp but this is a very open camp. I'll let you do the math on how big of a box you'd like to create. I suppose you could use your watch to do it. Alternatively you could do a long line facing the forest... suddenly the possibilities are endless.)
Jonathan -- Shorty seems very keen on the idea of jerky. "Maybe we can put it on the roof of the wagon while we are traveling? Make a mobile jerky wagon as we go! what do you think?"
"No sign of horse from where we looked though we didn't head into the forest. Perhaps we could track it with some light tomorrow but I fear it may be long gone, or dead by then." Gunnar does not seem to concerned with the horse or it's condition as he paces the camp and gets ready for dinner.
Regarding Chult you would know it exists and that large lizard like creatures are rumored to exist there. If there are like the one you encountered you would not know.
Calwin takes first watch and is joined by Absalom and Jehanne from the Friendlies. You all stare out over the forest as darkness sets in. The night is rather cold and chill and very dark without the stars. Absalom hums a song you have never heard. It's cheerful and breaks the silences of the evening. Jehanne spends her time polishing her armor she seems annoyed with Absalom's music but does say anything. She concentrates a bit too much on her cleaning and you wonder if she watching for danger at all.
As the watch wears on a deep mist starts settling into the valley just outside of the forest. The mist seems to pour itself out of the forest and engulf the ground below. It becomes so think you feel as if you are on a beach looking out to a sea of mist. The remainder of the first watch is uneventful.
The second watch is occupied by Mr Quayle, Captain Uri and Vitya. The good captain lectures his son on a number of military lessons but the main topic tonight is the fall of Bhaerynden to the Drow. He's lesson is reaching a climax when all of a sudden his stool is kicked out from underneath him. You hear him let out a squeal and drop to the ground in a heap. You see Whiskers the Kobold cackling in laughter at his prank. The dwarf reaches for his ax but after a deep breath and alot of muttering about the pranks of kobolds returns to his lesson. Despite the noise no one else in the camp stirs (unless you want to).
The mist thins a bit in the valley.
The third watch is Agar's. He is joined by the mostly sober Cathbad and Max the Tiefling. Predictably Cathbad is drinking from the moment the watch starts. Taking a break only to complain about the wine and not ale. This watch seems unexciting but then Agar notices a humanoid shape about 400 meters from the forest edge. It is walking slowly, almost stumbling toward your camp. It appears to be alone but from your vantage point you can not see anything more.
