Tuuli paces herself, making conversation with all the newcomers, Pax, Zartan, and Aranor. She's curious about their travels so far, about where they live in the Citadel, and obviously invites Aranor and Pax to stop by the Catford Cask, when they return. She'll tell them a little about herself, child of very straitlaced parents (Vedalken, if they know of them), clearly someone down the family tree has an interesting story about an air elemental because here she is, finding her way, or maybe she's finally found her way at the Cask and with these friends (again, sweeping to include the newcomers).

As the party makes their way through the desert, Walt brings out the envelope that Rufina gave him. He shows it to the party and grins with a childlike wonder.
“What do you think is in here?”
He shakes and squeezes it gently trying to guess what it might be. Walt opens it slowly and peeks inside before showing the group what it is.
(Ooc: DM what is it?!?)

Concluding the ring to be of an arcane nature, Zartan performs his ritual. The ring turns out to be a Ring of Jumping, which requires attunement. Using it (as a bonus action), one's jump distance is tripled. (Typically, without ring: running long jump – a number of feet up to your Strength score. Running high jump – a number of feet equal to 3 + your Strength modifier)
Using the directions and landmarks you were given by Paloma and her associates, Zartan leads the party through the high desert. Other than a bit of sunburn and the brief sighting of a large, horned bird of prey circling a distant peak, the journey is uneventful. You arrive at your destination: the abandoned mining town known as "Hollow".
A decrepit town spreads out along the road ahead, its weathered shacks creaking in the wind. A dozen or so armed figures move in and out of the structures, which appear long abandoned. An opulent coach, looking distinctly out of place, is parked amid the buildings with its curtains drawn.
Tuuli swings her crossbow around, fitting a bolt to the string. “I wonder who they are,” she says. A little breeze builds around her, and with a swirl of dust and a soft pop, Lucky appears in front of her.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Pax doesn't sunburn, but sand does get into his joints, grinding down to a fine powder and sifting across his stone torso making it look like he is bleeding dust. It doesn't seem to bother him though and as he walks with the others he shares many of the facts that he knows of the area having been a long time amabassador of peace in the Citadel. He points out a cacti as a genus greenus spikiness and the horned bird circling above as hornius squawkiness.
As they approach the town, Pax is wise enough to hang back a little lest his grinding joints give away their approach should the group want to approach stealthily. "Friend or foe, I wonder? We should not judge on the presence of arms," he whispers indicating the Aranor's sword and Tuuli's crossbow. "Perhaps they too are here to defeat the fiend."
Nature check to see if Pax has correctly identified the bird and cactus: 4
Zartan conducts the identify ritual on the ring and determines it to be a ring of jumping. Upon hearing this, Walt’s eyes light up in joy and fascination and giggles like a little boy “Oh my! Ain’t this grand?”
Walt spends some time meditating and focusing on the ring as he attunes to it. He owns his eyes, smiles and giggles some more. “It’s done! Let’s test it out!”
Walt takes off his handy haversack, shield and sets down his spear. He digs in his feet and runs at full speed, activates the ring and performs a grand running long jump that even impresses Zartan.

Now, at Hollow, she kneels to make her profile a bit smaller, and observes the people down in the town.
How far away are we? Do they give any indication that they have seen us?

Zartan will also be hiding to observe them. He's looking for any fiends or the like, numbers, fighters or mages, he starts to draw up a map of the location so as to plan.
Aranor gladly accepts the goodberry from Walt and tucks it carefully into his pack. He nods at Walt.
The moon elf studies the villagers as they head out of the village, some apparently already sick with this plague. He hopes they will find answers at this Hollow place.
As they travel, Aranor tells Tuuli he has heard of the Catford Cask and promises to check it out when they all return. He has lived in the Radiant Citadel for most of his life. Apparently, his parents had been born in another land, but had fled some sort of disaster and ended up at the Citadel.
Aranor watches Walt try out the Ring of Jumping with some amusement. "Very impressive!" he notes. "I am sure the ring will be very helpful to us."
As they reach the mining town, Aranor stares at the opulent coach in surprise. Someone else is already here, but who? His hand strays to the pommel of his sword.
"You're right, Pax," he says to the big warforged. "They may be friendly, but we should prepare ourselves in case they aren't."
Pax has no idea of the identities of the local flora and fauna, but the cactus is clearly green and spiky, and the bird is indeed horned and undoubtedly squawky. (The word "peryton" does drift into his head for a moment, although he's not sure what that means.)
Now, however, the party finds itself perhaps two hundred feet from this gang of armed soldiers. They don't appear to have spotted you yet, although they likely will soon, unless you choose to remain hidden.
Everyone make a (group) Stealth check to remain hidden, if that's what you choose to do.
Dusty treeless hills rise to your left – the foothills of a chain of low mountains to the west and north. Two dozen or so old wooden shacks and buildings appear to have long been abandoned. On the left you see a short winding path leading to a pair of old wooden double doors surrounded by crumbling stone pillars – the entrance to the mine. A dozen or so rough-looking humans are carrying a variety of items out of the buildings into the road. They wear leather armor, and carry light crossbows and a variety of small blades.
Walt, perhaps distracted by the desolate yet beautiful landscape, spots the armed people a bit later than the rest of the party. He drops down and hugs the ground to the best of his abilities trying to keep a low profile.
