"No, I don't remember seeing a house like that," says Aranor, "but I wasn't really looking at the time. Too busy being captured unfortunately." He says this last part with a rueful smile.
He has been standing next to Tuuli while the others search the drawers and examine the drawing. When it seems like everyone is finished, he moves to take the lead again. "Shall we continue down this path?" He moves to head down the path that slopes further downward.
The party clambers down the steep, spiraling path.
It opens up into a sizable cavern, with a ceiling thirty feet high, and strange symbols scrawled across its walls. The skeletons of two huge creatures are here, one embedded in the east wall and the other coiled around an altar covered in filthy feathers.
A platform – the bottom of the elevator shaft, it looks like, is fixed in the center of the chamber. A level tunnel exits west.
Walt steps into the cavern and looks around, taking in his surroundings. He raises up his hand, still sporting the conjured flame he cast earlier, to illuminate the walls. He watches as Tuuli and Lucky begin searching about the room. He looks up at the ceiling making sure nothing is perched up high and ready to swoop down. He then focus on the walls. The skeletons catch his attention for a bit and then he focuses on to the scrawled symbols on the wall.
DM: Do the symbols look as if they were painted or etched into the walls?
Pax moves up to the skeleton curled around the table and checks if it has claws, wondering if this might be the creature that scratched the wall in the previous chamber.
The symbols across the walls were scrawled with paint, Walt determines, although he cannot read this language. (Although Walt is welcome to make an Intelligence (Arcana or Religion) check to see if he can sort out anything from context.)
Pax examines the skeletons, and determines they have more - and larger - claws than what scratches the walls of the chamber above.
Lucky sniffs the tunnel exit. A very subtle breeze flows from that darkness, carrying a faint scent of smoke.
But when Tuuli approaches the altar, all chaos breaks loose. Cracking out the stone itself with fragments of stone flying in all directions, the two skeletons animate and attack. Roll initiative!
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Bendrak charges at the northern skeleton, shouting a hearty Rally at Tuuli as he brings his axe around to chop this beastly thing apart. (add 7 temp HP)
Quick on his heels and stepping through his comrades, Bendrak engages the northernmost dinosaur skeleton (#1), while shouting words of reassurance to Tuuli to bolster her resolve (and granting her 8 temporary hit points.)
He makes a solid hit on the animated bone pile, smashing one massive leg. But it continues to attack.
