Aino CON Save: 16 (rolled on character sheet, visible in campaign log... had to adjust bonus to +4 since that is her CON save bonus - bladesong just gives her an extra +5, so +9, but only for CON Saves to maintain concentration on a spell, which this is not).
Aino is briefly disoriented by the fog but steadies herself, but is able to regain her orientation an instant later.
In post 230, the griffon attacked Aino and did not move away this time. So is it still 5' from Aino flying down with her?
If so, is the fog so bad that Aino can't even see the griffon right next to her? If so, then she and Thumbtack both take the dodge action so attacks against have disadvantage. But if she can see the griffon, she might do something different (not sure).
Aino thinks well, once you enter something thought of as the Total Party Kill Arena, it's far too late to play it timid. If I die, I die.
Thumbtack takes the help action, pooping in the griffon's face before flying back to Aino's shoulder, and Aino attempts to attack through the fog with her Rapier, +1 and Booming Blade, trying to time her thrust when she catches a glimpse of the beast.
Action: Aino attacks the griffon with Rapier, +1 and Booming Blade - straight attack (advantage and disadvantage cancel): To hit: 13 Damage: 13 (max) magical piercing damage Additional thunder damage on movement: 2
Bonus Action: Aino moves her Flaming Sphere out and back behind the griffon slamming it into the monstrosity: DC 15 DEX Save for griffon On failure: 2 (ugh, absolute min for 2d6) fire damage On success (half): 1 fire damage
Aino's attack hits and the Griffen fails 15 total damage. The Griffen will bite Aino then disengage taking 2 damage and disappearing in the cloud.
Attack: nat 20. (Need to check these new dice to see if they are weighted)
Damage 20
Does the Griffon have blindsight or truesight? Otherwise, the attack would be at disadvantage due to the fog, right? You telling me they rolled a double nat. 20 at disadvantage after getting a nat. 20 last round? Okay.
In any case, if it IS a nat. 20, Aino casts Silvery Barbs as a reaction to force a re-roll and also give one of her surviving party-members advantage. But first, could you confirm that you actually rolled a double nat. 20 at disadvantage, assuming the griffon has disadvantage like Aino did.
I also want to reiterate. Griffons, like many monsters, get multi-attack. That means they can attack twice when using their action to attack. What they CANNOT do is attack once AND disengage. That would be two separate actions and griffons can't do that on their turn. Nor can practically any monster or PC other than legendary actions or things like fighter Action Surge or Haste. Rogues, Monks (with Ki) and goblins can also disengage as a bonus action so they can take their full action and still disengage. But very few other creatures (or PCs) can.
I wasn't sure on the changeling, because I didn't know what it was (doppelganger?), but I know it for griffons (or any other normal monster). You can't just replace one of the attacks in multi-attack with a disengage. As an aside, doppelgangers can't do it either.
(Good knowledge of the game Tybard! I might have some frequently debated topics to run by you. There’s a 1 in 400 chance of two natural 20’s back to back, but a 1 in 8000 chance for 3 in a row, if I remember stats right. Glad Aino has silvery barbs).

Don't even have to remember stats! 20 squared is 400. 20 cubed (or 400 * 20) is 8,000. Guessing you knew all this of course, not trying to (wo)mansplain. And right before those 2-3 nat. 20s was another high roll, also against Aino to get a modified 21.
We'll see on Silvery Barbs, if Aino does have to cast it. It's a last ditch effort - just forces a re-roll (and also gives advantage to an ally on their next d20 roll). Since the griffon already rolled high, then 2 or 3 nat. 20s in row, maybe it will do it again.
DM: Every monster you have fought so far has been home brewed to some extent. The Griffen had advantage on all attacks once you killed both of the Eagles. So in the cloud I rolled straight. Instead of multi attack I gave it 2 actions so it could do more of a hit and run style of fighting to make it a bit more challenging aspect after the eagles where killed and you took its health down past 50%. Please feel free to challenge me I'm no master off the rules but for the most part I've built there rounds to be a bit unfair. And I'm promise I'm not picking on Aino she has just been dealing the mist damage so she has the highest threat score in how I'm selecting who attacks what.
Please let me know if that's not ok with yall willing to work with everyone this has been fun so far and I don't want to end before some of the other baddies I've dreamed up take a Crack at ya.
=========≈back to the fight===========
So the Nat 20 stands. Re-rolling makes the attack 19 which is a miss.
I gotcha @DM. Ok, marking off the spell-slot for Silvery Barbs which forced the griffon to re-roll the attack. 19 misses, so Aino is still up on her feet - jagged silvery light shoots from Aino's hand as the killing blow comes in, distracting enough to make the griffon miss and giving an opening to an ally.
Aino has now used 3/4 1st level slots and 1/2 2nd level slots.
Silvery Barbs also lets Aino grant advantage to an ally she can see. She grants it to Kileprat (assuming she can see her, otherwise choosing herself).
@Nontyper, Kileprat has advantage on her next d20, whether it is an attack roll, ability/skill check or saving throw in the next minute.
"Kill the damn birdie, big mama" Aino growls through her bleeding mouth, hunched over in pain, still dancing around due to bladesong.
@Nontyper it will be a flat roll the advantage from Aino is canceled out from the disadvantage from the cloud. The Griffen has also moved back into the cloud to hide itself. Give me a perception check DC12 to be able to attack it.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Since Casey did not pass the con save. End of the round.
The party falls through the bottom of the cloud. The arena is starting to come into view. The Griffen is circling around the party (just flavor) at about 15ft. There are 2 blocks of Air left and the stage effect is 1
**DM: After this round we will take a break leaving on a family trip this weekend. Also I live in Florida so if I go dark before the end of the round it's cause I'm dealing with this hurricane shouldn't happen though we been on a good pase and yall are rocking this fight**

She steadies herself as they enter the clouds, prepared for anything.
