OOC: Nemean's sheet has been updated to reflect the short rest.
Recovered from battle, you exit the room and step through large caverns on your way north, passing through the ghoul cavern and back into the room with the dry channel and large bellows. An exit to the east brings you through a short corridor and into the most massive corridor yet. The occasional boom echoes even louder here, now clearly coming from further north.
Dozens of skeletons--many crushed under fallen debris--are scattered across the floor. The cave large enough that it contains an entire freestanding structure. The stone building is proportioned for human use, as opposed to the dwarf-sized doorways and furnishings you've seen elsewhere in the mines. The structure has battered and blackened masonry walls, both its double doors and a third door too the north cracked and scorched. The cavern is divided into an escarpment, into which a flight of stairs has been cut, descending to a lower floor. Another set of stairs descends out of this cavern to the north.
With the doors closed, Thulgrim feels it is safe enough to take a peek down the stairs to the north. Mostly he is curious about the booming sound, but also aware that it might mask the presence of creatures hiding in those caverns.

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
Finna stopped at the entrance to the cave: "You know, if we get out of this, I will never go anywhere without a gallon or two of holy water. Or better yet without someone with a holy power to send undead away. I suspect now every old bone on the ground to spring to life and attack!"
If Thulgrim's curiosity did not provoke skeletons on the floor to attack, she will join him and try to open the small door (the north one) while they are both there.
On the way to the steps, Finna approaches the northern door to the structure. The door is scorched and cracked, and its iron hinges are partially melted, preventing the door from being opened easily.
Thulgrim leads the way down the steps to the north and discovers the source of the mine's distinctive booming. A narrow ledge overlooks a large cavern that houses a surging, seething body of water. The rhythmic booming is loudest here; at regular intervals of around two minutes, a fresh surge of water funnels into this chamber and slams against the wall just below the ledge, covering the party in spray and raising the water level by ten feet for almost a minute before settling back to fifteen feet below the ledge. The boom echoes into the distance, suggesting that this cave might be one arm of a much larger cavern to the northeast.
"You think the forge is here, near the water? Should we go up? Doors look jammed but I am still not sure it is good idea to leave them behind unchecked." Finna truly had no idea how forges are operated and whether or not they require some water source.
Nay lass, the forge would nae be here by the water. I ken that stream we passed up where we found Nundro should be flowin' past the water wheel tha' drives the smelter an' down into this 'ere cavern. Yer prob'ly right an' we should nae leave them doors be'ind us, but ... I jus' wanna take a quick look ...
A dwarf in a mine - they just can't resist. Thulgrim walks in just far enough to confirm his suspicions that the channel empties into here before returning to Finna and the others to investigate the doors.

A quick walk through the adjoining corridor shows Thulgrim's suspicions to be correct. This booming cavern connects to the dry channel that cuts through the room with the waterwheel and bellows, where the party fought a flameskull and its legion of undead. The ledge also wraps around the room toward the north.
Back at the northern door to the structure in the large cavern, Nemean tries as hard as he can to move the door from its hinges, but it remains stuck firmly in place.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: The cracks aren't big enough for anything to fit through, it's just a sign of the door's age more than anything else.
I'm assuming for the moment, because Thulgrim was able to open the door, that Finna doesn't want to split up from the party to reach the double doors, but let me know if that is in fact the case and I'll resolve it next.
Thulgrim STR (Advantage-Help): 15
Together, Nemean and Thulgrim slowly drag the door open. It creaks loudly as the melted iron hinges warp to allow passage.
Beyond the doorway is a small room, but whatever it once held has been completely destroyed. Rotted bits of wood and debris are all that remain. Another door is closed across the room.
Nemean's tail twitched with nervous excitement as he watched Finna open the doors. His mind reeled at the possible ancient horrors and wonders that could still be hidden behind these doors. He grips his scimitars and breathes deep as she reaches for the handle.

Finna has no trouble with this door, which opens into a large workshop that was also badly damaged by the ancient battle that has left remnants throughout the rest of the mine. Worktables taking up two corners of the room are scorched, and the plaster has been burned off the masonry walls. In the miiddle of the room, a stone pedestal holds a small brazier in which an eerie green flame dances and crackles. The brazier and its pedestal appear to have been untouched by the forces that destroyed this area.
Behind the brazier of green flame floats a spherical creature measuring roughly four feet in diameter. Four eyestalks protrude from its central mass, two on each side. In the center of the body is a large eye that stares at you as you enter.
A thick, burbling voice speaks into your minds. "Hello."
"Hello..." says Nemean nervously. He softens his stance a bit, and unsure of what to say to the creature, after a few awkward moments of silence he speaks out "How are you today?"
