"Well, I'm not going to let you have all the fun," says Hotspur, moving beside Valor. "You'll need a black rook like me if you're going to checkmate the White Queen."
“Mother Clay has made it safe to Lady Angela and the baby, sir. I will join you, if it pleases you. I fear no white queen of the woods.”Thatch speaks up from his spot by the door, shaking the rain off of his cloak, and intent on joining Sir Valor on his mission.

Tana quickly checks over the baby as well, tucking some stray wet hair behind her ears.

At Sir Valor's announcement, she glances over and stands straight.
"I would like to join you as well," she nods in his direction, "it feels as though there is something more serious at play here, even the creatures are more... volatile. Seems important to delve deeper into this situation."
Valor remembered the vow he had taken as a knight, and his father's orders to him, and nodded in determination. He turned and considered his companions. "I will not order any to follow me. If any wish to stay here with the Lady, I will not judge. But any who join me I will consider my friends and companions ever after. For those who choose to stay, if we do not return by morning, escort the Lady back to my father, and he will see justice done to Le Cloche." He turns back and knelt before his cousin, taking her hands in his own, "My Lady cousin, I swear on my oath as a knight, and my father's name, that if by my life or death I can save your husband and your daughter, it will be done. I will find Sir Olvar and join him in stopping this White Queen. No more innocent lives will she have, if it be in my power to stop it. I ask only your blessing, and I will be off."
Lady Angela smiles weakly in response, “It gives me hope to see you here. I have never been in such sore need of help. My husband is gone, and I fear I will never see him again, and at daybreak, this terrible curse may steal my child from me as well!” Her voice cracks, and her eyes fill with tears again. “I thank you cousin that you would freely do this terrible thing I must ask of you."

Tana can find nothing physically wrong with the infant it is almost as if the childs spirit is fading...being siphoned off elsewhere through some means...
Gayble heads to her hearth and fetches a number of crusty black loaves filled with butter and vegetables. She passes one to each of those who have offered their services.
Morseth reports his findings to Sir Dayne "This in not a normal malady Sir Dayne and it is baffling to what is the cause. Of course I will follow since I am of no use here"
As soon as Valor made his vow, Argyle stepped aside from the main group. The bondsman quickly unsheathed, rubbed, and re-sheathed each of his blades in turn, using an oiled cloth. Anyone watching would have known he was clearly intending to leave with Valor, despite not having spoken.
"Well, now that Mother Clay has arrived safely, does anyone else have any final businesses here before we head off and deal with this threat?"Adds Mizzen as he adjusts himself to accommodate his aching legs in the rain. "I don't want to be left hanging either. Whoever that White Lady is, if she is a real issue here, this needs to be resolved asap."
Yessenia elects to stay back in the cottage, rather overwhelmed at the thought of combating spirits and armed men.
Gayble goes to the door and points the way that Sir Olvar went, following the direction she points you scan the forested hills overlooking the town. To the east, perhaps two miles away, you can make out a glow amid the trees. There is something there, the colour of old bone.
You cross the bridge over the raging water and head north out of the village. Ahead, the road turns east and plunges beneath the forest’s black eaves. Marking the edge is an ancient stone wall with a ramshackle gatehouse built into it. An old man stands in the porch with a lantern. A raven is perched on his shoulder.
"Good even, warden of the forest!" says the bard, brightly. "Does your gate keep men out of the forest, or keep creatures in?"
"Good Eve an'all, to you sirree."
" Most often neither nor and of late none at all have been barred."
" Names Porthawr, me an' Gristbitten here have guarded the ‘Eaves Gate’ for many years."
" Within the last hours a grim-looking group has passed through this way wit'out a word. I didnae reckon nought o' them, there were 'tween one hand and two of 'em.”
"Passed through, you say... in which direction? Into the forest? And none of them were locals, they were all unknown to you?"
Hotspur looks at Valor. "Strange things afoot, Coz. We must haste to save Olvar and the babe, but there may be more perils than the White Lady in the forest tonight."

"' Aye, innit woods. Nay, an I keen a mess o'faces."
As Hotspur converses with Porthawr, Tana glances around him to make eye contact with the raven perched on the warden's shoulder.
'Good evening feathered-one, would you perhaps be able to grant me insight on the beyond territories?' Her voice reaches out through a telepathic connection to the raven. 'We're seeking any information on mystical happenings, mayhaps related to the White Lady?'

(Mind Link, the raven can respond)
The raven cocks its head and let out a gurgling croak as it fixed Tana with one eye.
" Insight? I am thought and memory....you seek news of the white house and its mistress. I've seen her walking in the woods with her retinue from a great distance.....death is her companion and sorrow her balm. I've seen the small spirits gathered long ago and now again she gathers one."
" But it is not only the newborns she gathers to her side."
" The men that passed here earlier, came from the manor...I do not know their purpose."
Morseth lets Hotspur do the talking. Perhaps I can find some medicinal herbs in the forest. Although I wonder who are these Grim fellows and I wonder if they have anything to do with the white lady. I guess only one way to find out.

"We can take them!" replied Argyle suddenly and flatly. He then quickly blinked and looked around, as if surprised at his own reflexive response. He had decided to ignore any further taunting from Hotspur, but the idea that there was some threat to be suppressed in the forest apparently brought out his protective instincts.
Immediately continuing--as if he'd meant to start conversation--he carried on, glancing toward Valor. "I suppose we should head in, then? If there are more threats, that means we'll have to waste more time before we reach the White Lady." He then turned to the others. "Everyone prepared?"
Morseth moves to the baby and examines her to see if he notices anything.

The child seems relatively healthy in terms of disease or injury but she is cool and he breath is shallow....the symptoms do not make a lot of sense.

Standing near the door, Teryl looks to the woods through the sheets of rain.
"Syr Valor, I am with you. If it is a witch, the very forest may be bent by her magic. It is a crime against nature."
