Famh moves forward with the group with feet that have gone nearly noiseless. While much damper than her hative Thulish moors, she feels a strange sense of familiarirt at the swirling mist and looming vegetation ... strangely round and thin compared to the heather that could completely hide a lurking wolf -- or a girl. She sweeps her gaze from side to side of the path the group is following as she calls back memories of the bogs she had to cross first thing when she left home.

Nature 16
Famh is able to assist the others with staying on course and continuing to move in the same direction, as the group moves through the dark reeds they occasionally come across stark white bones projecting from the still water.....this is not a place where nature holds sway....
Moving on they are still amongst the reeds, when Cainneach and Thatch find a tiny patch of dried brown blood on the tip of a rib projecting from the mud....
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Cainneach hisses to his comrades while pointing out the tell-tale bloody mark. "They say that the tax man cometh, and it looks we're still on the right track." He then turns to Thatch and quips, "We're lucky the fellow was filled with so much blood, else I doubt that he'd make it this far or that we'd be able to track him further!"
Inwardly, Cainneach is relieved to see that so many of his companions share his sentiment regarding the Old Gods. Dru had told him a bit about the True Faith in Albion and he wasn't sure how his "outdated" views might be received. He then mutters a quick thanks to Morkaan for at least sparing them from the mosquitoes and biting flies that typically occupy these environs, takes a quick look to see how Tana and Famh are faring, and resumes his search for the tax man's blood.
Almeric's indoctrination into the Code of the Knight Capellar does allow him to empathise with those who do not agree with him. Mostly, he politely ignores them, but the indignance, disappointment and concern showed by the others has certainly impacted on their morale, at the worst time. Shrugging his shoulders, Almeric places both relics in his pouch. Maybe he could donate one relic to a near by abbey, in return for a reward or patronage? Now he must try to win them back.
Straying from the path seems madness in this evil place, but everyone else seems determined to do to, so Almeric with stride forward with Ori into the mist, sword and shield ready. Responding to Fergus and others opining, "This place reeks of evil, and the abomination of undead! How long can Harold survive for in this?"
Fergus struggles through the water using his staff not only as a support but checking beneath the water for hostile creatures or more likely the tax man’s body. It looked less and less likely the man could have survived out here alone bleeding out. Best to find him either way if they wanted to find any clues on the sword’s location.
The group continues on struggling through the reeds, Almeric and Cainneach believe they have found a path onwards in the same direction but after a few minutes everyone is a little less sure of their location......moving forwards with little other option you suddenly stumble out of the reeds onto a white stone path stretching left and right, the leftward path splitting in two a short distance away.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ori tries to tell if this path looks similar to the one they left (trying to decide if he got turned around in the fog). He shakes the water out of his shoes as he walks down the path to sew if the path splitting looks like the split wear they entered the reeds.
Cainneach is happy to be out of the wetter portion of this mire, at least momentarily, although his gear is well-suited to their current environs. He is less pleased, however, to note the branching paths. They avoided having to make a decision at the earlier junction, instead plowing directly ahead, but the similarity to the previous and the additional branch off the left path was concerning. Like the rest of his companions, who are intently observing the area, Cainneach will carefully examine the ground to see whether he can pick up the tax man's bloody trail or if they're just running in circles.
Almeric trudges through the boggy grass, relieved to be back on firm ground.
"I suggest we stay on the pathway. We know there is is evil here with undead creatures and we cannot afford to be separated or lost. Now, which way next? Any ideas Cairnnach?"
As they pause, Almeric puts his hand in his pouch and holds the relic of St. Ambrosius, mouthing a silent prayer.

"There's water over there!", Fanh calls to the others, pointing towards the familiar coolness she scented."Smells like the wet earth of a riverbank at night. Just the place for kelpies and water horses, and all the other water bogles to boot." Her face wrinkles into a frown, concentrating. "I'm sure the old stories mentioned at least a few weaknesses of the creatures. Now what were they again ... ?

"I'm pretty certain that if we wish to stay on the path we were following, we need to continue to the left. This place is nearly a maze in plain sight, though, so we need to work together to stay oriented."
Cainneach then grins broadly at Famh's mention of the fairy tale creatures straight out of the tales of his youth. Of course, with what he's seen and the things Famh somehow knows, she could be right ...

Thatch follows along, alternating looking for signs of the blood trail on the ground and any signs of threats in the thick fog around them. He just mutters as Cainneach points out another drop of blood “I just hope there is some blood left in him when we find him.” As they break out of the reeds onto another path, suspiciously similar to the first path, he looks around for any additional sign of blood on the white rocks. “I will follow your lead, Cainneach, you have a better sense of direction than I, but we will have to trip over the taxman to find him in this fog.” Perception: 5.

Thatch finds no further signs here, as Cainneach begins to lead the group along the path.
The path is slightly meandering and you travel quite some distance, on occasion some of you spy the iron fence on your left beyond the black reeds.
Eventually the path begins to turn to the right, the fence ends at a river just beyond the reeds and you begin to follow the river bank instead, the path then splits in two ahead...
A foul stench reaches your nostrils. A few metres further on, you discover its source—the mists part to reveal a slime-covered stagnant pond. In the middle of the pond you can see a small island where trees grow in twisted forms and trail their roots in the mucky water. Suddenly a flight of huge bats pour from the gnarled branches and soar towards you like phantoms through the mist.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Watch out!", Famh calls, pointing at the bats. She quickly drives the butt of her improvised staff/spear into the muddy ground so it stands upright next to her where she can easily grab it at need. Then she draws her sling out of the pouch at her right hip and loads the first bullet, ready to receive the bats. "They might just be coming to find out who we are, but better drive them back anyway in case they're hungrier than that ... "

Cainneach is momentarily taken aback by the sudden swarm of bats, so intent was he on studying the trail and having become complacent during their safe travels thus far. While these bats were large and this dell a dark place, he holds out hope that they might behave like normal bats, which is to say, unlikely to see a group of humanoids as a potential meal. Nevertheless, Cainneach will draw his bow and nock an arrow, in case his optimism is misplaced. He'll instinctively move near Famh to provide protection, although she seemed well-prepared with her sling.
