(OOC: Yes. To all of you who have lived for a while in Vallaki, that is the Lady Fiona Wachter. She is known as a sort-of rich, former noble who does not like the Baron. She has two sons, who are thought of as wastrels. There are also rumors about her being a devil-worshipper)
- I hope you can excuse me. But I am not from around here and this is my very first night in Vallaki, so I do not really know that much. Though, I can assure you, I have seen just enough. But excuse my manners, my name is Bran - he bows - Thank you, lady ... Wachter...? - he asks, unsure, after hearing her house's name - We will relay your invitation. A question: will that dinner be very formal? As you can see, we are - and he looks down at his own clothes - just "common" people.
Lenn curses his clumsiness and let out a sigh of relief when Chara heals the boy and the last of the wolves fall. He comes closer to Lucian, worried about him but then Bran calls him to go to speak with the Stengel woman that was staring at them. He hesitates not sure if that’s the proper time to introduce themselves to anyone, if such a moment comes at all taking in account they were trying to keep a low profile. But after that display that is gone. Sering that Lucian is ok and that both women are tending to him, he exchanges a glance with the tiefling and Lenn follows the bard, hoping he doesn’t get themselves in more trouble.
He arrives at rara drop distance at mid sentence but he grasps the concept. He says nothing yet waiting for Bran’s response
...The woman whose son was (briefly killed) looks at Charawith awe. Head bowed, she says, "You...you must be an angel! Thank you! I'll light a candle to you at St. Andral's!" ...
Eithne nudges Chara smiling: "Once again, the appearance of your body could not hide that of your soul".
Then the savage stranger warns Lenn and Bran: "We're going back; you know, it was hard for Lucian... finish talking at your leisure; you know where to find us". The last of the dusk elf maidens stares for a while at the woman the two are talking to and it takes him a while to recognize her, because more than in Vallaki she had inhabited the wild nature around the town ... but in the end she remembers. Lady Fiona Wachter. Former noble who does not like the Baron. And who is said to be a devil-worshipper. Eithne nods to her, wondering what she might want from them — but she doesn't feel invited to the conversation, so she sticks to her original purpose and escorts Lucian back to the tavern. There's Juhowly, too, there, waiting — she doesn't want to leave her alone too long.
Without second thoughts or hesitations, she turns and leaves.
Lady Wachter smiles, but not with her eyes. "Oh, how silly of me. I am Lady Fiona Wachter. Of course, especially as you are travelling, I expect you wouldn't have formal attire. I find that these days it is simply impossible to maintain standards. You are welcome to come as you are. Your bravery and fast action are exemplary and rare; I would love to know more about you. Please do say you'll come."
Everyone else:
The Martikovs join you as you leave the square. Urwinsays, sotto voice, "That man is a menace. He is going to get us all killed. Thank you for intervening, especially you, our dark angel!" He introduces you to his family as you walk, his wife, Danika, and his two boys, Brom and Bray. "I had worried about sending you out on this task, but you obviously can handle yourselves. Although, you" he looks at Lucian "seemed unwell at the end of the fight. Do you need anything to calm your nerves?"
Chara blushes at all the praise she's been getting.
"I just did what had to be done," Chara says, her wings fluttering slightly as she looks around at a complete loss for what to say or do now. "My... my master didn't gift me his power to just stand back and watch people die without even trying to help..."

"You too were very quick to spring into action" observes Eithne, appearing alongside Urwin "and the weapon you used is certainly not an innkeeper's tool... it is a martial weapon, not an improvised one; but not only you possessed it (and had the foresight to carry it with you) - you also used it with confidence and efficiency. It is clear (at least to me now) that you are no ordinary civilian. I won't ask you for more, if you don't want to tell us (everyone has the right to the secrets they want to keep), but I would definitely say you 'can handle yourself' too, Urwin".
Recognizing the tall woman made Lucian all the more eager to leave. As he leads Chara along he says hesitantly, “Um…you saw that lady watching us right? …well, I’m not sure it’s anything to worry about but…”He hesitates, “She used to be a noble… from what I know she doesn’t like the baron, but… uh… rumors say she worships devils…”His face goes red as he says the last part, and he focuses on getting to the inn.
When Urwin starts thanking them Lucian can’t help but feel guilty. He hadn’t managed to help at all, instead he’d just caused a scene. When Urwin addresses him, he gives a start before stammering, “Oh… Uh… N…no I’m okay. Really…” he diverts his eyes, realizing that the innkeeper probably thought he was having a panic attack or something. “It…isn’t nerves… I’m sorry I wasn’t more useful, I promise I can do better than that.”He was well aware that those words meant next to nothing when his actions said otherwise, but he wasn’t about to tell this stranger what really happened. However… Bran and Cole have a right to know. They’ve both signed on, so it was only fair that they should understand the risk. Hopefully he can muster the courage to say something when next he gets a chance.
- I do promise we will try. As you may imagine, we can only speak for ourselves, and not for the rest of our companions. We are but...how to put it...two gears in a mechanism. I am sure you will understand that all gears must work together for the greater good of the system running perfectly, yes? - Bran says with a smile - We will extend your invitation to the rest and will do our very best to attend. Wachterhaus, in three days time. Now, if you will excuse us, we need to be going.
Bran bows again and waits for Lady Wachter acknowledging look. Then he will look at Lenn and turn to leave.

Chara blushes when Eithne mentions the mother's comment, and then sighs when Lucian tells her that the strange woman who was watching them from a distance was possibly a devil worshiper.
"That definitely sounds like my luck," Chara says with a nervous little laugh. "I hope I didn't just start a cult..."
At the inn, Chara is mostly just going to stay near Lucian until everyone is done talking. Then she'll take a hot bath and relax for a while before she crawls into bed. She's had more than enough excitement for one day...

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
Right after leaving lady Watcher Bran sees Gunnar and smiles, happy to see him in one piece. He approaches the young boy and says:
- Gunnar, right? I'm sorry you had to experience all that. None of it was your fault. The fault lies within the hands of the stupid adults that allowed everything to happen. Here, let me show you something. Can you extend your hand, please?
When Gunnar does it, the bard puts his own hand above the kid's, at a fist distance. He mutters a few words and then a burst of ligth goes down from the bard's hand to Gunnar's. Now the kid has something bright on his hand. It's not very detailed but it has the shape of a bird. A bird made of light.
- Unfortunately, this will only last for a few moments - The bard smiles and then says - but anyway ... brighter days will come, Gunnar. Take care, little one.
Bran casts Prestidigitation. I think this description can match any of the last two bullets.
After this, Bran falls silent for a while, inevitably thinking of Cassandra. Was she all right? How long had it been since Bran had last embraced his child? It felt like an eternity. Would she be thinking of her father...?
Lenn just nods to the noble woman and follows Bran, somehow impatiently as he dies la with the boy. Once they are alone he says in his usual low voice
“ I don’t like that woman, no.. I do not think I could trust her. I think that we should not mingle in local politics, but you did well. Hate to pass on an invitation like that issued more like an order.. we will see what the rest has to say about this. Let’s hurry and join them at the tavern”
- Yeah.... The conversation started well, but all of a sudden I started feeling uncomfortable. I guess it happened when she wanted the both of us to confirm the assistance of all. But also, there was something about her expression ... I don't know...- the bard rubs his neck, showing his discomfort - But yes, as you say, let's see what the rest thinks. And perhaps we'll need to inform Urwin, too? He may want to know that woman has an interest on us.
He pauses for a moment before adding:
- Thank you for saying that I did well. I really appreciate it. Specially coming from you, that do not prodigate that much with your voice! - Bran laughs a little and then continues more seriously - I guess I'm still looking for my place in this group. Like ... I know I can do a few things, but still feel insecure in all of them? Does that make sense? Anyway, I probably just need more time to get used.
"Probably the toymaker could give us a better insight about what to do with this woman."Lenn listen to Bran's concerns and says " You are doing well don't worry we all are trying to find our place after all."
Bran agrees to both of Lenn's statements and the pair of them soon reach the Blue Water Inn. After entering and greeting the companions and the Martikovs Bran disappears for a short moment, as there's something he wants to do before any other conversation may happen.
He returns to the room where the group stored their belongings, and the bard crouches in front of his backpack to retrieve the necklace with the locket pendant and his wedding ring. In this not so comfortable position he stares at them for a few seconds, thinking of what to do with ring. Finally, he makes the decission to not display it anymore and instead put it in the necklace along with the locket pendant, tying it around his neck again and carefully hiding them in his clothes.
He does this mainly to protect that which represents the vows he made and the ones he loves the most. But also keeps in mind that it could benefit their mission not to display the ring. At least, to avoid unwanted questions from prying eyes.
Afterwards, Bran rejoins the group in the main room of the inn.
You return to the inn and discover everything is peaceful and still. It is, perhaps, the first place you've felt comfortable in the past several days. Urwinand Dannikaprepare beet soup with pork and sour cream and crusty black rye bread. Wine flows. The boys are taken to bed and Dannikareturns. With a look to Urwin, things become more somber and serious. "As you know, I need your help," Urwinsays, "We haven't received our shipment of wine for the past two weeks nor have we heard anything from our supplier. I need someone to go check on them and make sure the old id...my supplier hasn't gotten himself into trouble. I wish I could go myself, but my duties here prevent me from leaving. If you take the old Svalich Road toward Kreszk, you'll come to a crossroads just before the bridge over the Raven river. Turn to the south and you'll soon come to the winery; It is called" he sighs "The Wizard of Wines."
Cole:
You know of the winery. When you grew up with the Druids on Yester Hill, it was a close neighbor. Your family hated it, as did the other druids, seeing it as an affont to the land to have orderly agriculture when the land should be chaotic and unpredictable. They were always scheming to find a way to destroy it.
Chara:
After the meeting, when you are drifting off to sleep, you have...a vision?...a dream? In it, your patron, an unbelievably beautiful angel greets you in a pristine and well-kept garden. "Chara," he says, "I was so pleased today when you used my power to save that child. Did you not see how they looked to you as an emissary of the divine? You have done very well indeed. At the same time, you have made a bargain with a devil.THIS SHOWS POOR JUDGMENT!You may believe that that imp has your interests at heart, but he would drive a wedge between you and me. Do not trust him; evil, such as his, only begets more evil."
“I’m familiar with the place, as well as the proprietor’s *ahem* “personal management abilities.” Shouldn’t be much of a problem, provided we get a bottle or two out of it.”
One of the first things Bran does when returning to the common room is ask about Chara, as she's not around. The bard turns to Lucian to ask:
- Is she all right? Just tired, I hope? She did a magnificent job today and I think I caught a glimpse of that poor boy's mother thanking her. I swear that for the little time I've known her, I'm sure glad that she is getting the recognition she deserves. By the way - and here he looks a little bit more concerned - are you feeling better, Lucian?
He talks a little bit with the young dusk elf, but when Bran sees the Martikovs bringing dinner he stands up to help them.
- I'm sorry but I won't take a no for an answer! - he smiles at both Urwin and Dannika when they try to not let the bard help them.
For a moment, this scene feels like being home, the bard thinks. At his home in Kreszk with...
With that fleeting thought, Bran's bright smile turns to a sadder one. He tries to distract his mind by paying attention to Urwin when he speaks about the mission. He even laughs a little as soon as Urwin mentions the name of the winery. Then he asks:
- Urwin, I have to ask something. How far is the winery from Kreszk? That's where I lived before I ...well...before I came to be involved in all of this. And I need to go there and check on my family. It would probably be better to do that after checking on your supplier, but whatever information you can provide will help us decide. I also wonder if you happen to receive any kind of news from Kreszk? Like, has something unusual happened lately or...maybe there are no news?
"And no news is good news, right?", he thinks.
- We should also discuss about this Lady Wachter and the fact that she's taken an interest on us and wants us to visit her in three days time - he looks at Urwin at this point - Do you think we even have a chance to be back in three days? - then, turning to the rest of the group - Please, before anyone says anything: Lenn and I haven't made any promises to her. Only that we would relay her invitation to all of you and "try" visiting her. But, we need to think this thoroughly. Going there may have consequences. And I guess not going could have them, too.
He pauses for a moment:
- In any case, I agree with what Lenn suggested: we must let Blinsky know of this woman. I wonder, Urwin, if we could leave this specific point in your hands? This way, we could leave Vallaki and be on our way to the winery in the morning.
When Cole mentions getting a couple of bottles out of the mission the bard shows half a smile and says:
(OOC: Yes. To all of you who have lived for a while in Vallaki, that is the Lady Fiona Wachter. She is known as a sort-of rich, former noble who does not like the Baron. She has two sons, who are thought of as wastrels. There are also rumors about her being a devil-worshipper)
