The rock smiles and babbles something in a gravelly dialect that you can assume is some sort of elemental language. Two smaller boulders, one on either side of the large one, begin to move. The humanoid face on the rock assumes a quizzical expression by narrowing one eye and scrunching its lips.
"Hey, there, Rocky," one of the smaller boulders seems to say despite it having no mouth with which to speak.
"Hey, there, Rocky," the other boulder repeats.
The large rock stands on two sturdy legs and waves its right arm at each of the smaller stones. "Hello," it says. It then turns to you with a big grin and its arms behind its back.
“Hey Prim! Orion!” Taxidea calls. “You guys need to wake up and see this!”

"Huh? Wha...", Prim says, then notices the rock family. She rubs her eyes for clarity before making an Arcana check to see what they are. (nat 20, 25 total, rolled on cha sheet)
"Hello. I'm Prim. I'm sorry if we camped in your yard. May we stay untill morning?"
Prim, from your research, you gather that this is not so much a "rock family" as an earth elemntal known as a galeb duhr who has animated a couple of boulders.
"Hello," the galeb duhr grins and waves at you. It then babbles something in a gravelly dialect that you do not understand.

"I'm sorry, I don't speak Primordial. Do you speak elvish? Do you speak halfling?"* (if not) "Perhaps you could draw what you're trying to say." (She takes a stick & draws him in the dirt)
"You'd have to ask him Badger. I thought earth elementals liked to eat gems, if that helps. (will edit if her Arcana wasn't high enough to know that)
In Sylvan Taxidea asks "I don't suppose you speak Sylvan?"

Upon seeing Prim drawing in the dirt, the galeb duhr takes a stick and begins explaining things again. It draws a big circle on the ground with tree-like symbols in it. It then points at a grove of tall, thick and ancient-looking oaks. It then draws a man just outside of the circle with a big, pointed hat with a wide brim. The galeb duhr straightens up to look taller, assumes a stern expression and says in druidic (which Orion seems to understand), "Stay here and guard those trees. No one is to go near them without my permission." It then goes on saying something in Terran, which none of you speak.
Taxidea shrugs. "Guard the trees? Sure, why not? I got you Rocky!" He smiles at Rocky and gives him a thumbs up.

"Wait? Wasn't he supposed to guard the trees?(gestures at Rocky) Or are we supposed to guard the trees? How long? Is this wizard or Druid (points at pointy-hat in drawing) willing to help us? Someone could cut straps of the bandages to rig noise making alarms if anyone approaches the trees. I'm going back to sleep so I can cast spells tomorrow."
Prim pulls a roll of bandages from her pack & goes back to sleep until her watch

Orion stirs with a startle, grabs his gear and backs up to survey the situation.

OOC: Sorry for the delay. We have lost internet due to a tree falling down in a storm and knocking out both power and internet service.
The galeb duhr returns Taxidea's thumbs-up then sits back down, assuming the guise of a large boulder once again.
Orion says, "It looks like we're guarding these trees for a while. Anyone have any suggestions?"
