(Not sure if Ebzer needed Persuasion too, but here it is just in case: 16 )
The barbarian looks at his comrades, "Well... shall we go derro-huntin'?"
"Sure!" is eager to start Khessa "Shall we have Traydark follow us while invisible? Just in case he has better chances to surprise our prey that way... Or do you think better to await, before casting?"
"Traydark is standing right here and will consider his best tactics when we have finished our business with the captain here, thank you very much."The noble drow says, shooting Khessa an angry look, then returning his attention to Captain Blackskull to see if there was anything more she had to add before they were set free to find the elusive derro with the weird tentacle adorned hat.
"Huh... I wasn't trying to boss you, you know, noble drow?" Khessa lowers her voice, so that only her friends can hear "You are becoming incredibly touchy, Traydark... What's the problem?" she smiles and winks "Are you afraid that I start to be more interested in Ebzer than in you, jealous one? Or did you just choke on some of Errde's boots dirt, earlier, while you were licking them so eagerly?"
"Thank you for appreciating my attempts to keep us alive human, it is called being courteous and diplomatic, nothing you would know the slightest thing about, but apparently your own insolent behaviour is going unpunished, so far." The drow snarls quietly, turning away as if having no intention of continuing this discussion in front of Captain Blackskull.
'Yes, whatever he has, at the moment he's too touchy to play around' thinks Khessa, smiling at the prompt reply. 'Let's give him a break and wait for Errde to say goodbye, then hopefully we will be able to agree together how we want to organize this derro hunt'.
Errde watches the snippy conversation with a placid look."Well if you are doing arguing with each other, the guards here will hand you your insignias on the way out. Only use them if you are being detained or access to some place you need. Return to me only when you have concluded your time here, although you can send word to me with one of the Stone Guard if you need to update me beforehand."With that she snapped at a nearby guard who comes forward to escort you out of the hold and hand over insignias of the Stone Guard to everyone.
Katryl snatches the insignia as she heads out. She walks in silence with the group until they are a bit away. "I suppose just leaving the city is out of the question. Let's get this over with!" She holds her tongue as she continues marching along ahead, despite not being sure where they're going. The light strands in her hair are starting to glow a soft orange color.
Traydark too accepts his insignia and pockets it, following Katryl out into the city again. "Yes, I think our best and safest course of action would be trying to find this derro now, it might even bring us favor with the rulers of Gracklstugh which could be quite valuable if Mistress Ilvara's agents finds us here." He says in agrement with the genasi. "As we are in no immediate hurry I suggest going to Ghohlbrorn's Lair to get a decent meal and a short rest and I will be able to provide a scout for us to help find and track down this weird derro."He says, being both tired and hungry after several tendays of travel through the tunnels of the Underdark and apparently not in a particularly good mood.
Khessa takes her insignia and hides it on herself promptly following her companions out.
"Meal, rest and help are all things that I agree with..." smiles the blonde arcane warrior "Although I'm a little surprised that the duregar," she mutters to herself, as she proceeds towards Ghohlbrorn's Lair "with all the personnel they have and with their ability to exploit invisible agents, cannot capture this Droki. He must have some trick up his sleeve, such as either some spies among the duergar themselves or some special power of detection - perhaps some form of blindsight, like for example bats have... Well, anyway at least in our case he shouldn't know we're looking for him, so maybe we'll actually have our chances".
"Yes, or we are used for political reasons. There are always power struggles behind the scenes and we can only expect to be pawns in such a game, although as you know if a pawn completes it's run it will have power of it's own."The noble drow says with a wry smile, making his way towards Ghohlbrorns Lair, asking for directions if necessary.
It isn't too hard to find the tavern, the inn is built inside a small cavern complex beneath the Blade Bazaar at the northern end of the Darklake District. Its halls are cold and damp. A central chamber serves as a dining room, branching out into different small, twisting halls along which the rooms are excavated. It is not a very pleasant place, but relatively secure and safe. There are quite a few patrons already inside of various races though none pay you any attention when you arrive.
Khessa looks around, more out of habit than real interest in this not very pleasant place, and for once she just relaxes, finally fixing her blue eyes on Traydark and smiling, while she thinks to herself: 'Let's leave it to our susceptible 'expert in social interactions' ... After all, he's the 'courteous and diplomatic' one... what could an insolent armor-fixated brutish woman like me understand of all of this?'
(OOC: If applicable, Khessa takes the help action by not saying anything that can ruin Traydark's ability checks - I'm giving him advantage, right? 😉)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The noble drow would waste no time on courtesy in a simple place like this inn, heading over to the bar to acquire a key for a room and order some food and drink to be sent there. "I think we all could do with some rest. I will see you back here in a couple of hours time." He explains. Back at his room he would start with eating, drinking and resting, after which he would finally perform a ritual to summon his servant. After about two hours he would be back at the bar, clearly reinvigorated and ready to find the mad derro with the tentacle adorned hat. When back he would discreetly ask around in the bar for any sightings of their target.
Persuasion: 15 Another roll if help action is given: 10
(Nah, that would only be true when dealing with people of power, and according to the drow of course ;-)
Khessa too, at that point, eats something and gets assigned a room in which to rest and regain strength. If possible, she also asks for a bucket of water and a piece of soap to be able to wash more thoroughly than she was able to during the journeys along the tunnels of the Underdark.
Be that as it may, the blonde arcane warrior stops the noble drow for a moment before he retires to his room: "Traydark... earlier, at the bazaar, while I was buying the components for that incantation that summons a familiar, I couldn't help but noticing that you were buying them too… Now, I was simply preparing for the future, since I still haven't learned to fully master that ritual…” her blue eyes light up with interest “but you, instead, can do it already, right? And do you want to summon the familiar soon, I guess? If you let me know when you perform the ritual, I would really like to observe it... You know, one day I will try that ritual too... and having already seen it successfully accomplished with my own eyes could be a deciding advantage!"
Then, if Traydark agrees, when he casts the ritual, the tall adventuress arranges to join him and writes down as many details as possible on her grimoire during the magical process.
During the rest of the time, Khessa limits himself to eating, recovering her strength, studying her notes on magic...
(OOC: she takes her short rest)
She is then ready for the derro hunt as soon as the others are!
"Yes, well I was planning on resting first, and although I appreciate your commitment to mastery of the art of magic, this particular magic I must perform in solitude."The noble drow says politely but firmly to the blonde arcane warrior. "I will be sure to tell you all about it later though." He adds before going off to his room.

"So why are we resting?" Katryl asks, though Traydark and Khessa have already wandered off. She slumps down in a chair near Ebzer. "Those two never shut up!" she sighs. Growing quiet, she starts looking around and the various people in the place, trying to catch some mention of their quarry or of things outside the Underdark. (Perception: 20)

Ebzer will take a seat in the common room, order some ale, and try to overhear some local gossip.
