Ereni feels as if she is floating. No direct orders. Massive Red Bull on the loose. Probably because of me. Killing a King and all. Maybe if I go back to Jappiter, I can be lucky like old Emmett was and have a Kruthik put a claw through my eye so things make sense again and I can take a little dirt nap.
Amitola, Jonathan and Lady Kaede (and King Lir if he is looking) see a strange sight. Suddenly emerging from being invisible to both regular vision and darkvision as she leaves the darkness, Ereni goes sailing out a window in the Keep's walls on a Carpet of Flying with Joy the dog aboard as well. The half-elven ranger flashing briefly back to being invisible whenever she passes through a patch of darkness.
"Don't think you all need me to save the horsey lady. And your highnes- ah, majes-, er... Lir. If I survive the Red Bull and you survive these piles of bones, you can come find me and take my head if you think that's what has to happen. It's been on my shoulders about long enough anyway."
With that, Ereni and Joy are outside the keep, flying back towards where Nodjeim and Ward have gone to face the Red Bull. Ereni would take shots at the Red Bull any time she is within 600' of it, keeping the Carpet of Flying fairly low to the ground unless necessary to avoid the Bull or other hazards.
Lir doesn't seem to be paying attention to Ereni's words, or if he is, seems to have no desire to harm anyone, including Ereni. Not at the moment anyway.
Lady Kaede, Amitola, and Johnathan would find that the upper floor of the keep was overrun. There were skeletons milling about the halls. A woman lay dead in the center of one hall, auburn hair flared around her head. She was face down. Schmendrick cried something out at the sight but it was indiscernable through his grief and the sounds of the skeletons.
One particularly fearsome looking skeleton, of the half dozen in the corridor, is working on battering down a door at the end of the hall...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
From the cover of the stairwell, Kaede slows her breathing down to an almost meditative state, centering herself, before taking two well-aimed explosive arrow shots at the 'fearsome' skeleton who is attempting to break down the door at the other end of the hall-
Exploding Arrow Attack #1: 8 Damage: 7 plus 2 fire damage to anyone within 5 feet of the skeleton (including the skeleton itself)
Exploding Arrow Attack #2: 22 Damage: 5 plus 1 fire damage to anyone within 5 feet of the skeleton (including the skeleton itself)
She'll then take her movement to run 30 feet towards the group of skeletons, ready to melee attack them her next turn...
The first arrow skitters down the hall without effect, while the second hits it in its armored shoulder and explodes. Flames lick over its body. The skeleton pays no mind to the explosion or the flames crawling over it. It rears back with its sword and strikes the door. A gap splinters in the center of the door as the sword sinks in, and the door looks ready to go down.
The skeletons spring into action. An arrow splinters on Amitola's armor, doing no damage. Another whizzes past Johnathan, while a third sinks into one of the other skeletons as it shambles in front of the archer. The skeleton with the arrow in its back lashes its short sword ineffectively in the air, while another's short sword clangs without effect on Amitola's shield while another skeleton grabs for the shield but is unable to get ahold of it.
The plated skeleton pays no mind to the battle. The sword comes back, falls forward. The door splits, and then the skeleton moves forward, breaking the door to splinters as it barges into the room...
There's a scream. There is the sound of a sword rending flesh. Another scream, much weaker, and then the sword sound...
The light outside begins to dim as another skeletal archer fires at Lady Kaede, and the arrow deflects off her armor, followed by another. One arrow passes through Johnathan's cloak but doesn't hurt him.
Johnathan sees the skeletons break down the door and springs into action. He turns to his companions. Let’s move, we must get in that door. That unicorn ain’t dying. As he says the words he feels a sense of dread as the light outside dims. He didn’t expect sunset just yet. Something was wrong. Terribly wrong. He pulls out his wand and points at two armoured skeletons and an archer and shoots sparks of energy to them. Runes on the side of the wand glow slightly as he incants some arcane trigger to send a bolt of lightning out. Before he even sees the damaged that was dealt he runs to the door a bit before bursting into black smoke. A moment passes before he emerges in the room with the plate skeleton.
Movement: 30 feet towards door
Bonus action: Misty step (racial feature)
Action: Wand of Lightning (5 charges used out of 7 to cast lightning bolt at 7th level) dexterity save dc 15
Two of the skeletons are instantly reduced to smoking dust and another takes a hard hit but doesn't go down. It staggers as it nocks an arrow and fires, pinging the arrow off Amitola's armor. The arrow clacked against the wall harmlessly. Amitola winds up in close combat as another skeleton tries to stick her with a short sword but is unable to penetrate her armor. Another arrow bounces off her before one whizzes past Lady Kaede...followed by the one that sticks in her arm.
Inside the room, Johnathan sees a prone body in the floor where a beautiful woman has died. She clutches a horrendous wound that has practically split her sternum open, and she's not longer breathing...just staring off into the corner of the room with glassy eyes.
The plated skeleton wheels on Johnathan and whispers something in Draconic...
"Fuuuuus....Ro Dah!"
A wave of power storms through the room toward the Warlock, threatening to hurl him out the door and back into the corridor with the other skeletons...
Lady Kaede's first attack bounces harmlessly off the skeletons armor, but the second cuts deep into its ribs. The skeleton doesn't seem to mind, though there's a puff of dust as the bone is pulverized...
Amitola holds the hall. Her first sword attack misses an exceptionally dodgy skeleton, but her second swing cleaves it in half, toppling it into a pile on the floor.
Johnathan stares for a moment at the dead body. He had failed. Lost another mare and was powerless to stop it. He turns to the plate armoured skeleton and a sense of rage builds up. His eyes go blood red as his skin turns even more pale. His breathing is heavy as he stares at the skeleton. RRRHHHHHUUUUU. He just screams as two black beams of energy shoot out towards the plated skeleton.
Johnathan's eldritch blast hits the skeleton and bursts harmlessly over its armor. It rushed after Johnathan, swinging its shield at Johnathan like a battering ram, but fails to knock Johnathan down before he slashed him with his sword. The skeleton turned, lashing out at Lady Kaede with the sword, once, twice, trying to do what it can to put the two of them down...
The two archer skeletons in the hallway begin firing relentlessly at Amitola. Six arrows, two hit, slipping through gaps in her armor to stick in muscle...
Continuing her attack on the plated skeleton, Lady Kaede lets our a "Ei! Ei!" battlecry as she continues to slice-n-dice the skeleton like a sushi chef:
Grunting as the arrows hit, knowing she can not fight with the arrows, Amitola rips them out as she takes her sword and begins her swing. With pain coming from her now open wounds, she swings at the first archer skeleton, gaining all momentum in her swing, making full contact with it.
Grumbling to herself under her breath, after making contact with it, "Karma's a *censored word*"
Once knocking it to the side, she comes back to the other. Now just annoyed with the pain coming from her wound that they had inflicted, she takes her aggravation out on the standing skeleton, swinging across in the opposite directing making contact with its core.
Lady Kaede's katana buries in the armored skeleton's face and it stumbles back, seeming to have trouble regaining its composure before it moves forward, rushing her with its shield up. It swings, but the swing is clumsy, and the shield goes wide...but wide enough that the skeleton follows up with a swing of its sword. The sword rakes her side, is withdrawn, and it slashes at her again before stepping toward Johnathan. The sword whizzes by Kaede with no effect and the skeleton spins it toward the Warlock and misses badly...
The archer skeleton in the hall, knowing it is too close for its ranged weapon to be effective, starts stabbing at Amitola with its short sword, which clang uselessly off the Paladin's armor.
There's a sound behind Amitola, near the stairs...like rushing footsteps.
"We have troubles." Lir says. He still has his sword and his shield up, but the side of his face is still smoking and terribly burned by something. Blood is oozing from gaps in his armor and running down his legs. He's bleeding badly... "Real troubles. Where's Amalthea? Is she safe?"
He sees the body in the hallway...
"Molly...no..."
Schmendrick, who has been trying to get to Molly's body through the whole ordeal, reaches for the crumpled woman finally and pulls her to himself, cradling her head against his bosom as he sobs...
"Unless someone has something up their sleeve, we are going to die in this tower."
Kaede manages to take a fruitful slash from the skeleton, blood spurting out all over the attacking monster. She hawks up a loogie, and spits the combination of blood, saliva, and snot all over the face of the attacking armored skeleton before attacking again:
Katana Attack #1: 11 Damage: 11
Katana Attack #2: 22 Damage: 10
Bonus Action: Second Wind, healing herself for 9
Second Wind: You have a limited well of stamina that you can draw on to protect yourself from harm. On your turn, you can use a bonus action to regain hit points equal to 1d10 + your fighter level. Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again.
Amitola sees what the skeleton is attempting and she slightly chuckles, pulling back her sword to swing again. She slams her sword into him once more, with pure force and anger hitting him in the core. Once making contact, going back for a second attack, she swings back through, however misjudging and completely missing the archer.
While sighing quickly once she missed, "well *many bad word options*"

Johnathan is still furious that the skeletons have won. Even if they kill them all it wouldn’t change the fact that the unicorn was dead. Johnathan starts shooting two beams at a window in an attempt to break them open. He struggles to aim properly since the skeleton is so close to him.

Can you not die when we look away for a few moments? As if things couldn't get any more depressing. We'll take care of this the best we can."
The skeleton takes a beating from the combined efforts of Kaede and Johnathan...but it doesn't go down, even as it starts to fall apart. It seems like its frame is starting to reconstitute itself...
The skeleton stumbled when Johnathan's attack hits it, and then two arrows sprout from its back. It says something in an ancient language and turns its ire on the appearance of Lelith and Greko as they come in through the window on what looks like, no, definitely is a giant bat.
