Ophelia stands at the railing, watching the bustle of the porters. She wears a linen shirt with linen breeches, tall boots, and a light scarf wrapped loosely over her head to protect from the sun's glare. She's attached two pieces of smoked glass to her spectacles to diminish the glare of the sun.
Ophelia folds up the note from Adruus and regards Adhida with a sad smile. "I'm afraid the professor's condition is in no way improved. It seems neither Maitland nor mister Adruus will be joining us in our quest." She holds up the small obsidian stones. "Curious that Adruus should send these with his farewell missive. Can you enlighten me as to their purpose?" She studies them, rolling them around her palm.
Glyph, having spent much of his time in his room to prep for the journey, decides to catch some fresh air and walks up to the deck. Catching sight of Ophelia and Adhida deep in conversation, he decides not to interrupt. Rather, he makes his way to the opposite side of the deck, watching the golden sands below. His cloak billows naturally in the breeze as he leans on the deck railing, though, in contrast to his typical flashy golden outfit, he's now dressed in stark black armor and a void-like black cloak that seems to (but doesn't) absorb the light around it. He's left the black, wide-brimmed hat that he obtained the day they departed the capitol in his room, choosing instead a high ponytail. Resting a hand on Beatrix's hilt, he rests his elbow on the railing and his chin in his hand.
"Boundless and bare, the lone and level sands stretch far away . . ." he says quietly to himself, recalling something he'd read as a child. With a slight smile, Glyph closes his eyes and lets the sun wash over his face.

OOC I'll need a travel roll 1d20 for the events of the first day of travel on the Harpy.
Sand sailing seems relatively simple. The party begins the early afternoon with a group of six other ships but quickly these ships drop off stopping at settlements or just moving in different directions. There's no clear path and the dunes themselves seem endless in all directions after a good hour Me'at Halwa is even fading from view nothing but the massive pyramids remain visible to the naked eye!

The sand ship moves eastward and Maanai seems to shadow the captain while Adhida remains below deck having turned the birth she's going to live in the next week and a half into a makeshift work space. There the party finds sketches of the book and ring as well as a crude map of the tomb itself! Adhida seems somber about it all but also determined to solve the issue at hand. The young mage gives off an enthusiasm that some might find infectious!
That first night on-board Adhida and Maanai retire after dinner, which is well prepared by the crew, and a short time conversing about their expectations ahead. They then charge the party, alongside ship's crew, to figure out watch.

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
The first night aboard the party finds restful with varying degrees of emotions from the turn of events. It seems Maitland might have gilded their story a bit but did not, by all accounts, lie. Adhida and Maanai seem very capable. One might say the cousins are two sides of the same coin while both bring two radically different perspectives to bare on any situation or problem. The crew of the Harpy seem capable too and thar night out sailing over the Scorched Sea the party finds a restful peace that might not come again in a long time or if ever again!
The next few days the party passes on the journey are easy too. It's almost as if there's something is too good about the journey so far. Maanai still watches the captain like a hawk while Adhida breezes around the boat in flowing neutral colored robes and hair braided always with a book in her hand.
Then on the fourth night just as watch is being divided up a crew member on watch flies down to the deck announcing a sand storm ahead!
OOC this task I require a skill check from each of you to determine what your PC does to help the party move forward!

"I'll help batten down the hatches." says Jada. He then heads up to help where he can and to secure any loose item that may become deadly if flung about by the sand storm. Once done he will head down and firmly shut the door.
Ophelia runs up to quarterdeck, where the helmsman is steering. "Gather round! I can fit nine people inside this spell, and the helmsman needs to be one!" She opens her spellbook and begins casting Leomund's Tiny Hut
Firebrand... kind of looks like an idiot for a few minutes since he has no idea what to do right now. But seeing Jada struggling with the hatches, he quickly steps in to do what he can to close at least a few of them before the storm hits.
Glyph stumbles up from below deck, having been bed-ridden with an abnormally bad case of "air-sea" sickness. The half-elf's face has regained its normal hue---it was actually tinged with green in the height of his illness--and he appears on the deck rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. With a very large, very performative, yawn, Glyph begins, "Well, I don't think I'll eat for a week or two, my friends. In fact, I've probably ejected more food than the lot--"
Glyph stops short as he opens his eyes. They widen at the organized chaos on the ship's deck, and then widen even more at the sight of an impending sand storm. Instinctively, Glyph quickly begins to walk among the hard-working crew and his companions, trying to simultaneously uplift the moods of the people on the deck and to reinforce their confidence. His comments range from witty jokes to bolster moods to serious affirmations to strengthen resolve. After making a couple of rounds, he walks to the tiny hut and examines it. "Is this meant for us or the crew? Shall I enter this charming little domicile or are we to wait out the storm below deck?"

"I'll gladly return to my quarters then, Ophelia," Glyph responds.

On the deck, Maani remains with the captain beneath the dome along with Opehlia, Firebrand, and Jada as the other party members as well as the crew stay/go below. The wind and sand batter the ship rolling over the ship again and again like water but the sand doesn't leave the deck as quickly accumulating. As the party watches the storm outside and feels the ship jarring and dipping from the weather they see crackles of lightning as well! Rippling through the sand the sharp white and blue shocks of color in black sand!
