I'm not sure whether there will even be any opponents for Rain by the time it gets to his turn, but if there are, it's always nice to finish a fight emphatically with a critical hit. 😀
Ok, so Liara may be leaving the campaign, because of business and some uninterest. Since we're down to 3 people now, I'll see if I can find someone else.

(Gotcha. Liara is in Europe, right? It might also be difficult to keep up if there are multiple rounds happening while she's offline /asleep. You might want to check with her whether part of the problem was the way asynchronous play-by-post was working and whether there's a way to improve on that. For example, slow down the cadence so that everyone in the party posts before describing the action and starting the next round. Or have players post contingent actions so that it's not like their character is just inactive in the background until they post again. I know that I've found the PbP to be a bit odd so far.
Did you want to pause the action here until you find a couple more players? Or do you want to finish off this encounter while you contact other potential party members?)

She says she is busy. She also said that she prefers a different playstyle, but didn't elaborate on that. She said "you can try to find sb elsewhere"
If anybody has advice on what you like/dislike about this campaign, I'm open to change. This is my first time after all.
And I'll add in some hopefully interesting storyline after this battle.
I would say that I wish we had had more opportunity to role play meeting one another. I feel like on the first day the game got going that things were rushed along quickly and we werent able to interact properly with one another. This being play by post, some people might only be able to post once a day. Also once the enemies entered the throne room, it went straight from them entering to us being attacked and damaged, it felt more like a video game that keeps on running even though we arent in the room.
Honestly, tell me anything is unrealistic. I've never been in a campaign before, let alone DM. I know the basics, but not much else. Think they should retreat?
From the direction of the garden (whatever that is) a bugbear comes, a glaive gripped tightly in one hand. On the other side, there's a substance which appears to be an acidic sludge.
"I got rid of the giant weed, and--"
Ghurk's eyes pop when he realizes that the castle is under attack, and immediately leaps out towards the goblins. He slashes a glaive at the hobgoblin from so far away that it seems his arms elongate to keep up, aiming to kill.

To be fair, their comrades have been cut down all around them and they themselves are slightly injured. I suggest you try a book called The Monsters Know What They're Doing. It's by Keith Ammann, and it has combat tactics which monsters will be likely to employ, including when their self preservation instinct kicks in.
Please don't use it to kill us *sheepishly scratches head*
Don't worry people. So maybe I'm a little new to a lot of the gameplay but I know how to write down a story. Next combat should hopefully be more interesting (and accurate)

(Lots of newbies all around. It's OK. PbP moves more slowly, so the DM has more time to learn and adjust, too.🙂)

Well, Rain takes out Slug with the bonus action, so now we have:
We've been waiting for Laira to attack but they aren't very active. Should we continue without Liara? I PM'd already but no response.

I found someone new. Ghurk, welcome.

Ghurk, if your arriving now, we're fighting these two. It was Liaras' turn, but she left so I guess it's your turn?

Ok. I'll slow things down a bit. And after the combat is over more role-playing.

I'm fine with more combat, but realistically the golbinoids would probably retreat by now. Or not! Whatever.
Will everyone stop calling him "The Demogorgon"? It's his name, not a title!

Ok. I took in some advice. I'll try to use it :)
Also, Ghurk, did you attack Gort or the Hobgoblin?
