Quill's sheet is just fine. Checking the other empty beds you find that one of them has been short-sheeted. Emungo comes in while you are examining it, and asks, "What are you doing to my bed, Quill?"
Demoiselle: Sister Naphtali, as she is cleaning up from the evening meal, informs you that the women's dorm is just through the men's dorm on the left side. "Make sure you announce yourself as you head in to the men's dorm since there's no door."
Korlan and Esvaris: As ninth bell draws close you see a spiky red-haired dwarf girl in novice robes and two other human females in their early 20's, wearing novice initiate robes, pass through the men's dorm and into the women's dorm. No one claims the room at the far west end of the dorm. Not long after, you hear the voices from the common area fade away and the rectory grows silent. If the others in your group have all turned in for the night, you may make a stealth check to sneak out.
Demoiselle smiled warmly at her. "Ah, thank you, ma soeur. I will surely keep that in mind." She replied. After finishing her meal and clearing it away, Demoiselle took her new armour and headed towards the dorm. "Hello, boys, I am just passing through." She called out, her tone playful, as she moved past and into the women's dorm. Finding an empty bed and chest she stashed her things and got ready for bed.
Quill make a Charisma check to convince Emungo of your sincerity and honesty, contested against his Insight check: 8 Because right now he is looking at you very suspiciously.
Quill: "Yes, I wonder who could have done that." Emungo says, looking at you as if there's not really any question of who did it. He will certainly keep an eye on you from this point forward. Warrel, hearing this conversation in the midst of his frustrated attempt to go to sleep, gets up, checks his sheet, shoots an extremely annoyed glance at you, and then fixes his bedding. Then he shares a look of mutual suffering with Esvaris, since they are both victims of this rude prank.
Quill rolls his eyes. He's got a good idea of who might have done it, himself, remembering his own bed short-sheeted back at the Second Sun temple more than once.
Esvaris and Korlan sneak stealthily out of the dorm, through the common room, and over to the basilica. There is still some activity this late at night as people pass through the square in front of the basilica, but mostly people heading off to evening plans or home from work. When you get to the front gates you find them both closed and locked for the evening. The surly guard from early this morning is standing in front of the smaller, elaborately carved, Holy Gate.
First, I give Korlan the Trickster's Blessing, giving him advantage on stealth checks.
Then I will cast Disguise Self and appear as Dawnlord Menges. I walk confidently up to the front gate, and tell the guard, "please open the gate, we (I nod to Korlan) must get into the Basilica at once!"
Esvaris: The guard looks a bit panicked and confused. "Lord Menges, I.. that is, the main gate is locked for the night and this gate, as you know, can only be opened on the direct orders of the High Lord during the Day of the Light's Blessing." His eyes dart from you to Korlan in perplexity. "Is... is the other entrance closed then, sir? Have you lost your key?"
I draw breath sharply looking like I'm about to get very angry. I bluster "How dare..." I pause, and deflate. "I'm sorry, you have done nothing wrong. It's his fault, really." I leer at Korlan. "He left my keys inside the Basilica. I must retrieve them. Can you not open these doors?" I gesture at the main gate.

Sheets shrinking that much in the wash? Doesn't make sense, Quill thinks. He examines the sheet.

And that's all I have to say about that.

"Some of these beds have been short-sheeted!" he says.
"I wonder who would have done that?"
