Korlan and Esvaris you travel around the basilica and find a door to the library, next to the vegetable gardens on the northeast corner of the church. The moon is rising above you. The wooden iron bound door is locked. Make a Perception check.
Esvaris and Korlan, as they approach the door, have an uneasy feeling looking out over the moonlit garden. Despite the lack of wind, there appears to be a rustle among the plants, but they can't pinpoint exactly what's causing it. They feel a gut deep urge to hurry and get inside.
Demoiselle: Although the novice initiates seem unaffected by the malodorous current of air expanding through the room, Safara wakes with a retching sound and opens a window and the door between the dorms. Then she lays back down to sleep, grumbling quietly
Warrel rolls over, cherubic face resting peacefully against his pillow, one hand dangles over the side of his bed. Something in the darkness glides past his fingertips along the floor. Minutes tick past. The sheet on Simeon's bed twitches slightly. Then a long sinewy bump moves slowly along under his white bed sheet, slipping alongside his legs and up towards his torso.
“Keep an eye out back there Esvaris. Give me a minute, I’m sure I can get this door open.” I’m going to try to pick the lock with my lock pick set.
Lock picking: 12 (Is this roll just with a proficiency bonus (2) or dex (3) and not advantage? I’ll update in this post if something else is the case. I used my proficiency bonus in my roll.)
Esvaris feels a prickling sensation of eyes upon his back, watching him with malevolence. Clouds roll across the moon, casting eerie shadows upon the garden.
Korlan works the lock, almost has it, and then it slips. Using a bit more force and less finesse, he manages to finally get the tumblers to click into place. It's open.
I bail into the room as quickly as possible, closing the door behind us looking for a lock to relock the door of the room. I’ll lock it if there is one. “There.... was something ...... out there.......” I say breathing heavily.
Esvaris and Korlan: Now standing directly in a gap between two tall bookshelves, you find yourself in a round, domed library, on a balcony level. Above you is a beautiful frescoed domed ceiling and below you is a subterranean level of the library. There is a wide staircase directly across from you at the other end of the balcony that leads down into the lower level where you can see desks and comfortable couches and a large wooden desk with a tall stool next to it. There are lovely arches all along the balcony through which you can see bookshelves packed with books wrapping all the way around to the stairs. Above the stairs are two intricately carved wooden doors forming an arch. The library is currently lit only by moonlight streaming in through high windows above you. If you do not have Darkvision, it's dim lighting. You recall that Emungo entered the library from the northern transept, not far from where you met Dawnlord Menges and Lord Atterley this morning.
I follow behind Esvaris. “Hope you know where you’re going mate..... wouldn’t want to be caught snooping around on our first night here.” I try to remain quiet as we walk.
Esvaris opens one arched door, peering out and sees that this is indeed the northern transept, with its smaller altar, where anyone leading the overflow crowd for the dawn service would perform the morning rites. Further down he can see the main altar in a large semicircular recess.
Esvaris should make a stealth check, too. There are pillars all along the way to that area near the narthex where the prayer boxes are. You'd need to get closer to see with only the moonlight from the stained glass clerestory windows lighting the room dimly. Also, Esvaris and Korlan should make perception checks when they get close.
(advantage added to the last post. Thank the gods Usoara for my lucky trait. Saved me a few times now)
I want to try hiding out where I have a good vantage point of the church. South of the main alter in the center. Don’t want anyone wanking in behind me from where we came from.

Demoiselle rolls over in her sleep and the girl's dorm is suddenly flooded with gas. The former assassin is truly silent but deadly.

Are there enough obstacles to obscure our movement until we get near the place I saw the mysterious figure this morning?
Also, @Kyleh2486, Korlan has advantage on stealth checks for a while because I gave him the Blessing of the Trickster.

Korlan can reroll his stealth check with advantage if he'd like to, or just keep the original.
