Dark listens intently to those in the group and to the gnome. <No matter what I can not stay in this confined space for long.> Dark thinks to himself.
"My home is in the sky. If you do not understand what the sky means, it is bright and blue and far from the ground. If you have the ability, you can fly for hours or even days with out stopping. My kind have been the protectors of the Plane of the Air but some of us have come to the material plane to help to beings there. I came as an outcast from my people. Not that I did anything to deserve being outcast but nonetheless my appearance forced others to shun me. Most of my kind resemble the more beautiful birds of the material plane; however, it has been said that I look more like a vulture. These birds feed on the dead and dying and are generally seen as an omen of death. I don't see the world that way but I help when I can. Just before coming to this place, I was carrying a freshly killed deer back to my home when I saw my reflection in a pond below me. I remember thinking <I wonder if there is anyone in the world that would not think that I am ugly.> The next thing I was in this tower with all of my new friends in a jail cell." After speaking, Dark goes to get a big drink of the water that has just been provided.

"I lived my whole life in the same town amidst rolling hills and green pastures. I was a stone carver. I worked in fine detail and would make wonderful things," Sim said, smiling at the memories. "I had a family - a wife and daughter. My daughter had her own family, of course - she was nearly seventy, after all. It was a wonderful place." The happy memories coming to an end, Sim's eyes lost their sparkle and his mouth became downcast. "I don't have anything to go back to, however. That's all gone. Hopefully I can help these folks get back to their lives. Once that's done... I guess I'll have to make a new one for myself, somehow."
After speaking so much, Simmeat retreated into himself and bowed his head.

"Hmm..." Mairshall takes these tales into consideration. "These are interesting tales. I do not understand all the words you speak, but they sound somewhat fantastical." He then looks to Orianna. "The 'chambers' you speak of. There are old places in these caverns. I can guide you to the next one; one of the paths that I spoke of is near it. There will be one stop to sleep between here and where it is, should you want to travel. I warn you, however, once you enter I will go no further." He then looks back to the group. "My next question, do you think you could survive without aid beyond where we are? I know the tunnels are treacherous, and evil spirits could easily slay any of you."
For Darkwing (and Leojym if he gets a 15 or higher):
When you head over to get a refreshing drink of water. Something, or a lack of something, catches you eye. The water is smooth and clear, as to be expected from such a substance. However, there is no reflection on the surface.
"Perhaps if we had access to our equipment it would be much easier to make it out of this. Some of us have access to magic that we do not need a focus or components to cast but others do not so it is necessary to have access to such things. I am willing to try and leave if it is possible as I still wish to see my family once more. If the rest of us newcomers decide to leave then I will go with them to attempt finding a way out."Mara tells him as she slowly looks around, letting herself get used to seeing so well in the darkness.
Dark is marveled and fearful about what he did not see in the water. Thinks to himself <Is this a place without reflection? What does that mean? Maybe that will be our way out. If we could only see our reflection somehow here, maybe it would transfer us back to our plane.> Turning to those who are near, " I need to ask the next question. I know that I already asked one but this is important to all of us.... Maybe."

Taken aback, Rumble just keeps looking back and forth between the others in the group. "Well... uh... That's... quite a leap to make in'it?"He asked warily. But, in the interest of humoring Dark, Rumble still makes his way over to the water as he said, "N-not that I'm say'n this ain't something we should keep an eye out fer just in case, but -- Wha-.... Leojym faces the female gnome with a somber look on his face. "I receive my power from Angharradh, a goddess of wisdom and my people. She has granted me this power to help others and protect myself as I pursue wisdom of my own. I can not feel her here as I normally can, but part of her must still be with me. If it is not too much of an imposition, could I ask you another favor? I have my magic to offer in exchange if it is my ability to grant."
"What do you mean not reflection?!" The golden elf turns to look back in the basin. He pauses in bewilderment and stares waiting for his face to appear. He whispers, "What sort of dark plane is this."
Could it be true? I did see my reflection in that giant's eye before being transported here... But what does it mean? And what does it matter? How does knowing we don't have a reflection in this strange place help us? The elf seems to think we're on a different plane of existence... Maybe I should just stay here... It might be better than going back to the ruined town...
Simmeat withdrew further into himself and allowed himself some time for introspection. He tried to distract himself from the fact that he could no longer see his family staring at him... It didn't work very well.
