With the knowledge that shadow is not drowning, and will be ok for a little bit, Alben will throw a firebolt at sms1 (assuming he can see it from 5 feet down in the 'pool'): Attack: 9 Damage: 4
The bigger spider's wounds overwhelm it and it dies.
(Both of these were homebrewed spiders and wondering why this fight was as hard as it was, it was supposed to be an easy fight, went back and looked at both my spiders and the spiders in the Monster Manual and realized that I had built in to much Hip Points. The smaller spider will also die at the beginning of it's turn, if you don't finish it off first. Sorry for the inconvenience, I will be given up a little extra XP. This is a learning experience for me and its not the first time I made something to strong and had to adjust the monster.)
Fario droppes his swords and picks up the bow from the ground and shoots the smaller spider Attack: 16 Damage: 6 killing it
"Guys, Shadow looks to be in bad shape. I'm pretty sure he is poisoned, we need to get him to a healer. Someone with a little muscle come down here and help me get him out."
"It probably won't help with the poison, but this might get him back on his feet," Tyris says, pulling out a potion of healing and pouring it down Shadow's throat to heal him for 7
(Totally forgot I had antitoxin too. No clue if it will help since it just says it confers advantage on saving throws, but why not)
Seeing the healing potion seeming to help keep Shadow alive, Tyris next pulls out the vial of antitoxin. "Not sure if this works if you've already been poisoned, but let's give it a shot too." He pours the vial down Shadow's throat.
"I'm hurt pretty bad over here. Imma need to take a breather." Laladak sits down on the edge of the fountain and tends to his wounds.
Hit Die: 5
To anyone looking, it's pretty obvious that Laladak is is still bloody.
(9/22 Hp)
A short rest is a period of downtime, at least 1 hour long, during which a character does nothing more strenuous than eating, drinking, reading, and tending to wounds.
“This place really sucks! I wonder if the missing children are even still alive. We have to press on though right?”
It's been 5 and a half hours since you took a long rest.
All said and done you haven't even been down here a day. You probably don't need to start worrying about the missing children for a while. You got hired a couple of days after they were taken, and you spent a day looking for them in town.
From now on I am going to post how long it's been since your last long rest (A character can't benefit from more than one long rest in a 24-hour period, and a character must have at least 1 hit point at the start of the rest to gain its benefits.)
I would maybe suggest you head back to the inn get some food (take a short rest), maybe buy some more potions. Laladak can bring that suit of armor and either try to sell it or see how much it would cost to make it fit him.
You are welcome to go to St. Cuthbert's to get healing also (to time consuming for every encounter, but as a whole the party could use it now.)
Come back down in a few hours.
I've also reconsidered leveling and have decided that you can level on a short or long rest. So if you take a short rest those of you who can level would be able to.
Laladak needs the short rest otherwise you got a fighter with 4hp down here. I suggest we go back into town and check out how to make that plate armor fit me. Thoughts?

Alben's firebolt misses the spider.

You each receive 57 XP.
Alben will walk over to shadow and cut him free of the webbing, and check on him.
Shadow is still unconscious and not really moving

While digging in his pack looking for the healing potion, Tyris sees the vial of antitoxin, he isn't sure if it will work or not.
Tyris gives Shadow the healing potion, Shadow regains 7 HP and is awake, but he can't move or speak.

Shadow make a Con save DC 13 with advantage, if you succeed you will be able to talk and move clumsy in 5 minutes and be back to normal in 10 minutes

ooc: wasn't there another cocooned corpse as well? if Yes, Oreus tries to free him/her
Oreus cuts down the other cocooned body, and opening up the cocoon he sees the corpse of a skulk, it's fluids all drained away.
About the time Oreus finishing revealing the shriveled skulk corpse Shadow is able to speak and asks groggily “what happened, where I?”

Do you really want to spend sn hour here?

"It would probably be a good idea to head back for a bit, visit the healers and get a few more potions"
It’s decided then, we should head out for now. Maybe those at the church can give us info about the second city our new elf friends have mentioned
