RL would also like to source a golden acorn worth 200 sp(gp in dndbeyond) as a spell item if at all possible in town. He will ask the party members for help on this since he is not used to dealing with merchants and might get ripped off.
Longshanks says "Oh is this for a spell, like? I acquire some gilded acorns for the druids here, get them a few a year, have a contact in Fallcrest who makes them for them. They're acorns with a thin coating of gold. I don't keep them on me if I'm not contracted to get them because they are valuable and occasionally I get robbed. But I can get you one, but might take some time unless you can magic me to Fallcrest and back. No? Otherwise maybe you can borrow one from the druids here and pay me the money and I'll drop one off to the druids on my return trip. How does that sound?"
If you put that to the druids they will meet with you and Longshanks and the agreement can be reached. 200sp for the gilded acorn.
Thank you for the information, at present I dont have enough money. Would this still be available in a few weeks once I put the money together?

"One thing we share," says Leaflock, "is faith. Not just faith in nature, but faith in each other. I give you my gilded acorn, knowing that you will pay Longshanks here when you can and he will give me a replacement." He hands RL his gilded acorn with a warm smile.
Longshanks grunts and nods to you both and moves off. Faith or not, all he knows is he isn't getting paid yet.
Grimbald prepares a back pack of supplies for a trip to Harken to hopefully bring old Kellar back. "Rest up Augustin, take care of yourself and we will get that target off your back somehow. Do you know where Old Kellar would be holed up in Harken? Esa, do you have a 'Locate old Kellar' spell handy ? So is anyone coming with me?"

RL is keen to get out of the town and attempt to rescue the old dwarf.
Augustin spends some time drawing a map of Harken Village. He tells everyone the main buildings.
The Silver Nail - tavern and taphouse. Should be a safe place to visit.
Harken Keep. Now called Iron Keep by the Iron Circle troops occupying it.
Cliffside Brewery. Run by three dwarves who are friends with Kathrid in Albridge. Should be a safe house.
Old Kellar's house.
Vine and Sunrise's house (shifter bowyer/fletchers currently living on Gravelstoke Estate).
Tower of Green Flame. Deserted mage's tower.
Harkenwold Trading Station. Run by Rennis, the major mercantile outlet in Harken. Augustin does not know Rennis well and would not call this a safe house.
House of Faith. Contains shrines to various gods and is maintained by Sister Sondal, a middle aged woman unlikely to be sympathetic to the Iron Circle.
Nonnie's Place. Harken's only inn.
DM Note: where it says "To Darken" that should say "To Dardun".
After hearing that the Iron Circle will be looking for the likes of the party, Grimbal leaves most of his martial weapons behind, shortsword, warhammer and mace. He'll keep hand axes and hand cross bows. He will head out and hunt a couple of rabbits and hang them from his belt. He will leave most of his coin, but enough for a few ales. Grimbald suggests they approach from the woods, and scope old Kellar's house. if they get confronted, he will appears as a hunter.

After a few days everyone except Augustin decided it was time to get Old Kellar. They left in the middle of the night and slowly made their way to Harken by the light of a half-moon glimpsed occasionally through the clouds.
They had done some information gathering from the scouts who had been observing Harken and found out the following:
People come and go from Harken, but there are checkpoints on the roads. They don't let anyone heavily armed and armoured go through. Individual weapons are ok, but they appear to be on the lookout for any groups.
Now that Nazin is gone, there is a lack of discipline in the troops and they are even more likely to rob, beat, or harass people.
There are less Iron Circle troops. Most of the time they stay holed up in Harken Castle, only patrols and checkpoint guards come out, and in the evening some Iron Circle troops will come to the taverns.
They followed the road to Harken, then when they could see the light of the checkpoint guards' fire, they left the road and circled around the woods close the the village. They made their way through the light woods as the dark skies turned grey with the coming dawn. They emerged from the woods close to Old Kellar's house. Other than a few chickens wandering about and crows starting to caw, there seems to be little movement. But you know it won't be long until the farmers are up and about.
RL will summon the wild companion owl familiar to go and look around the hut to ensure there is nothing around. In particular looking for tracks going to and from the doors to see if there has been a lot of people going in and out recently. If it looks clear then he will send the owl to look into the windows. As long as it is within 100ft of RL he will look through the owls eyes but if it goes out of that range the owl will go and return to provide information.
Yep. The owl flies down the chimney, getting around the zigzag bit. The fire is out, having gone out in the night. The owl can hear Old Kellar's snores. The house only has three rooms, one room is closed, the kitchen area and Old Kellar's bedroom are open. The owl flies into his bedroom and alights on his bedhead, looking down at the ancient dwarf who is sleeping noisily. The owl notes Old Kellar appears to have sustained some damage. His eye is bruised and blackened and has some cuts on one cheek.
RL will let the rest of the party know that old kellar is found and appears to be ok and alone. Can the owl search around the hut for any traps or things that might alert someone to the hut being entered
The owl notes some metal tools are placed up against the front door, which will hit the floor if the door is opened, making lots of noise.
this will also be passed along to the group. The owl will leave and make a sweep over the town before its too light staying back a way from the keep but trying to get an impression of how many iron circle are in the town and to see if there is anyone sneaking around the village at this time.
The owl notes there are farmers up and about, and movement in other buildings. There are no Iron Circle troops out at this hour. There is movement on the walls of Harken Keep. There is one figure in a grey cloak moving towards Old Kellar's house.
RL will pass this information on to the party about the grey cloak coming this way and agree with Esa that she should remove the traps while the rest of the party set up to either protect the door or get into the hut before the grey cloak gets here.
RL's owl will keep an eye on the grey cloak while they approach.

Also Augustin's house is near Old Kellar's house. It should be empty. But might not be.

8th day of Latesummer (last month of summer)

The windows all have their shutters closed. It doesn't look as though a lot of people have been going to Old Kellar's house.
Can the owl fit down the chimney to go into the hut?

Esa offers to go in and dismantle the noise alarm ahead of the party if need be

Grimbald will get as close to the door, without being out in the open. If the grey cloak is aggressive Grimbald will act.
