"Can Esa do that 'Dispel Magic thing...Maybe we shouldnt stand inside just in case" suggests Grimbald
Esa gives Grimbald an irritated look. "I've already explained that's a bad idea. Oh wait, maybe I only explained it to Rustling Leaves. Anyway if we're dealing with chronurgy then a dispel magic could be the worst thing I could do right now. We don't know what is causing the tower to behave the way it is, and it might only be the magic that is stopping things being worse. Chronurgy is fickle and unpredictable, and magic goes wrong easily. Even the arch-fey don't mess around with it." Then she cocked her head and looked upwards as if recalling some stories. Then added "usually."
She seemed to brighten, her irritated mood departing as quickly as it had come. "I am fascinated by all of this. I can't wait for tonight!" In mid-air she clapped her hands and did a spin.

RL whispers to Augustin and Vakiel, Esa can be a bit scary when she gets on a roll like that.
While we are waiting to go in RL would like to Ritually cast Speak with Animals and approach Augustin's Dire Wolf. RL will bow a bit self consciously since that seems to be something do to humanoids only.
'Hello great hunter, welcome to our pack. Do you have a name that we can call you? Do your best to keep our friend safe please'.
The beast turns and looks at RL as it is addressed directly. He turns and looks at Augustin before receiving a slight nod, as if to acknowledge its independence in responding.
The beast turns back to RL and bark a few times. RL is able to understand.
"Others have called me Fael." It moves closer to RL and begins to sniff them, before moving to each other member of the party.
"This pack is slow, and loud. Much like all those who walk on two legs."
"You would likely perish by yourselves if you found yourself alone in the woods."
"However, together you are strong. Where one is weak the others are strong."
Fael looks back at Augustin. "He is the slowest and loudest. But is desire to hunt is strong. I will teach him."
Fael's green eyes turn back towards RL. "What is strong within you?"
Vakiel notices that Fael's eyes are very similar to that of Augustin when he was under "control person spell".

RL grins at Fael. 'I can tell I have spent too much time with these urban dwellers if you cant smell the forest on me, and Grimbald (RL will nod his head towards Grimbald). My home is the deep forest, well away from the smelly noisy ones. Any time you want to go for a real run and hunt let me know, soon I will be able to be of size with you but not quiet yet.' RL will wildshape into a wolf and race around the tower dodging and weaving among the party and Fael and anything else.
Fael chases around RL for a bit, but finds himself ultimately clumsy inside knocking over tables and large paws skidding on the ground. He growls as RL gets away and just eyeballs him angrily from the corner.

RL approaches Fael tail in the air, head held high, tongue hanging out panting gently and even though RL only comes up to Faels shoulder, gives him a friendly shoulder bump as if to say better luck next time.
The party make their way up the hill to the tower at night. It is dark, and there is no moon and it is raining - of course it is raining. The only light comes from the tower up ahead. The wizard's tower is now active, as it is once a month on a moonless night.
As the party draws near they see the shutters are all closed on the square tower, but flickering light leaks around the edges of each shutter. The large front doors are closed, but ajar as if someone has gone through them recently. They move slightly in the wind. The tower looks newer, cleaner. The windows on the ground floor are shuttered and barred.
Grimbald opens the door and leaps back like a nervous squirrel.
This ground floor room is different from when you last saw it - cleaner. There are two whole statues here, paintings on the walls, and three bodies on the floor. The bodies look withered and dessicated. The stairs to the next level are at the back wall. The room is lit, but no light source is visible.

RL will summon a wild companion owl to fly ino the room, do a circle and fly up to peek at the next level before coming back down.
The spirit owl flies through the room, from outside it seems the owl is flying slowly, although the owl's experience is that everything is normal. It observes that the shelves are empty, but things likely were there recently, judging by the clean spaces. The owl flies up the stairs to what seems to be a kitchen and meals area. Four dead people are here, sitting around a table, there are many items of value on the table, likely the missing art objects from downstairs, as well as some coins. There are stairs up to the next level.

Augustin laughs out loud as he feels Fael's thoughts pressing against his mind.
A thought bounces back Fael. "Show him"
Fael takes off after RL snapping at its heels.
RL will use athletics to dodge around obstacles to stay ahead of Fael even though Fael is faster.8
Fael athletics: 4

1st day of Redleaf (second month of Autumn)
The party make their way up the hill to the tower at night. It is dark, and there is no moon and it is raining - of course it is raining. The only light comes from the tower up ahead. The wizard's tower is now active, as it is once a month on a moonless night.

RL will ritually cast detect magic once the party is within 30ft of the door of the tower
Augustin looks around, wondering what the plan is. He points at himself and at the door, asking the group if he should lead the way.
Fael is going to walk (stealthy laps) around the exterior and report back what he sees, hears and smells: Stealth 8 Perception 21
Are we going to knock or just walk in?
Fael doesn't like the tower, it feels wrong to his senses, there are odd smells coming from the windows, including chemical smells from above.
RL's detect magic reveals transmutation magic coming from the building itself.

RL will relay this info to the party. Shall we go up?
