The owl heads north first as instructed, at about the 50ft mark there is a passageway heading into a room to the left. The owl's darkvision detects a strange creature floating in the air in the room and a body on the floor further up the passage.
The owl returns as instructed and then heads down the east passage. It detects a green slime on the roof above the entrance, which drops as soon as the owl flies underneath.
In the room to the east (right), the owl easily dodges the green slime dropping on it from the ceiling. It does a lap of the room, and RL sees a room similar in shape to the one to the left (west). The crates and wooden boxes here are pushed up against the wall and corroded and degraded that they will likely crumble to dust with a touch. As the owl wheels to head out the room it goes black, and RL is jerked back into his own vision. The shifter knows the owl has been returned to the spirit world.
Meanwhile Grimbald has gone down the tunnel to the west on his own and finds the puddle of green slime. He tentatively touches the torch to it, which sizzles and turns into cooked slime. Where a small spot of slime got onto the torch it ate away rapidly at the wood before being consumed by fire. Grimbald keeps the torch on the slime, moving the flame around in it until it is all cooked and destroyed.
The rest of the party are with RL in the octagonal room.
Augustin is fairly aware that these slimey things move slowly, but isnt so sure how smart they are. He will move to position himself so that he can rush the one on the right.
When he is in place and has the support of the rest of the team he will Bonus Action Searing Smite

RL will stand in the middle looking left and right being un decided on which team mate to follow before deciding to follow Grimbald but only up to the initial left hand corner so he can hopefully keep Augustin in view while also keeping an eye on Grimbald.
Augustin charges heroically in to the slime unmoving on the floor and with a valiant yell of vengeance, sears it with his smite. It smokes and curdles and dies easily. Augustin looks on, satisfied. And checks his weapon. Luckily the fire based spell prevented any corrosive damage to it. Whew!
Augustin looks around but doesn't see much else of note. Was it the slime that killed the owl?
Looking around the room Augustin doesn't notice any more oozes, and so heads back to where the others are in the central octagonal room. As he does so he feels a sharp pain in his head as if someone has just delivered a blow.

The big one that crept along was see through, these little ones that drop from the roof are green.
