There is a half empty cask of lamp oil and two hooded lanterns. A wooden door at the back of the room is boarded up and has a mostly empty barrel of water pushed up against it.
"That leads to the Undercrofts," says Lars. "Kids are told never to go down there. Plenty of stories about people, usually curious and disobedient children going in there and never being heard from again. Probably not true, but we're all too scared to even look, even now."
The teen considers Grimbalds question and seems hopeful.
"Maybe. I didn't think of that. We can look."
"Most villages in Harkenwold, and probably all across the Nentir Vale, are situated on top of older, ruined settlements," says Augustin. "The new houses commonly use the old underground areas as cellars and basements, but usually block off joining areas. No one likes having a back door into their homes that they can't monitor."

do we just burn the goblins out of that house with a few flasks of oil and the half barrel of lamp oil?
did we take a short rest?
I think it might be worth exploring the undercroft in case we can find a basement entrance to surpise the goblins or load all the flamable stuff down there and burn them out
The goblins might have prisoners in the building. These buildings are generations old, there's memories in the walls. I think we only burn things down as a last resort. Worth exploring\]]]]]]]uuuu <---- cat walking across keyboard} the undercroft. IF the goblins have discovered them they could pop up anywhere, or there could be more people hiding out.
No need to burn someone's house down, they may wish to return someday. Do we check the undercroft now? It sounds like there is potentially a lot underground... I don't feel like it'll be a 'quick look' thing - but i could be wrong.
The undercroft could be lengthy. find the entrances, have a quick look, but dont delve too deep. then board it up to cover our tails. In complete dark, I can make myself invisible to goblins and others that rely on dark vision.

Stryke could come with Grimbald in a short exploration as a spider, giant spider or giant squirrel and be able to see in the dark. How would Grimbald feel about a spider sitting on his shoulder?
Esa likes these plans, but agrees we shouldn't destroy the building if it can be avoided. She asks if the spider wants to peek under the door before we bust it open?

will do, Stryke the spider will go through any small gap in the door to see what is on the other side, passive perception 15, dark vision 30ft. perception9
Stryke got a null result with his detect disease and poison ritual.
Stryke as a spider (with a tiny eye patch across one of his eight eyes) sees an empty room beyond about 25ft square and a dark entrance way in the opposite wall that you think might be stairs going down.
Dm's Note: Perception in darkness and dim light is always with disadvantage, even with darkvision. We'll keep those rolls but remember moving forward.

all my perception roles are at disadvantage at the moment anyway, but will remember that
The goblin jagged curved blade damaged Augustin's hamstring.
This is the effect:
Your speed on foot is reduced by 5 feet. You must make a DC 10 Dexterity saving throw after using the Dash action. If you fail the save, you fall prone. Magic such as the regenerate spell can cure your hamstring tendons.

how far away across the square is the other building can we get sniper cover from this side while some of us storm across the square?
Just for kicks while we are waiting Stryke will ritually cast Detect Poison and Disease. 30ft range from caster, its up for 10 minutes
No too far.
You are in the building in the bottom left with the X and the goblins are in the main building with the flag.

Let's see if the undercroft goes in the direction of the main building with the goblins. a spider would be sneakiest
sounds like a plan
[Tooltip Not Found] into a spider, then crawl up onto Grimbald

Which reminds me, Augustin was knocked down to zero hit points, so I get to roll on the injury table for him. He's racking up the injuries.

Augustin just a walking bag of injuries at this point
