"Posse carries a bit of rough and tumble in its connotation, which I suppose we are. I was leaning more towards the kindness of strangers, hence beneficence. This kind of behavior would not go over well in New Capenna. You lot would have been fleeced and grifted thrice over before making it twenty paces. Then again, your skills are far more useful than my jabbering right now. If we had anything magical or technical or craftable, I'm likely to be a bit more useful. And my armor certainly isn't helping us avoid attention. I didn't do much sneaky work for the Riveteers."Noggs speaks quickly, but keeps his voice low. He grins through the moonlit dark over at Beshlog.
"Hmm." Djoven, lacking the context for Noggs' words, busies himself by looking at the river. Could it be used for easier travel along its shores, perhaps leading to civilization? If this were a foreign world... alien though that idea might be, perhaps finding civilization of any kind, even a nest of Silumgar in the swamps of the lowlands to which all waters flow, might be prudent. With a small shock, he realizes that he feels some embarrassment over his impulse to pursue the wounded wolf-thing. Yet, there is also the disappointment of a hunt unfulfilled to be dealt with. He would hunt later, he reconciles internally, eyes up and seeking a path. (skill check?)
"Others have passed this way before us, not long ago!" exclaims Djoven. "Would we camp here when there might be better safety from these woods just ahead?"
”We move. Hopefully we can find someone who is better equipped to deal with the dangers of this world. Worst case scenario is just more things trying to kill us.”
You all follow the footprint trail for what feels like several hours. After that time, you see the footprints heading toward what seems to be a small town.
Noggs suddenly stops short and says, "Wait a tic. If these folks have to deal with monsters on the regular, what will they think of a bunch of weird travelers suddenly coming out the dark? I can't imagine I'm a calming sight to superstitious folks in a world haunted by monsters, to say nothing of the rest of you."
"That's probably a good idea,"the giant says with a nod. "Since I'm the tallest here I can go ahead and hold the torch for us to make sure that it's seen from a distance."
Beshlog reaches into his pack and pulls out a torch and tinderbox. It takes him a couple tries, but after a few moments the sparks manage to ignite the torch. He holds it up and looks at the others.
"We ready to go meet the folks in the town?" he asks.

You all follow Beshlog toward the town. As you enter, you see that not a soul is outside. No people, no pets, no livestock, nothing. The town is too well kept to be abandoned for any large amount of time, but the residents of this town are nowhere to be found. The town seems to be mostly houses, but there a few standouts. The only two-story building seems to be a shop of some kind, and one of the other buildings appears to be some sort of tavern.
"... This cannot be natural." Djoven moves towards the two story building, assuming that the tallest structure must be the most important, and prepares to knock, heavily, on the solid door. "Perhaps those of this town are prone to hibernate" he mutters under his breath.
A’ro just nods “I think expecting normal might be too much. How about we get into one of these buildings and lay down for the night. At least it’ll provide protection of some sort.”
"Better than nothing, I suppose ... Unless these houses just have more werewolves in 'em." Noggs grins widely, then notices no one really laughing. "Eh, nevermind. Allow me, good sirrah." He steps up next to Djoven and lets his gauntleted fist fall heavy on the door in three quick taps. Under his breath he mutters, "Room service."
"Well... if everyone here is a werewolf, they'll probably be running around in the woods until sunrise," Beshlog says. "So yeah, let's get inside before anything crazy happens."

Noggs, as you look up at the moon, something definitely seems magical, but you can't tell what it is.
Everyone, it isn't long before you you reach the source of the sound, and thankfully, it is a river.

A’ro just looks at them “We can rest here and maybe make a raft in the morning to float on. If that sounds good to you all.”

Djoven, you look around and while you do not see a path in the traditional sense, you see a trail of footprints traveling along the river.
(for future reference, that would either be perception or survival (your choice), but your passive was good enough in this case)
"Sounds like a solid plan to me," Beshlog says to A'ro. "Anyone bring snacks?"

“If we come in calmly and make our intentions known, they are unlikely to attack. Maybe light a torch or two so we can be seen.”

"Let the light guide us, then - lead on!"
Beshlog lifts the torch and leads the way towards the town.
