Faith ties a piece of cloth over his wound, soaked in a fortified wine.
“I’m fine to keep moving,” he says. He casts an eye around at the pleasant pastoral scene, mistrusting. “I don’t fancy encountering another of those beats.”
With a click of his fingers, the eagle reappears and flies up again.
(( Faith's familiar can see much more from it's higher vantage point; the path under the archway snakes its way towards, then up the mountain, amid numerous boulders and rocky features... including what look like possible cave openings. It's in the mouth of one of them that he just barely manages to spot a tuft of dust before it dissipated in the wind, as if someone medium-sized had just scuttled into the opening. ))
Locke looked towards the other stone pillar; the statue atop remained motionless. Yet that fact did little to comfort him. "I... don't know that there will be anything to find, but feel free to search if you like." He really didn't think gargoyles kept loot... but then again, loot was loot, and he would be quite glad to be proven wrong.
"You two can go up ahead if you like," he said to the others. "I'll keep a watch on that other 'statue' if Drex wants to check the area. Shouldn't take more than a minute, right?"
(( Drex can make a Perception Check for a quick one-round once-over of the corpse, an Investigation check for a one-minute scan of the surrounding area, or both. The others can join in, head forward, or wait with Locke. (Or attempt some fourth option, if desired.) ))
Drex says, "Just give me a couple minutes here and I'll be ready or go ahead without me and I'll catch up."

Faith just nods, more focused on gently peeling away the cloth wrap from his neck. The bleeding has stopped and it’s clear that the gash is less deep than he had first feared.
With a cry, Faith’s eagle swoops down and lands on his shoulder. The shoulder on the side which Faith has been cut. He hisses in pain from between gritted teeth while the Eagle whispers what it has learnt to him.
“Path winds up the hill. Caves. Something, don’t know what, moved into the caves at speed. That’s all I’ve got.”
Drex says, "That looks bad. Here take this potion of healing my new friend. Hopefully the general store in town will have some more I can purchase before my next adventure.
You say there is something up there?
We'll head up there to see what's going on just after I finish here.

(( Drex finds that the gargoyle has nothing on him. No weapons, no armor, no clothing, belt, pouch or tools of any kind. The surrounding area, up to the archway, is also barren save for the numerous rocks everywhere--and none of them even seem to be useful as ore, sadly. ))
"I'm fine," replied Locke, still staring at the second statue. "If you're done, I say we get moving... I really don't like the look of this thing. Even if it really is just a statue, after fighting an actual gargoyle, I'm no longer a fan of highly-accurate depictions."
With that, the merchant started walking towards the archway.

(( Encounter 3 ))
The party continues down the path under the archway, toward the mountain before them. The twisting road quickly begins to incline, and the wind seems to pick up a bit as you pass boulders, rocks, and within minutes, what looks to be the occasional cave-like entrance. Everyone is alert after Faith's warning, but as you approach a bend that goes behind a rocky outcrop, you all see a scene that had just been shielded from the familiar's vantage point: pressed right up to the outcrop are a few small, fairly decent tents laid in a row, with the ashes of a campfire at the end of the tents.
The abrupt addition to the landscape is the slightest of distractions on its own; but then a loud, creepy, echoing laugh comes from behind the party, sounding as if it might be from one of the cave entrances. That's all it takes for half the party to not notice the arrows coming at them until they whiz by your faces.
(( Roll Initiative! ))
(( Gordon and Locke were perceptive enough to be unsurprised by the attack; Drex and Faith will not get to act until the second round of combat. Locke's Initiative:23, Assailants' Initiative:15 ))
Gordon, startled by the laugh, immediately goes on high alert.
Initiative: 18

(( Locke and Gordon see two goblin heads peeking out from behind a boulder beside the road, about 50 feet ahead of the party; meanwhile, the laughter behind the party, still out of sight, is no longer echoing, and seems to be coming closer. The two goblins have 3/4 cover. ))
Focusing his ki, the merchant-monk runs, then dashes towards the boulder, rounding behind it to squarely face the goblins, before pivoting into a roundhouse kick right toward the head of the first assailant.
MOVE: 40 feet towards the boulder BONUS: Spend 1 ki to use Step of the Wind, and Dash the remaining distance ACTION: Attack the first goblin with an unarmed strike * Roundhouse Kick - Attack: 14, Mundane Bludgeoning Damage: 8 (plus 2 extra on crit)
Locke's kick lands solid, striking the goblin right on the neck; there is a loud crack as the diminutive figure is knocked head-over-heels several feet to the left, landing in a crumpled, lifeless pile beside the boulder. After a couple seconds, the bow he was holding lands on the ground beside him.

Gordon runs as close as he can, getting to 20 ft. away and throwing two swords. He also casts jump on himself, using his ring.
