"I think I may have just annointed myself with some less than holy water... ," Tarysaa muttered as she appraised this perfectly polite and polished person.
Elky doesn't seem terribly shaken by either Nim's reaction or Tarysaa's. He looks at both of you, waiting for you to finish talking, then, instead of replying to Nim or suggesting something to Tarysaa, he asks: "Surely you gentlemen have been invited, haven't you? Do you remember the password you will have to tell the yellow flags keeper?"
But then Clas comes and asks for ale and the young halfling butler turns to him: "I'm afraid we might not have ale, but I'll have the servants check right now!" he starts ascending the same stairs you came from. Clas follows him. (OOC: the others? Back up with Clas and Elky? Or do you prefer to do something else?)
Nim’s eyes widen as he glances at each of his party is turn questioningly. He then looks back at Elly and asks.
”I don’t suppose you’d be able to remind us of the password little one? I’m afraid we’ve been a bit too busy to remember it. I could play you a song in return!”
(OOC: persuasion with advantage from expending my inspiration 15.)
Since Elky is accompanying Clas up the stairs, Nim, to talk to him (at least for now), follows.
The young halfling butler smiles when addressing him: "Oh, don't worry, there is a clue, to help guests who have a memory lapse... but the most important thing is: were you invited or not?"
Unless someone else wishes to step in, Tarysaa can give 'Elky' their entire adventure up until now... leaving out details which would paint a less than stellar picture of our goals.
Emphasizing the 250 year 'history' that the 'ground level' has had -- while trying to recall the histories she had read in university. And how, once we had found 'the item' we would be reporting back to the Harpell family in Longsaddle concerning the Zhentarium and this odd burrow.
Tarysaa will show Elky the sketches of the throne and the marble arch... trying to show how they are 'seekers of knowledge' and not grave robbers.
Ilwythe feels his patron deity approving of his actions, and with that a burst of power courses through him.

Elky continues to wait, imperturbable, for the arrival of... someone, to the point that he doesn't answer Ardana, when she points out the long time that has passed and asks him questions.
Clas goes so far as to suggest that the poor young halfling butler is an illusion... (OOC: ...and he can roll Investigation to try to test his hypothesis - the others can roll too, if they have the same suspicion as Clas).
Tarysaa, with her rational studious mind, then tries to tell Elky the latest events in order... but, after a few minutes of narration, as suddenly as he appeared, the young halfling butler disappears! You are alone again.
Hahahaha! Clas starts to walk to the end of the hallway. Magic! Hahahaha! Perhaps the clue is up here, or perhaps there is no yellow guard at all and no password! Hahahaha! Clas holds the torch out and makes an inspection of the end of the hallway.
Perception 6 Investigation 5
Clas returns to the top of the staircase ready to descend again. A smile on his face. Best not to believe a lie! Hahahaha!

Never underestimate the power of a finely crafted barrel, my friend! It is both a vessel of strength and a symbol of resilience.
Clas finds out that the east wall, the one that makes that branch a dead end, is the same wall that puzzled Tarysaa and Daisy so much before... only, you are on the other side, now.
Hahahaha! This is a place of lies and illusions. We’ll likely get separated at some point. We might wish to take precautions before putting our heads under the axe! Hahahaha!

Hahahaha! Clas laughs holding a new lit torch from his pack. Ale! He booms. Hahahaha! He then nudges Ardana to have the party follow the boy.

”Children never turn down my offer for a song! There’s something deeply disturbing about this kid, I don’t trust him!”
Elky's Perception: 11
Ardana is really confused. She follows Clas and Nim, though, not wanting to have party members leave her sight.
Elky, unaware of Nim's suspicions, reaches the upper level, the ones you just came down from, and calls out: "Servants of the house, to me please!"
After that, trustingly, he waits...
Nobody answers or comes, a minute passes, but Elky, patiently, still waits...
(OOC: Do you also wait? If so, about how long you are going to wait? Or do you want to do or tell something?)
"Elky, the upper level here has been abandoned for 250 years. What has happened down below that time has passed differently?"
Hahahaha! I guess we’re fashionably late! Hahahaha!
Have we triggered an illusion, Nim? Or perhaps this Harpell is an elf, Tarysaa?
