As the companions regard the screen they can see the top floor that they, and they assume the Dwendalians entered by....the large main doors are slightly ajar and snow is beginning to build up at the door, though melting closer to the shaft.
"Ah, look. The door appears to be open. But again, do we trust what these screens show us. It is clever thought to use Amber, Dev", Normont says and whispers to Amber in Gnomish. Just before she nods and flies away up towards the front door, Normont touches her and helps her focus.
Amber will intend to fly in three circles small circles in front of the open door, before briefly heading out to make sure the coast is clear. She will then head back to Normont. During her travels, except when she by the front for, she will attempt to not be seen.
After she is gone, Normont points to the screen, "Let's see what the screen shows".
As the companions watch the screen they can watch Amber ascend, once Normont points her out, and she indeed flies safely up to the doors completes her circuits and heads back down....
Is there any way to ascertain what kind of library this is, such as a catalog or directory? A library is a collection of books, or other discrete media (for lack of a better fantasy-themed word). We have seen no books. Is it entirely digital (whatever that is ;)? Or do discreet physical parts correspond to discrete data? Or is it magical?
Dev is trying to memorize everything he sees, for future display via illusion, but at minimum, if there is a card catalog or other directory he could peruse, wouldn’t the masters of knowledge find that directory — in and of itself — of great interest?
In other words, if we have to blow the joint, can any portable part of the whole be carefully removed from said blowing and preserved in an adventurer’s pack? Lokilia’s thinking straight by picking up loose crystals … is there any loose wiring that Dev could take? A small, complete screen?
"I say we just set this place to destruct and get out while we can," Lokilia reiterates. "The way is clear, so we should go. I suppose though you have to be here to make all these special functions work. It would be nice if we could wait until we are above and use one of those things up there to set off everything."

( From Normonts experiments up above it seems that the 'library' is entirely contained within the structure itself and accessed through the crystals, cables and workstations....Dev tends to think of things in a musical fashion so the crystals/cables/displays are instruments.....the notes are held somewhere he does not know but when they are ' listened to' through the ' instruments' they can create any sort of song imaginable...
Normont found a directory when he first opened a display Dev could attempt to do so on one of the side screens at the console, one not occupied with the major functions Normont is dealing with. Perhaps information could be recorded on a crystal or in some other manner.....he'd need to access the normal Library directory first. He's not sure how but he's fairly sure the crystals do not contain any of the 'books' and are more related to functional aspects like powering displays and ' directing' other systems.)
If Dev activates a smaller screen and copies what Normont did to shift it from the Draconic text he sees the screen changes to a form of Common...there are much fewer options on the screen and the text is bigger and more defined.
Juvenile Pedagogic Mode:- Basic Principles of Function- Learn, Test, Other.
"I have to agree, Lokilia. We should gather what we can easily lay our hands on and move, we have no idea when the Dwendalions will be back", Normont says concerned.
When Amber returns, he directs her to return upstairs and gather any crystals she finds on the way up as well, but not to stop for more than a moment at a time. Once upstairs, she should keep watch at the door, and fire a blast if anyone approaches, one that can will be seen on camera but would not expose her. She dutifully does as asked.
"Are we ready for me to purge the data? I assume that means all the crystal that are connected will be purged. Do we want to try and collect some before that happens?", he asks.
Quinn shakes his head, "I believe we collect what we can, I don't understand it but it must be important if it is so well protected. can we just take the crystals?"
Dev presses the buttons for "Juvenile Pedagogic Mode: Other"
"Normont, go ahead and turn up the heat. I'll follow you up. I'm... heat doesn't really bother me." The tiefling's brick-red complexion seems to underline the point. "And I want to look at this a little longer. Maybe there's some way of saving some of the library and bringing it with us back to Whitestone?"

Dev found the screen filled with a series of options ranging from Lesson Plans, Remedial Aids, Hard Copies and a variety of Legal phrases that made little sense.
Hunh. What does “hard copy” mean? He presses the button.
The screen erupts into a series of lists of cascading topics divided initially into Sciences/Humanities and from there further down into other sub-branches like specific sciences then specific subjects then studies/practices/observations..........Dev is unsure but there is also a tab indicating that hard copies can be made by opening Options while reading the subject on screen through the normal Learn and Test modes.
As to what a hard copy is.....is somewhat puzzling.
( Give Dev a few seconds and he can pretty much pull up any subject about Exandria of a thousand or so years ago. Feel free to go wild.)
Dev is overwhelmed. This is far too much to take in and rush through. But isn’t there something that could be preserved?? All those people lived and loved and had their fears and everything, like us. But what were they like?
He pecks the search screen until it reads “famous songs lyrics.” Full of self-doubt, he awaits the result, and will try to make hard copies whatever those are, following the “options” instructions.
The threat that the Dwendalians left with Dev continues to eat at the young bard, despite his curiosity.
Normont is too intrigued by how many responses came up when prompted with artifice at first, and it takes him a moment to realise Dev has spoken to him.
"What? Oh, yes. We really should be quick. Maybe just a minute to...", he drifts off as he types in some sub search terms, automated defender battle construct.
"It seems that whatever this is," Lokilia waves her hands around at the screens both Dev and Normont are now working at. "It means nothing if we don't get out of here! Take what you have now and let's be done with it."

Amber Stealth (with Guidance): 15+4+3=22
Amber Perception: 15+4=19

Great questions that I have been thinking he same things

“I need to purge the data before turning up the heat”, Normont replies to Dev. “We have some time I think, so let’s stick together”.
He looks across at what Dev has found, intrigued.
In fact, he cannot help but look about for another screen to search up Artifice.
If they don’t all want to rush out, why not make the most of this opportunity.
(OOC: Have we had enough of a breather to get a short rest? Also, can Normont deduce what hard copy means? Can he roll for it maybe?)
( Normonts artificer brain can likely puzzle it out given some time.)
( The word 'Artifice' is giving over 15 million responses......)
