“Parents curfew. Kids belong with parents. Make happy in long run. Where are they?” Siszhu tries again, annoyed he’s talking to a talking hippo, seeing no irony in his annoyance at all.
"Good work Mr. Krisleth." Myles says with a small smile as the bald elf opens a new avenue of investigation for the team, then turning to the winged tiefling conversing the peculiar hippopotamus. "Is it sharing any useful information would you say or should we proceed?"
"Hi, Bubby! I'm Necyra!" she says in hippoese. "I'm super glad to meet you! You look hungry...can I get you anything to eat or drink? It must be lonely, hiding inside that box, waiting for the kiddos to arrive. You wanna join us as we meet with Happy Jack?"
Persuasion: 10
(Sorry! I didn't really react to this.)
The werehippo cocks his head a bit, his ears perk up as the tiefling chats with him happily. When asked if it wants food or drink, he nods. When Necyra asks if he wants to join, she can almost hear the wheels turn as he considers, but then shakes his head. "Like box."
Necyra laughs at Neph and friendly punches him in the shoulder, quietly jesting "...show-off!" before turning back to the hippo. She pulls two days worth of rations out of her pack, calls out to the hippo in hippoese "here you go, love!" and tosses them in the air to the hippo, hoping he'll snatch them out of the air and happily gulp them down.
OOC: Since the hippo is talking to Siszhu, does it speak broken common?
After feeding Mr. Hungry Hungry Hippo, she addresses Myles "Not really. His name is Bubby, and he appears to be a greeter for families and kiddos who are waiting in line. He says that Happy Jack is inside somewhere, along with the kids, but that's all he knows."
Finally, she feels a little lightheaded as the joint finally takes effect, as she addresses the entire room: "All righty, ya'll...let's move on out. Time's a wasting! Baldy managed to work his way into the employee entrance, so let's head there first. Besides, anyone have any good munchies on them? I'm definitely having a snack-attack right now..."
The investigator nods in agreement with Necyra, and after giving the hippopotamus a last scrutinizing look he follows over to the Employees Only door, ready to follow the others.
Siszhu snatches a hand out to intercept one of the rations Necyra tosses the hippo (Dex check? 7) but misses. Seeing the food fly past him and to the ridiculous Hippo-In-A-Box, Siszhu growls and considers punching them in the face again. For the first time. Since the first one missed…
But instead Siszhu just “p’shaw!”s the hippo and kind of paws dismissively at them as Siszhu wanders over to the rest of his crew. He wanted to punch the hippo in the face. Totally wanted to…
But he couldn’t let the others see him miss the hippo twice…
Nephvir opens the door that he unlocked to an empty corridor. It is dark down this corridor, no lights illuminating the space. There are also no circus decorations in the area as this is obviously a back of the house location.
There are four doors on both the north and south sides of the corridor with a ninth door at the end. Those who have dark vision can also see that a corridor t's into this one halfway down the north side. It is quiet.
Siszhu sniffs the air then shrugs. "Seems safe," he hisses and then starts walking forward using his 10' pole to poke at the floor every couple of steps to make sure there are not hidden pits full of spikes or gelatinous cu... err, wait. Different edition. Nevermind. Siszhu heads down the corridor with a slight hunch forward ready for anything... At the first set of doors (North and South) Siszhu will try the North one first to see if it's unlocked, if so opening it without stepping in front of it. If locked he will try the Southern with the same bit of caution. If both are locked he'll look back over his shoulder and ask "Anyone have a key?"
Neph’s ears perk up, he picks his head up and lifts up his thieves’ tools, saying “One key coming right up, if you need it, baby. Door, chest… safe, whatever you need….” *wink* at Myles.
To'Kurr meanders around the hallway, bobbing to music only he can hear, but at the same time he keeps his eyes and ears open for any sounds or glimpses of movement.
Perception (6+4)=10 (so guess it's passive for now - 14)
As Siszhu opens the North door he finds a supply closet siting empty and unused, though scuff marks, shabby, banged up walls, and mysterious dried puddles or liquid trails indicate it may have once been used rather heavily.
To'Kurr doesn't notice anything as he heads down the corridor a bit, dark down the next corridor as well... (does he have dark vision?)
If nothing is jumping out, and there is nothing to punch in the face, Siszhu finds this door useless. Backing out of the supply closet to make room for Myles, Siszu will instead wander across the hall and try that door instead.
"Hrm, I think you missed something important here..."Myles says in a quite serious tone as he finishes his investigation of the first closet, taking out and handing over to Siszhu a bag that turns out to contain....about 1 pound of perfectly fine pepper. "...never know when this will be needed to spice things up right?" He adds with a wry smile before nodding to the massive Y uan-Ti to proceed, while he quickly investigates the next closet.
Siszhu has a bit of a sneezing fit as he instinctively took a huge sniff of the proffered bag before he allowed Myles to tell him what it was. You'd really think the big brute would know better what with the kinds of things To'Kurr is routinely prompting people to sniff...
(No To'Kurr does not have darkvision - if it gets a bit dark, he'll use Magical Tinkering and get one of the studs on the right shoulder and one on the left shoulder of his armor to glow with light - not a lot but it gives 5' of light in each direction then).
Not being completely unaware of the situation they're in, To'Kurr knows this is not a real funhouse. Children have gone missing. So he stays with the group, backing up Siszhu as he opens doorways.

To'Kurr takes a long puff on his pipe and does a little jig when the private personnel only door gets opened.
"Far out, man," To'Kurr says as he goes back to that door, ready for it to be opened.
Neph turns and looks at To’Kurr with a self satisfied look on his face and opens the Employees Only door, peeking inside.

Last to know and first to be blamed...
As a free action, can I regret my life choices?

"I believe Nephvir carries a master key." Myles says with an amused smile, although still wary of his surroundings.
Neph’s ears perk up, he picks his head up and lifts up his thieves’ tools, saying “One key coming right up, if you need it, baby. Door, chest… safe, whatever you need….” *wink* at Myles.

The investigator cautiously investigates the supply closet for any clues to what has happened in this weird place.

If nothing is jumping out, and there is nothing to punch in the face, Siszhu finds this door useless. Backing out of the supply closet to make room for Myles, Siszu will instead wander across the hall and try that door instead.
As Siszhu opens the first door on the south wall, he finds the exact same kind of storage closet.

Myles says in a quite serious tone as he finishes his investigation of the first closet, taking out and handing over to Siszhu a bag that turns out to contain....about 1 pound of perfectly fine pepper.
