Bryony, with Quinn's help, leads the party further south along the forest's edge.
The morning is still young when a small hawk swoops down from above and alights upon a dead branch overhead. It opens its mouth, but instead of a high-pitched hawk call, it speaks with Reidoth's voice.
"The dragon is mad, is searching," Reidoth's voice says. "Is heading south right now. Watch your skies, and be careful." Then the hawk takes off again, flapping heavily under the thin canopy before ascending high into the air.
Jurgen (and Draco) and Syzygy should still make their Stealth check.
Jurgen wakes and hurriedly checks for dragons. Seeing none, and knowing that Draco would have waned them, he breaths a sigh of relief and grabs something to eat. He packs quickly and is ready to hit the road, or should he say the path less traveled.
It is midmorning. You are in the deep wilderness, in a dry, sparsely-wooded area at the edge of the dense forest, perhaps 10 miles south of Thundertree. You are moving slowly, stealthily (group Stealth scores: 7, 23, 14, 15, 22), and surely (Survival 19) south, led by Bryony. You have just received a warning from a small hawk bearing Reidoth's voice, now gone. You see no threats around (or above) you, no life aside from occasional harmless game animals, abundant birds, and incessantly-buzzing insects.
Jurgen listens as Quinn proposes a solution that involves Draco. He looks sad but says "I would rather sacrifice Draco than my friends. Yes. Let's use Draco to lead the Dragon in another direction. What do you propose?" as they walk and discuss the plan.
"If it is necessary, you could send Draco in the opposite direction, deep into the forest. Perhaps it can carry pieces of our clothing so the dragon can catch our scent.
But...this is not my call. I'll leave it to you to decide. It's just something that came to mind."

“Not to throw a spanner at the plan, but what if we led the dragon to Cragmaw? This could be a good thing. We’d need to secure Gundren first. Then perhaps the dragon can deal with the goblins. Then we offer a castle as tribute. Or hopefully Venomfang will simply loose interest in us.” Syzygy seems unconvinced.
As you're having this conversation, Kimberley gets a glance of something large and green, passing high over the treetops to your east. She only sees it for a moment, but Kimberley immediately recognizes what she just spotted: Venomfang. Reidoth's hawk evidently only just made it to you ahead of the dragon.
You have only seconds to react. (I will roll a Perception check for the dragon as soon as enough of you tell me your reaction.) You each get one turn to move and act.
Quinn drops low and scrambles for cover. He removes his brown woolen hooded cloak, crouches low against a tree, preferably one with a dense canopy, and covers himself with his cloak.

Venomfang silently glides past, moving west over the party, then perhaps a half mile south, then east again over the forest before you lose sight of it.
The coast is clear. It is late morning, the weather pleasant. The birds begin to sing again.

Continue on? New actions? What's the plan?
Jurgen asks "What do we want to do if the dragon finds us? Do we scatter, do we fight, would you want me to go back with it if it was an option?"

Reidoth's warning sends chills down Quinn spine. He's live his life as a hunter, someones as a hunter of people, but he has never been hunted himself.
"Jurgen, I don't think there's any going back from what we've committed to. I fear negotiation or bargaining is off the table with this dragon."
He looks at Draco and he gets an idea.
"Would you sacrifice Draco to lead this dragon a stray and buy us some more time?
We can walk and talk, We have to get on the move."

Kimberley looked troubled, " Is Draco alive? I'm ok to lead the dragon away if you want...."
