Kragen casts Detect Magic and determines the cloak is enchanted, radiating Transmutation and Evocation Magic. Starker casts Identify on the cloak. It is Tzan’tar’s Cloak.
The Company exited the Deep Wave Mine following the fight with the Oni led ogres. A night of rest proved to be the cure for what ails ya’. Starker was rejuvenated, Cyrus hung over the next morning. At dawn The Company set out again to meet the challenge of the old dwarf mine. The Stonejaw brothers exhorted them on towards greatness. Swarms of shadows were faced down as well as a collection of Blights. The treasure of the ogres had likely been removed as none of it was present on return to the forge area.
A shadow dragon moved in to attack at the end of the fight with the Blights. Starker’s fireball illuminated the silhouette of the great, dark wyrm. It fell upon them with its necrotic breath, nearly sealing the doom of the heroes. The Company struck back with another fireball from Starker followed by a furious combo from Chadwick. Hoid then sprang (literally) to the attack with his greatsword. He unleashed a combination of blows starting with a thunderous smite and concluding with a critical blow. The fell drake was laid low at the end with The Company triumphant.
A well deserved rest was taken and they pressed on to explore the upper and lower levels. An entrance to the mines was found and taken. Exploring the tunnels led to an ambush by tiny beholder-kin with four eyestalks. These were nasty but eventually driven off.
Much debate occurred within The Company about whether use of the dragon’s skull as a helmet for Hoid would be feasible. The powers that be suggested that a horse-sized helmet would be impractical. Debate then turned to Gneuman creating a necklace from dragon teeth.
Starker used his Anatomist’s Tools to remove the minibeholders’ eyestalks. (If there are any of the bodies lying around.). He is preserving them in refined spirits of alcohol.
“Anyone need anything flensed or removed from a corpse while I am at it? If the skull is not an appropriate size, perhaps one of the lower vertebra could be fashioned into a helmet or chestpiece?”
The mine tunnels have main tunnels that are 20-30' feet wide and relatively smooth floored. The walls are rough and clearly have been dug directly from the mountain. Smaller side tunnels branch off from these main tunnels to follow seams of ore and occasionally gems. The air here is humid and the floors and ceiling have moisture visible upon them. You frequently scare some kind of small insect or rat as you progress through the mine. These run into cover in a fissure or crack in the wall or floor.
The fight with the gazers was not terribly challenging, yet they were able to land some blows on you. There is no air movement, until the great sound of a crashing wave is heard. Air move to and fro in the tunnels with this echoing through the mine.
The mines continue ahead for several hundred feet and then a major tunnel branch is seen to the right. The tunnel you are currently in continues ahead. There is no change in the appearance of the tunnels. Smoother floor in the main tunnel with rougher, small side tunnels branching off. (( These are not depicted on the map. Map scale is 20' per square )) The air remains damp with moisture on the ceiling, walls and floors. Small creatures run from your approach to hide in crevices and cracks in the stone. It is quiet and still with inky black darkness ahead of you and behind you.
The tunnels continue on ahead until you reach another branch point. To the left is a tunnel rising up in the mountain similar to the one you took to get down into the mines. The other leads off to the right.
Earlier post said Kragen would and that his pilot would be unavailable to drive due to alcohol impairment. Take the wheel and make it happen.
Kragen casts Detect Magic on the Cloak and any other sundries prior to evening prayers and sleep.

Did the long rest fix Starker’s strength?
Starker awakens the next morning feeling hale and hardy. No so much for Cyrus. He definitely seems hungover....

Deep Wave Mine - The Mines
Sounds like I missed quite the battle! Glad we persevered.

Party position updated with the intent to go south from the intersection.

Taking the west fork.
The tunnels continue on ahead until you reach another branch point. To the left is a tunnel rising up in the mountain similar to the one you took to get down into the mines. The other leads off to the right.
Continue south.
Very shortly you come to another branch.
Northwest
The passage comes to a dead end. Refuse is piled up here. Old rotted wood and rusted beyond use scraps of iron are scattered about here.
Head back to the last intersection then go south.
