Your second mote of flame once again strikes the spellcaster wight. The creature thrashes about momentarily as it succumbs to a fiery death; moments later it tumbles off the skeletal warhorse and lands with a dull thud on the ground.
The bow-wielding wight atop the hill continues its attempt to find you with a lucky shot…
Ranged weapon attack 1 (w/ disadvantage): 19 for 8 piercing damage, if successful
Ranged weapon attack 2 (w/ disadvantage): 15 for 6 piercing damage, if successful
Your familiar continues to track the third rider, who has now emerged from behind the outcropping and stands approximately 80’ to your right. It also fires off a pair of arrows into the fog…
Ranged weapon attack 1 (w/ disadvantage): 5 for 5 piercing damage, if successful
Ranged weapon attack 2 (w/ disadvantage): 7 for 5 piercing damage, if successful
(Karuk may act; he is basically between both riders, each of which is within approximately 80’)
As the enemy fell to the ground Karuk found no time to celebrate. His mind worried about the third rider and the possibility of it bringing reinforcements. Maybe its creator, a considerably strong spellcaster, lied in wait. Maybe in the company of further allies. Those fears were dispelled when Ninlil showed that the third undead had simply repositioned. It was likely the three had orders to wait and attack only if the target refused to walk into the ambush and even them to try and regroup in a way that ambush would become possible.
If only they were closer. Four times closer, the wizard calculated. Then two good attacks would finish the whole confrontation. And there are the horses too. He would have to deal with them too and although by themselves the exanimate beasts would hardly pose him any danger they would demand some time. Taking a deep breath he remembered two lesson from his recruit days – It could always be worse and if ain’t broken don’t fix it.
“Ignis!” Karuk shouted, rising his hand and hurling another mote of flame on an enemy, the one that didn’t reposition. Once again he didn’t wait to see if the attack landed, instead advancing diagonally to the left and as far as his speed could allow.
Notes: Karuk spends his action to cast Fire Bolt (16 to hit, 22 fire damage) on the enemy that did not reposition (advantage because of the invisibility). He then uses his 30ft speed to advance to advance diagonally to the right, intent in avoiding any collision with an enemy. Rolls made on the campaign log.

The fire bolt continues to be effective; a second enemy has now been damaged by the magical flames. Both riders loose a volley of arrows, hoping to find their invisible target...
Ranged weapon attack 1 (w/ disadvantage): 16 for 6 piercing damage, if successful
Ranged weapon attack 2 (w/ disadvantage): 8 for 4 piercing damage, if successful
Ranged weapon attack 3 (w/ disadvantage): 8 for 4 piercing damage, if successful
Ranged weapon attack 4 (w/ disadvantage): 14 for 6 piercing damage, if successful
...then, deciding they can do more, they turn their horses eastward and flee.
(Skeletal horses with riders dash east, away from Karuk, putting them at a distance of over 140'. The riderless horse remains motionless, standing next to the fallen spellcaster)
Even as Mulligan finds himself forced to bring up a shield again he finds himself having to shake his head to throw off some kind of mental attack. Luckily he manages to do so but he does start to become convinced that this may be a bit more than an inconvenient hassle afterall... (Wis Save 10+5 for 15)
"You behave yourself!" Mulligan shouts as he turns and points The Cutting Word towards the spellcaster, summoning forth eldritch energies and unleashing them down the length of the blade and splitting off and zinging towards the target... (Eldritch Blast)
Beam 1: 22 to hit for 3 damage
Beam 2: 14 to hit for 7 damage
Beam 3: 18 to hit for 8 damage
Mulligan then spurs Hoarse on, the horse turning on rushing Mulligan over to get into melee range with the spellcaster... "Just you and me against the world, Hoarse," Mulligan says, inspiring his mount... Just in case it needs a saving throw at some point!

Mulligan Breen
The beams of crackling energy leap from your blade; two of them strike the spellcasting wight squarely in the chest, causing it to take a step back.
As your spur Hoarse toward the spellcaster, the two wights within arms reach attempt to take hold of you with their deathly grip...
Melee attack (of opportunity) 1: 16 for 4 necrotic damage, if successful
Melee attack (of opportunity) 1: 10 for 8 necrotic damage, if successful
Hoarse smashes through more branches and underbrush, bringing you within a sword's length of the spellcaster; it too reaches out with one of its bony-fingered hands...
Melee attack: 21 for 8 necrotic damage, if successful
(If applicable, make a DC 13 CON save for each melee attack that hits)
(Mulligan may act; the spellcaster is within 5'; the other two wights are now approximately 40' distant)
Once he is sure that the threat has passed, he will check the wights body for any sign of where it came from or why based on what it is carrying, if anything (investigation 12), before climbing back on Ghost and continuing on his way, with a closee eye out on the surroundings.
You take a few minutes to search the slain, but there is nothing of interest or worth. Nothing but coarse, ink-colored garments and a cloak.

The journey to Timris consumes the remainder of the day, a period of several hours that passes without incident. Everything seems to be just as it should be, and there is nothing to explain what prompted such an attack upon you. Your familiarity with the history of the Defenders suggests it has been centuries since any undead or fiends have been encountered in Syndaris.
The people of Timris--a cheerful fishing village--accept you warmly into their midst, and just like last year and all the years before that, hold a feast for you and any who can attend (which is nearly everyone). Roasted fish, potatoes, and candied apples, along with endless tankards of ale, are the fare of the evening. The villagers go late into the night with their singing and dancing, and the bravest among them interrupt you now and then and ask for a story.
Mulligan Breen remains untouchable thanks to two of those attempts being brushed aside by Mulligan's earlier shield spell... "What foul notion has brought you to cross my path?" he asks as he peers down at the man. On top of the spellcaster now, Mulligan places his Hexblade's Curse upon them (bonus action) and swings twice more with The Cutting Word.
First Attack: 12 to hit for 12 damage...
Second Attack: 17to hit for 14 damage... Assuming this attack hits (?) he'll use his Defensive Flourish option to expend a Bardic Inspiration and add that roll to the damage done as well as his own AC until start of his next turn... -- So damage becomes 21total and his AC 28 until his next turn.
(Some day I'll eventually roll on the double digit side of the d20...)

Mulligan
The wight's eyes lock onto yours as you ask your question, and its response is little more than a croaking growl after the Cutting Word slashes through the creature's cloak and into its shoulder. The wight then steps away evasively, drawing its life-forsaken form farther into the dense brush and scrubby trees. The severity of its wounds are obvious to you.
The other two wights elect to keep their distance, using their longbows to continue the fight. One of them already had a longbow in hand and can, therefore, fire...
Ranged weapon attack 1: 13 for 11 piercing damage, if successful
Ranged weapon attack 2: 10 for 11 piercing damage, if successful
The other sheathes its longsword and draws its bow as it backs away from you.
(The spellcasting wight took the disengage and therefore does not trigger an attack of opportunity)
(Mulligan may act; the distance to each wight is as follows: spellcaster is 15' through difficult terrain and half cover; nearer of the two bow-wielding wights is 40' distant; the other is now 60' away)
Mulligan, due to years of training in combat, is a sentinel of the sword and it is no easy thing to disengage from him. (Sentinel feat allows him Opportunity Attack even if disengage is used…)
Opportunity Attack: 21 to hit for 10 damage plus 4 from Hexblades Curse, if hit then the foe’s speed becomes 0 until end of it’s next turn. (14 total dam)
If Hoarse must follow the spellcaster then so be it, Mulligan is focused on taking this one out before cleaning up the others…
First Attack: 19 to hit (this is a chit due to Hexblades Curse) for 16 damage plus 4 from Hexblade’s Curse PLUS another bardic inspiration used for Defensive Flourish to add 4 more damage plus 4 to AC til end of next turn (so 25) — (24 total dam)
Second Attack: 25 to hit for 11 damage, plus 4 from curse… (15 total dam)
He thanked the gods for the wisdom of the soldiers that trained him when a single stray arrow found its way on his direction. In a fraction of a second Karuk knew it would hit him. The wound would be superficial, negligible, but that was accounting for the impact alone. What if the arrow was poisoned or cursed? He was dealing with undead – magic and putrefaction was an inherent part of their existences. In the last moment he decided to play safe and raising his left arm, the wizard made the energy of the Weave into force. An translucent bubble of pale blue light expanded from steel shield, encasing his body from all directions. A momentary barrier between himself and the enemy’s attack.
“Scutum!” His voice echoed as the Shield spell deflected the arrow and rider increased the distance between them. Getting smart, aren’t we? The half-orc thought, moving in the direction of the rider, trying to get it inside a hundred and twenty feet range. Let’s see if you got smart enough. One more time power centered on his right palm, birthing a mote of flame that was soon thrown at the exanimate. “Ignis!”
If he calculated the distance right that would be another hit but one he doubted to be enough.
Notes: Karuk spends his reaction to cast the Shield spell, avoiding the arrow that would otherwise hit his AC. He then tries to move in the direction of the rider, until it is no more than 120ft away and then spends his action to cast Fire Bolt (21 to hit, 8 fire damage) against it. If Karuk doesn't need to use all of his speed (30ft) in order to be 120ft from the enemy, he will use the remaining movement after the spell attack to get closer to the undead rider.

The wight's attempt to gain distance between itself and you proves fruitless. One more swing with The Cutting Word is all it takes to drop this foe.
(So, please revise your last post of you'd like Mulligan to use his action in a different way)

The villagers go late into the night with their singing and dancing, and the bravest among them interrupt you now and then and ask for a story.
By the time he arrives at Timris, Rowan has put all outward worry behind him, with a façade of joy and peace on his face. He eats a bit, but refrains from drinking much, preferring to keep his wits about him in case of another attack. He is more than happy to tell a story if asked. He picks things that have happened over the last 8 years while he has been a defender, but doesn't mention anything about the attack today.
You cover enough ground to allow another fire bolt to reach the fleeing wight. You watch the magical flames momentarily engulf the rider as it continues its retreat.
Both wights spur their steeds onward, hoping to disappear into the foggy night...
(Karuk may act; using their dash action, the horses and riders moved a full 120', which puts them over 200' distant)
With the spell caster fallen, Mulligan turns his attention once more to the minions. Hoarse is urged to turn and launch into a gallop once more and carry Mulligan through the brush and foliage and back to the original foes. From horseback Mulligan swings his blade down at the corpses which refuse to lie still...
First attack: 27 to hit for 14damage plus 2from Blade Flourish (also 2 to AC so Mulligan at 23 Armor Class til start of his next turn.)
Second Attack: 16to hit for 8 damage
(I think you mean the Opportunity Attack killed him so both attacks on Mulligan's turn versus the others. But if he only has one action left then just use one attack...)

Hoarse closes the gap between you and the remaining wights. The Cutting Word then does its part, felling one of the undead.
"Pathetic,"remarks your sword, seemingly to summarize the wights' fortitude.
The remaining wight now finds itself alone and overmatched, but realizes its options are few. Twice more, its longsword cuts through the evening air...
Melee weapon attack 1: 6 for 4 slashing damage, if successful
Melee weapon attack 2: 23 for 3 slashing damage, if successful
Normally it was a good thing when an enemy retreated. It meant respite, the end of conflict or a chance to prepare better. That time things were different. The enemies existed to target him and showed a dangerous tendency – to regroup and strike again. To ignore them could mean having their next strike in Yarnfield. Karuk couldn’t simply let that happen. It was his duty, even if by mistake, and it was his will. He had seen too many people dying like prey.
With a deep breath, the half-orc centered all his forces to reach Ash. Taking place on the saddle he stirred the stallion to dash in pursuit of the undead riders. Ninlil, stay in range. The wizard commanded telepathically. Her scouting eyes were his best chance of tracking the creatures in the fog. Maybe that is their true ambush. The first trap but a misdirection, meant to make he drop his guard.
“You’re getting special food on our next stop, boy.”Provided both of us survive, the voice of his mind completed. Even if the thick fog didn’t hide greater dangers it could very well difficult the task of hitting the enemies. The possibility of needing Magic Missile was increasingly real. Can you see how far they are from one another? He asked the owl.
Notes: Karuk takes the dash action then reach Ash. Mounted once more he has the horse dash after the enemies and commands Ninlil to stay in range of the telepathic communication afford by Find Familiar. He also asks if she can see how far the undead are from one another.
"I know, I know," Mulligan mutters in response to the sword. "I need to practice more... This has taken way too long."
Even as Mulligan is taking every comment from the sword as a personal slight he is guiding Hoarse over to the last corpse, easily parrying and sidestepping it's attacks and countering with a couple of his own.
First attack: 11to hit for 11damage
Second Attack: 25to hit for 9damage plus Defensive Flourish for 9more damage and turning Mulligan's AC to 30 until his next turn.
"Don't suppose we know anyone playing around with undead in these parts, do we?" Mulligan asks his sword as he dismounts and prepares to either finish this thing off on his feet or to start looking over the corpses and see if they offer an clues as to why this all happened. Mulligan has a habit of talking to the sentience in his sword while trying to work things out in his head or remember things long forgotten. The sword is generally snide about it but that doesn't stop it from having relevant information.
Following Ninlil's lead, you and Ash veer eastward in pursuit of the fleeing wights. The owl's keen vision makes it an easy matter for her to follow the undead, and she conveys that the two riders are side by side, no more than 10' from each other at any given moment.
(Karuk may act; as I'm sure you've discerned, Karuk will be within magic missile range of the wights if Ash dashes, using his/her full 120 feet of movement)
“Playing with, raising, creating, using, hiring, whatever…” Mulligan says with some annoyance as he lazily swats at the wight a couple more times, finding himself a bit bored now that any sense of threat is over. “You don’t think spell boy over there is the brains of this ambush, do you?”
First Attack: 23 to hit and 10 damage plus 2 from Defensive Flourish…
Second Attack: 24 to hit for 15 damage
