[[ OOC: Not only does Khessa have a good AC... She is also protected by Protection from Evil and Good - an advantage she got at the cost of not attacking the first round - so let's remember that the undead's attacks against her should be done with Disadvantage... ]]
Khessa, between combat reflexes, excellent armor and the protection of her magic, easily avoids the attacks; and not even the nauseating stench of putrefaction of the Ghasts seems to slow down the imposing blade that the blonde arcane warrior has the strength to swing with seemingly incredible ease!
The tall adventuress lands a quick slash on the neck of the already wounded undead!
[[ OOC: I think Avery, who attacked first, took advantage of the Advantage... so straight roll for Khessa ]]
Avery continues his attack against the ghast: Attack 18, damage 7
(OOC: Wasn't Avery paralyzed until the end of his turn in round 2? I'm pretty sure that the 9 in @drumdigby's post was the DM rolling Avery's (failed) CON save vs. paralysis. Therefore, Avery wouldn't be able to move or take any actions until round 3.)
Seeing Avery freeze up under the ghasts' assault, Xanrym casts a spell at ghast #3, attempting to drive it away from Avery. He hopes that perhaps when it returns, it'll attack someone else.
Movement: None. Maintain his position. Action: Cast spell (LVL 1 slot) Dissonant Whispers at ghast #3 WIS 14 save or the ghast takes 15 psychic damage and immediately use its reaction to safely move as far as its speed allows away from Xanrym. On a successful save: 7 psychic damage and no forced movement.
Concentration: Heroism round 2 of 10 If Avery has fewer than 4 THP, he now has 4 THP (start of each of Avery's turns). Avery is immune to being frightened.
Xanrym: Round 2 WIS 14 save or the ghast takes 15 psychic damage and immediately use its reaction to safely move as far as its speed allows away from Xanrym.
(OOC: @drumdigby - If the ghast fails its saving throw, maybe you could just use Avery's attack for the Opportunity Attack that he would get against the fleeing ghast.)
Coriana switches her hex curse to one of the rear ghasts, then sends a torrent of lightning at it! (AC 11, 22 lightning, 4 Necrotic)
"Leave this one for me!"
[[Coriana will target the least damaged ghast still adjacent to only Avery. If there are none adjacent to Avery and not Khessa, she will target any that moved away from Avery, If none qualify, she attacks whatever looks least damaged.]]

Coriana - Company of the Grey Chain Wagner - Dragon Heist: Bards. DM - The Old Keep
Syllen seeing that Avrey is hurt will quickly heal him using his magic followed by grabbing a javelin and throwing it at a Ghast.
True Strike Hit: 21 Damage 7 Radiant
Healing Word/Chalice: Avery heals 20 HP(Note that on DDB the Chalice button is only a d8 but based on reading the option it should be a d8 plus wisdom mod so in the log the Chalice heal should be 12 not 8)
(OOC: I think after damage from Round 1 and Healing from round 2 Avery should be at 37 HP and 4 temp HP)
Avery is Paralazed this round so is unable to act. He does roll a DC 10 CON Save or become Poisoned by the stench of the ghast though: 19
Theldrin's missiles hit the lead Ghast, killing it, so Khessa's sword instead buries itself into Ghast 2. Ghast 3 DC 15 WIS Save against Dissonant Whispers: 20
Coriana's attack misses, while Syllen's hits Ghast 2 next to Khessa.
Seeing the effectiveness of Khessa's Protection from Evil and Good and being reminded that she knows the spell, Theldrin decides to finally use his scroll he's been holding onto, waiting for the right moment. He moves up, pulling the scroll from the side pocket of his pack, then casting Protection from Evil and Good on Avery before retreating back along the ship's hull.
Khessa, whose physical and magical defenses continue to ward off the undead's furious attacks, moves to Avery's side, to try to invite as many enemies as possible to target her: "What's the matter, you stinking bags of rot? My fresh flesh is too swift for you to grasp? Come on, try again! You'll have better luck!"
The blonde arcane warrior in the meantime, makes her mighty blade dance in the air and brings it into a waist-high slash with the Ghast she was already fighting.
Note-I request that I am allowed to run my character-roll my saves, etc., so I don't lose track of what is going on unless I state specifically that I am away and can't play. I work plus I am with EMS so I have full days and only can check early in the morning, and in the evening. I understand keeping the game moving along and all, but I lose track of what is happening
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Xanrym: Round 3
After a little concern over Avery's paralysis at the start of the fight, Xanrym is happy that the fight seems to be turning their way. Since Theldrin has now warded Avery against further attacks from the ghouls, Xanrym decides to focus on helping the party take down these creatures as quickly as possible. He raises his crossbow summons his magic to help guide his shot at the ghoul who was fighting Khessa. (OOC: If I'm tracking the fight correctly, that's ghoul #2. It should be the most injured opponent.)
Movement: Xanrym scoots back a few feet to steady himself by leaning his back against the mast pole behind him. Action: Cast a spell True Strike with the following attack. Attack ghoul #2, Crossbow, Light (80/320): 13, Damage: 5 (radiant) Free Action: None
Concentration: Heroism round 3 of 10 If Avery has fewer than 4 THP, he now has 4 THP. Avery is immune to being frightened.
Coriana switches her hex curse to one of the rear ghasts, then sends a torrent of lightning at it! (AC 11, 22 lightning, 4 Necrotic)
Coriana's lighting blast makes Xanrym jump. He heard how Coriana's lightning blasted Krell, and now her lightning bolt nearly blasts a hole in the side of the ship! Xanrym realizes that he should really be bolstering her during fights. If Coriana had been just a little more accurate with that spell, she could practically destroy a ghoul in one blast!
Coriana sends a feeble blast at Ghast #4 (AC 19, 1 force damage), following up with a fair amount of lightning. (7 damage)
"Let me see if I can distract them from Avery!" shouts Coriana, moving up next to the ghasts.(I'm not specific where but I don't want him and Khessa taking all the brunt.)
Khessa, Xanrym, and Coriana's attacks hit, but Syllen's trident misses. Avery slashes out with Whisper at Ghast 3, but misses. The Ghouls all claw at their opponents:
Claw against Syllen Attack: 18 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll. Slashing and Syllen makes a DC 10 CON Save or is Paralyzed until the end of his next turn: 18
Claw against Khessa Attack: 14 Damage: 12 Slashing and Khessa makes a DC 10 CON Save or is Paralyzed until the end of hernext turn: 12
Claw against Avery Attack: 22 Damage: 15 Slashing and Avery makes a DC 10 CON Save or is Paralyzed until the end of his next turn: 8
