Based on what Syllen learned in his investigations, Theldrin guesses this is the box used by the Assassin's Guild and will mention this to the others in a low tone, adding that it might not be wise to tamper with the box.
Khessa also begins to worry, once she learns the nature of the mailbox from which she has just read the mail... she therefore, although trying to keep in mind the contents of the letter, quickly puts it back.
"I'm sorry, Theldrin," the blonde arcane warrior murmurs. "I didn't know."
Khessa is too curious to just go ahead as if nothing happened... she tries to recover the note from the mailbox and read it.
Xanrym also remembers the information Syllen learned about The Assassin's Guild's "mailbox." If he can stop Khessa before she goes to recover the note, Xanrym suggests that she allow him to use his Invisibility to retrieve the note so that they can do it without revealing who took the note. Actually, maybe they should have Theldrin or Coriana try first with Mage Hand in case the mailbox is trapped in some way.
If they are able to stop Khessa in time, and there's a place where the party can discreetly discuss how to proceed, Theldrin is of the opinion that it might be best to just ignore the box. But he has to admit, he is curious as well, so is willing to try to view the contents. Even Mage Hand is going to be obvious if anyone were watching, he muses.

True. Xanrym is willing to take the risk of getting the note himself, using Invisibility to get close without being seen. "That way, we can hopefully see the note without being seen. Just promise that you'll come rescue me if I end up poisoned or turned to stone or something else awful!"
Unless someone else has a better idea, Xanrym will cast Invisibility on himself and then sneak up to the mailbox. Since he's invisible, he feels like he has time to check the mailbox for traps before he tries to get the note out of it.
Xanrym goes and sneaks up to the mailbox as the cloaked figure disappears down the lane way. He sees the bronze box, 5 feet in each side, bolted to the outer wall of an abandoned building. A crude skull is painted on the side of the box facing the street. A long narrow slit provides the only access to the box. When you look inside the building, you see no access to the box from behind, and there is certainly no way into the box from the outside.
(OOC: Sure, let's go for it! Always a bit scary to use inspiration on the first encounter of the day, but Xanrym feels that this could be important. Using Heroic Inspiration to reroll.)
Xanrym spots the cloaked figure down the alley. The hood slides off and he sees the face of Irennaste. However, his face is covered in new scars and bruises.
Do you all give chase? If so I reckon it’ll be a Skill Challenge to catch him. Haven’t come up with the success/failure scenario yet, but I’d say it’s an east skill challenge. 6 successes before 3 failures.
Khessa, when informed of the cloaked figure's identity, replies: "Just as I feared... Our 'beloved' matron must have resented our refusal to bow to her extortion. There's no point in chasing her lackey; I think we should try instead to steal or destroy the letter now, while we may still have time."
"Failing that," the blonde arcane warrior shrugs "we'll have to try to eliminate Elessarwa quickly. With the matron dead, the guild won't be paid—and I doubt they're people who work for free and out of goodwill."

(OOC: As I understand the scene, Khessa made a move to go to the mailbox, but Xanrym and Theldrin delayed her. In the end, The Company stayed behind, some distance away from the abandoned building to avoid suspicion. Perhaps they ducked into an alley across the street or just huddled in front of a building one or two up the street from the one with the mailbox. They waited there while Xanrym casts Invisibility on himself and then sneaks over to the mailbox to see whether he could retrieve the note. Not seeing an obvious way to get into the big (5-ft square!) mailbox, he checks down the lane and sees Irrenaste moving down the lane. Of course, the party cannot see where he is or what he's doing.
Given the situation, I don't think that Xanrym has time to return to The Company to discuss it before he decides whether to chase Irrenaste.)

Not seeing an easy way to get into the mailbox to retrieve the letter, Xanrym looks down the alley, and he's surprised to see Irennaste here. Xanrym's curiosity is now at its peak. What happened to Irennaste? Whose name did he put in The Guild's mailbox? What is going on?
Xanrym glances back to the rest of The Company, realizing that they cannot see him. He shouts once, toward them, "Irennaste!", and then he gives chase. As he rounds the corner into the alley, he intentionally leaves some trail so that the others know where he's going. If there's any vegetation or some debris at the corner of the alley, he gives it a bump or shove. If there's no debris nearby, he reaches down, and taps a quick pitter-patter on his drum as he rounds the corner into the alley, hoping that the others will be able to follow the sound and realize that he's chasing the figure who left the note.
Skill Challenge: Since Irennaste has a head start, and Xanrym's shout has alerted the Drow that he has been spotted, Xanrym uses what he has heard so far about Pedestal, The Riddle, and House Dusklron to predict where Irennaste is heading and guess how best to cut him off. History: 22
(OOC: I assume that the skill challenge is open to the whole party, or at least to the portion of the party that follows Xanrym and chases Irennaste, and that Drumdigby will tally up the successes in order. IIRC, different PCs may use the same skill. No one may use the same skill more than once. Your post should include a description of how your character uses that skill in the chase.)

(OOC: FYI - I'll wait several hours until others who want to give chase can post their first try at the skill challenge before I post more attempts from Xanrym.)
Coriana will use perception to hear Xanrym's shout, warn the rest of the party and start booking towards Xanrym and the dark elf. She tries to spot the signifiers of Xanrym's chase, and as she gets closer, spot Irennaste. [[Perception: (with Lucky) 14]]

If Khessa is "intercepted" in time by her fellow party members, she obviously goes along with their alternative strategy.

Perception: 20 - checking the mailbox for traps
(OOC: Solid rolls for this approach. Let's see whether it pays off!)

Can Xanrym still see the cloaked figure if he looks down the "lane way"? (He's thinking about pursuing the figure to find out who it was.)

That's a fail, i'll wait to see if you have/want to use Inspiration or something before I narrate the outcome.
